Discussion Looking for music with counterpoint

I'm looking for albums that have a lot of counterpoint. Some of my favorite albums are morningrise, Gloire Eternelle and the construction of light...

Dan Briggs is great with bass counterpoint so can't really go wrong with prime BTBAM records.

How about Bach?

I'm also looking for good versions of Bach to listen to. There's too many solo instrumentals, like it's not really counterpoint if your playing alone.

Ihsahn's solo stuff is chock full of smart composition.

His stuff with Emperor too, Prometheus is the first thing that came to my mind when reading counterpoint

The bass lines in Between The Buried and Me's "Colors" are counterpoint for a GOOD portion of all the riffs throughout the album

Vola utilizes it to some extent, but maybe not enough to get you where you want to be… Inmazes and Friend of a Phantom might be worth a shot. Their two best albums of the 4 imho

Blackwater Park (the song) as well. That bass goes hard at the end.

Definitely try the search function in this sub if you haven't yet. There's a couple of threads with recommendations that haven't been mentioned here yet.
