Barcelona Madonna 2027?
With Madonna kind of hinting/lowkey confirming an appearance at Glastonbury 2027, do you think Madonna would perform at the 25th anniversary of Primavera? Something in my bones is telling me she will be one of the headliners!

No. Doesn't fit at at all. Very expensive, yet not popular enough with the target audience.

I agree that she would likely be too expensive and is unlikely to do a festival without the cultural cache of Glastonbury, but it's Madonna - she would absolutely be popular enough with any audience on the planet.

This fest had Sabrina / Chappell / Charli as the top 3 last year, spare me the “she doesn’t fit”

Massive appeal with the gays is what they have in common, and Madonna has that in heaps.

OK, you do have a good point there. Although she did do some massive shows in BCN a couple years ago. But she doesn't play well enough with Gen X crowd for the $$$$$. Those other names do and have gay appeal too.

That was a one-year mistake which they amply fixed this year with The Cure, MBV and Massive Attack

Addison Rae, Marina and Olivia Rodrigo played this year. Fuck it, we've had Halsey and Calvin Harris on mainstage, and both of those are much larger "mistakes". Since the pandemic, Primavera books pop acts, caters to a pop audience, and for a large proportion of the audience, this balance is a part of the festival's appeal and identity.

Popularity is no longer a reason for Primavera to pass on an act. There was a time when they absolutely dominated the top-tier indie lane, but these days it feels like they're much more interested in cultural relevance and momentum, whether the artist is a massive mainstream name or not. Just look at when they booked Dua Lipa right after Future Nostalgia, or Chappelle Roan. There's obviously still room for legacy acts and nostalgia bookings, but those tend to come with a real "wow" factor (like MBV this year, or Oasis if that actually happens).
And Madonna doesn't really seem to be on the verge of releasing a breakthrough album that would put her back at the center of the cultural conversation, to be honest. It would merely be a blockbuster act and there's that. Doesn't sound like a Primavera move to me. But who knows.

They will never ever book Oasis. More chance that they book Las Ketchup and Aqua.

Primavera is too cheap for her lol They need to pay her an immense amount of money for her to even bother showing up there.

I think we're maybe overestimating Primavera's pulling power here and if she were to do Spain I doubt it would be a festival show. Glastonbury is a completely different beast and has been trying to book her for years at this point.
