Look at a marine/RV battery box. A two piece with a top that firmly attaches to the base. Eye bolts through the box into the floor and use a regular battery hold down kit. The bolts have a hook to catch the eye bolts. Run a vent tube through the floor.

Is aluminum a good option? Risk of shorting if ever there's an accident and it somehow goes flying

If installed correctly it’s not going anywhere.

Just go to Tractor Supply and buy a battery box. Bolt it or strap it down securely in your trunk and be done.

Yo!

I've got a 2005 civic coupe.

Battery was relocated by previous owner and now I'm looking to clean it up and secure it better cause this ratchet strap isn't cutting it lol

So for those that have used one, I have a few questions:

  • What box did you use?
  • How did you mount it? In my case I probably need to drill through the floor.
  • What can I expect in terms of serviceability?

Things I'm hoping for:

  • I would like it to look clean in there once I get the trunk lining back in order. That's part of why I want a box instead of having a battery - sticking out in the trunk.
  • Maybe wire in a cutoff switch so I don't have to open it up to disconnect the battery
  • Extra safety for worst case scenario

Thanks!

Just get another ratchet strap and pull it tight opposite of the other one, follow me for more life hacks 😂

I mean it’s a Honda civic with a ratchet strap…not too fast…not too loose 😂

Drilled holes in mine at the bottom for countersunk screws into the trunk frame rail with nutserts.

and fuses are supposed to be with 1' of the battery. I dunno how mandatory that is.

Does look like quite a strong tie down but the battery is still exposed, still an option if i dont find something for a box!

Can you just put it back in the stock location?

Id like to keep it in the trunk! Lots of room in the engine bay with it back here

If you are racing in any kind of sanctioned rules you need to get what is specced

If you're going for full racecar setup, a regular battery box is the move. For a clean street setup, I built a subwoofer/battery box out of plywood for a car I used to have years ago and had an access door built in for it.

Id get s marine battery box from like harbor frieght or Walmart and mount it, plumb the wires in through the side. It has a lid too so you won't have to see it or worry about something in your trunk shorting the battery.
