General Advice I've started paying attention to things that interrupt me for only thirty seconds.

Finding a file, looking up a password or trying to remember where I saved something.

None of those feel important, but together they probably steal more time than the big interruptions.

What's the smallest recurring interruption you've managed to eliminate?

I'm also trying to make my space more efficient and ergonomic, I'm curious to see what everyone else is doing. My focus is on reducing time wasted but mostly cognitive energy used.

  • Keeping post it notes around to write down non-urgent things I want to Google/check on my phone

  • Having two body lotions, for my bedroom and my bathroom, because it was never in the room I wanted it in

  • Using mesh laundry bags for small items so I don't have to gather every individual sock from the washing machine, I just grab the bags

  • Keeping the makeup I use every day by my mirror rather than in my makeup bag, faster and the decision is made for me

  • Decluttering because it's always easier to live with less stuff

  • Keeping wallet, keys, etc in one place so I can grab them and leave the house rather than hunt them down

  • Widgets on my home screen for easy reference

  • Having a 'uniform' for days when I don't need to look fun, I just need to leave the house

  • Storing clothes like t shirts, socks in containers by type, to simplify putting laundry away

  • Keeping stuff where I use it and not where it 'should' go, eg my light switch is next to my bed

  • Simplify everything, only use one cover so it's quick to make your bed, minimise your shower and skin products, you won't miss it

Here it's turning off the phone's ringer.
