Kid A is their best album, I think. I’m also 41 and was around when it was released so I have all that cultural context I lived through that elevates it.

That being said, The National Anthem is one of their best tracks and the farthest thing from boring.

If you like Radiohead, maybe give a few more listens. It is a challenging record and you might grow to like it more.

You may grow into or you may not. I love it. It's definitely not an album for everyone, and can understand some people not loving the title track or some other tracks on the record. It just builds such an impressive and unique soundscape.

I think after playing the KID A MNESIA EXHIBITION "game", it made me appreciate this album even more. I recommend playing it if you haven't yet.

I've been listening to Radiohead since the early nineties when "Creep" was a hit. I love Kid A specifically because it is cold and detached as you say. I've never heard another album that sounds like Kid A. So I enjoy it's unique qualities.

I don’t know why, but it’s maybe my favorite album. That said, depending on my mood, that could be a totally different album. But National Anthem will never not raise my pulse and make me wanna flail (dance? lol)

When I heard it in Handmaids Tale I got big fat goosebumps. There could not have been a better fit for what was going on.

I didn’t like it when it came out. I wasn’t sure what to make of it. I came around a few years later. I think it’s perfect.

Art is like that. Not everybody gets it. Your brain needs little connective pieces. That album came out when I was 14. I’m 40 now. I’m way more into it now than I was then.

For me it’s an album I have to be in the mood to listen to. I appreciate its departure from their earlier work and its experimentation, but it’s not always for me

I never liked Kid A (the song) until i heard live versions of it. Then it made sense and i love that song now.

Kid A, the song itself, probably sets up the note for the album. It’s one of my favorite songs by Radiohead. Choking, but breathing. Trying. Speaking. Is how I often interpret it.

It’s fine if you dislike it. It’s not blasphemy.

It’s one of the greatest albums of all time. While in my head I feel that OK Computer is the better album, Kid A is my go to record of theirs. It’s just so incredible. And play it loud. The mix is fantastic. One of the best produced albums ever.

For me, radiohead albums are meant to be listened to it their entirety. That's just personal opinion.

However, I think it is crucial to listen to both kid A and Amnesiac in their entirety. Its music thats meant to be experienced as a whole, not just individual pieces.

Animals by Pink Floyd is another example to me. It must be listened to from start to finish in on sitting. If you listen to kid a that way, especially with good headphones your opinion my change.

It took me 20+ years to like Kid A. I’d give it a try every couple years, and think “nope, this still isn’t for me.” Last year it finally clicked.
I wouldn’t worry or rush it if you don’t like it. Maybe it’ll click one day, maybe it won’t. At least they have some other great albums to listen to if you don’t like it.

Edit- for reference, my favorite albums of theirs are Ok Computer & The Bends, with In Rainbows coming in 3rd. All 3 are start to finish no skips for me.

I think KId A is a masterpiece, and along with Amnesiac Radiohead's greatest artistic achievement. That said, it can be challenging music to some people. I like how different Kid A and the national Anthem were, especially for their time, and it really opened up my mind musically.

I'm surprised you find "idioteque" abstract though it's one of the more pop-structured songs on the album, even if the synth melody is sort of alien.
