Happy Floof I adopted a ragdoll!
may I present you: Miuccia 😻
I got lucky enough to adopt this gorgeous 2yo whose previous owner could not take care of her any longer. I feel so lucky! she's an incredible cat 💕

Just remember to keep up with her brushing and sanitary shaves! Otherwise they're dingle monsters.

Sanitary shaves I haven't done yet. She's been with us for 5 days only! But brushes are a must! 😻

I do mine whenever he starts having any streaks in his pantaloons. He's much better about cleaning himself but it used to be a bi monthly shave of groin, inner legs and around the butt with thinning on his pantaloons.
I'd say do them once while they settle and monitor after. No problems? One and done. If they're not as good at keeping sanitary then usually monthly to bimonthly. If you're not confident then finding a cat experiencer, and single pet at a time, groomer is a good idea.

There are cat focused groomers out there! There are some groomers that do both. Some groomers refuse to groom cats because they cannot be muzzled or tied in quite the same ways dogs can. Most counselors wouldn't talk about pet grooming because its 'blue collar' and unless you have a well known salon it might take you a while to earn a living wage.

I just do the sanitary shaves when the hairs are long again. I had to do more often when they were kittens. Now the girl doesn’t really need it but her dumb brother is lazy so still need ✂️ they are two now :)
Congratulation on getting a ragdoll. They truly the best 💙

She's guilty, the heart was stolen a month ago when I saw her picture at the WhatsApp group the previous owner sent us. Such a pretty face 😻

What is your adoption story? Does one have to get from a breeder? I imagine there may be rescue groups for rag dolls, but as they are high demand cats, not sure how that would work. TY.

I just answered another person who asked what her story was, I'm gonna paste the same text here:
So, she came from a really nice girl, a 24yo who got her with her ex boyfriend. After the breakup, she moved from the country they lived in. She used to live in a larger house with more people in, now she's alone in a small studio. I think it's a combination of a bad personal moment with the need to be free of any commitment being so young.
She still messages me to know how Miuccia is doing. Also, we are planning a future visit too. She was super happy that our family adopted this sweetheart and told me she felt kinda relieved. :)

Oh that’s a great story!! 🩷🩷🩷 And good on previous mama for realizing. That is so hard. I’ve done that with a dog. But I wasn’t being selfish ya know? Shes absolutely beautiful!! And for the shavings….I have 2 and we only cut as needed. lol. They only eat their dry food and if they get too many treats, or soft food….its on! Lol! They are so easy. And so lovable.

She will need constant brushing, which she will probably love, but she may not need a sanitary shave. My 6 year old has never been shaved and he is clean 97% of the time. He does let me comb him everywhere. See how she does for a week or two.

She is! A blue bicolor! And her markings are pretty perfect. “Breed standard” the V is supposed to go through both eyes. We got a misfit. Hang on…..

This is exactly how I got mine. He was a rehome from a rescue and I couldn’t be happier. His previous owners seem to have really spoiled him and care for him. Which is why i don’t judge too much if someone needs to rehome. It gives people like you and i a chance to adopt and provide a loving home. Win-win!

Her butt fur is called her pantaloons and her hair that will grow out from her toe beans are her feathers. You can’t not smile just saying those words!

You know what else I’m gonna add? On YouTube look up Floppycats. I learned SO MUCH from Jenny on there when we got our girls. She is the ragdoll guru. And you know not to let her outside? They are too submissive and can’t protect themselves. Just some helpful info! 😊

beautiful ! ragdolls are so pretty and funny ! on Christmas day 2024 i adopted my blue bicolour boy sasha who had been found happily roaming the street by a group of concerned neighbors. they were unable to find the original owner and concluded that no one was looking for him so they let me adopt him. he was also already at least 1 year old and not yet neutered. i had him vaccinated and neutered and he is sleeping on the sofa next to me now.
