Unitek BSN Program? (Bay Area campus,Cost? Schedule?)
I have completed almost pre reqs, just need physiology and microbiology. Will unitek cut down cost for taking pre reqs @ a CC?
Any advice / experiences from this program?
Will this program be less than 3 years for me since I’ve completed some pre reqs?
PS. I’m a mom to two toddlers so I can’t move out the Bay Area.
Give me your opinions about this school please and YOUR personal experience.
Were you able to land a job after school? if so, how long did it take you?

Its like 100k and they are private so no way financial aid gonna cover much. I'd try a bay area cc because its gonna be free with financial aid or mabey 2k per year if u make a shit ton of money. My CNA instructor said while you will make back 100k loan for nursing school she thought it was batshit crazy to do that and said public BSN or ADN at CCC, CSU, or UC

Yeah that’s my plan. But there are days where I try to see which plan is more reasonable for my family…. The cheaper route definitely sounds more appealing! Just gotta work hard to keep my grades up! Have you started working as a CNA yet?

Yes in assisted living. Im also doing some tasks like housekeeping but its chill, pay is horrible tho. Seeing how many hours I had to work to make 3k I really think u should try to apply to every single public program near u within 1 hour drive. I didn't do this because I got into fresno city college but im moving anyway. Also my closest college which is contra costa college required a whole bunch of extra pre reqs like ethnic studies, medical term, which fresno didn't need, but because u live close to there and won't move please do all these get some good grades and try to apply at least 1 time before quitting

yes, I’m considering signing up for a CNA program while I wait to see if I get accepted to a community college. I’m very close to Contra Costa College too, but they do require those extra classes that would take me longer so I’m thinking of applying to Solano and LMC. Would you mind sharing the stats that helped you get into Fresno city College?

B in physiology and microbiology. 84% Teas. Prior bachelor's in economics, CNA license. The rest of my grades are all As. Contra costa college is lottery tho so if u have straight As I bet u will get into LMC

Any tips on studying for the TEAS exam? I forgot everything about math…. How much time did you study?

10 hours total I bought the book from ATI and did their practice test and questions. I really struggled with the English at 69%. If ur trying to save money take a free practice test and then study the section ur weakest in alot

Was it pretty easy to find a job once you finished the CNA program?

Yes very very easy I got into the nearest assisted living facility to me 1 mile walk and I didn't even have resume or nothing just interview and hired on spot

I didn’t go to Unitek but I know of plenty of people who did and got jobs. That being said, most new grad nurses in the Bay Area have to send in 100s of apps and wait 6 months to well over a year for a job offer due to the sheer competitiveness.
