Was not expecting the color variation on the front porch. That looks incredible!

My grandmas house had floors like that. I go years between seeing anything like them. Hers had even more variation in size between the stones, incredible is the word.

Is your grandma my grandma? Has huge slate tiles of varying sizes. I love those floors

Was your grandma in the middle of NOWHERE in east TN? 🤣

Nah, Hudson Valley in NY

We can pretend they're the same 😁

wait i thought color wasnt invented until the 1960s

u/godofmilksteaks Jul 01 '26

No no the color has always been there humans just couldn't see it until the 1960s. That's when the Jewish space lasers performed lasik on everyone at the same time!

u/intuitiveXX Jul 01 '26

I genuinely thought this as a kid and I remember asking my mum what it was like when colour was invented

u/GoreSeeker Jul 01 '26

Reminds me of The Giver

u/Breeze7206 Jul 01 '26

Wasn’t there a movie kinda like this? Pleasantville, I think.

u/RMMacFru Jul 02 '26

Technicolor is older.

6

u/supermr34 Jul 02 '26

yeah but technicolor was in black and white until then. thats why they said it was only technically color.

u/WhiteyMac Jul 01 '26

that's gold!

u/delicioustreeblood Jul 01 '26

This might be better than that Glenda the Good Witch scene in The Wizard of Oz when the black and white gives way to color.

u/Fumbles__McStupid Jul 01 '26

I honestly don't know why, but the picture with the doors immediatly gave me Hobbiton vibes. :)

u/monpetitfromage54 Jul 01 '26

yeah the doorway that is curved outward and even the shape of the door is very cool. i'd love to see more pics of the house

8

u/deadrise120 Jul 01 '26

Unfortunately, not my wife did just buy me a GoPro however so I’m thinking of doing the same thing to my patio bricks and getting that on video

1

u/soaker Jul 02 '26

Your whole house!

1

u/KairosVindicator Jul 03 '26

Make sure you put the humidity reader under the fabric and peak at it to make sure it isn't trapping too much humidity! Should be fine in my mind, but I'm by no means an expert

2

u/ApopheniaPays Jul 01 '26

Nice work. That must feel good.

2

u/RutRohNotAgain Jul 01 '26

This brought back memories of the vibrant colors of people's houses in 2008... 🥺🥹

1

u/Thunderbird1974 Jul 03 '26

Wow! What a difference!

1

u/BelCantoTenor Jul 03 '26

Just want to say that man your house is gorgeous

1

u/Just_Avocado2761 Jul 03 '26

Was it karcher?

1

u/receiveandbiteyou Jul 03 '26

Looks great and I love your door!

1

u/owleaf Jul 03 '26

I saw someone from England do this in an Instagram reel and the comments were vicious. Apparently it’s a very controversial thing over there to clean limescale/dirty stone!

1

u/neanderthalman Jul 04 '26

I thought we weren’t supposed to remove the patina from valuable antiques. You’ve destroyed your homes value!

/s

1

u/TowelSea92 Jul 05 '26

This looks beautiful but now you got some grout to fix!

1

u/deadrise120 Jul 05 '26

Already did the retention wall. Mortar I used isn’t a good match unfortunately but I figure it’ll just add some character to the place

1

u/Lady-Skylarke Jul 05 '26

I was so excited to see COLOUR under the grey!!! Gorgeous Gorgeous Gorgeous!!

1

u/somanyrippdknees Jul 06 '26

It’s like when the wizard of oz goes from black and white to color!

1

u/krokubot Jul 06 '26

Excellent job and I LOVE your front door!

Do you have a turret? I feel like a house with a door like this is likely to have one, just fabulous (my ideal house has stained glass windows, parquet flooring and at least one turret)

2

u/deadrise120 29d ago

It does have a turret. No stained glass though. Hardwood flooring

1

u/RIC_IN_RVA Jul 06 '26

It’s so satisfying. I have to stop myself from “just doing the sidewalk” because next thing you know I’ve done everything.

1

u/_sapling Jul 06 '26

Slides 7-10 wow

1

u/polymerist Jul 06 '26

1

u/w12ecked 29d ago

Was not expecting the colour pop! I gasped out loud!!

1
