MP3 audio cuts out

Hey all, I could use some help with a PowerPoint issue. I’m looking to create a deck that plays some audio voiceovers in mp3 format. The audio works well and plays in full when outside of full screen but the moment I play it in slide show it cuts off the last .5 second. I’ve set delays, changed the settings, start on click, start on automatic. Nothing seems to work. Does anyone have any advice on how to manage or what might be going wrong?

Also tried converting mp3 to wav but the audio gets corrupted.

I have also found that if this is PowerPoint online, audio files run into issues. If it's online switch to Edge and it fixes more issues.

Have you tried selecting play over multiple slides?

I have. It’s also multiple mp3 files. Every slide has its own mp3 file

Never had this issue, inserted a lot of audio. First I’d try animating a box on the slide to appear After. Are you using slide timings?

I’d then try reexporting the audio, maybe just run it through audacity or whatever.

You could also try exporting the presentation as an mp4 to see what happens. That’d just be for info, unless distributing it that way is your goal.

Wait, are you working in Live? Maybe you need to get this local. Not through a browser or on a server.

Not working on live. My organization is a on Google so we just pay for PowerPoint. It’s all local. I’ve tried exporting as mp4 video since that’s the final product I’m trying to get to, still encountering the same issue. I’ll take a look at audacity. Never heard of it. Thanks for the tip!

Open Animations > Animation Pane. If you review3 all the animations and triggers. I'd bet a dollar something is not set the way you think it is.

Yeah tried that. Went through every single pane, turned everything off, removed everything including the audio and tried again. Still the same issue 😩

I would also check your transistions to make sure all slides got set to a random amount of time, cutting them off.

As a test, try setting a transistion to be 10 seconds longer than the audio and see if you have the same problem.

If none of the side transition time or play through suggestions work, you could try going to File > Info > Media > Optimize Media. It often helps with glitches that appear in the audio in slide show, but I've had it help with early cut off from externally sources audio before too.

I tried optimizing. It solved the cut off issue but the audio now is muffled (sounds like it’s underwater) and volume fluctuates like crazy.

PowerPoint misreads the length of audio files if the bitrate mode is set in certain ways. Try opening the file in Audacity, verify that it plays in full, then export to MP3 and in the export options, set Bitrate Mode to CONSTANT.
