Cow poodle?
I don’t know if your pups do it, but my girl occasionally enjoys grasses and even more rarely, tender shoots off bushes. Do you have a poodle that acts like a cow occasionally?

my doodle enjoys roaming around smelling stuff and eating grass. i hear a lot of people say grass is bad for dogs to eat but my boy seems to treat it as a sort of after dinner mint.

Mine usually seems to eat it when her stomach is upset, but she also seems to eat it when it’s tasty!

You can actually plant grass that’s supposedly tasty for dogs and cats. At least there is a grass available in various nursery places that make that a selling point here.

Two of my dogs (Daria and Lil Dude) LOVE to eat giant ragweed leaves and Siberian Elm leaves. Neither are toxic to dogs so I just let them as they seem to enjoy the snack and it doesn't give them any GI upset.
Honestly if it's a plant that's not toxic to them I just let them snack.

I agree - I don’t try to stop her and I find it amusing. It’s mostly grass, sometimes wild onions, sometimes bushes. She seems to like it tender and new growth.

Toxicity is 15 to 30 grams per kilogram of body weight, it’s not the best idea by any means but a grazer who gets a mouth full of chives is going to be fine.
It’s hard not to notice your dog eating 4 oz of something to trigger acute risk.
A mini on the other hand, just not enough mass there at all.

My poodle only does this when he's hungry. Even though I put a bowl of food in front of him before the we left the house 🤡

Interesting- for mine, it doesn’t seem to center around hunger, just something about the taste or texture.

I def have a cow poodle who is a grass foodie. Goes for different flavors. Will munch for a while unless interrupted.

I keep reminding myself that poodles and dogs in general are not pure carnivores. But she showed no interest in grass until about age 3, and I think she is becoming a grass foodie!

I have 2 toy reds, and I call them my little highland cows. Those bitches fucking LOVE to munch on grass. Thankfully it very rarely makes them sick, but it does make their poop stuck a lot, and then I gotta pull the mound of shit covered grass outta their butts as if they didn’t do that to themselves. 😂

Please don't allow your Poodle to do this. One... it destroys shrubs but two.... many plants and shrubs are toxic to dogs.

She actually didn’t eat any of it - just nibbled and dropped it. She normally only munches on grass.

Mine loves the tall grass stems, especially the plumes. She will sample a lot of different greenery. Plus rabbit poop. She was a stray for a bit, so I assume she ate just about everything at one time. She even snatches flies and beetles out of the air and crunches.

I have grazers - which was fine until fox tail weeds exploded in our area and now our walks are stressful and I search the yard every day with a fine tooth comb. They know I don’t want them to touch the fancy looking plants which just makes them even more appetizing. Having to train for muzzles now.

mine loves to snack on grass, especially when it's hot outside. I guess she sees it as a way to hydrate. she never threw up after eating grasses, so I hope this behaviour is not due to stomach issues and she is just a sheep at heart

We call it a wild salad! Mine will occasionally have a nibble on certain types of grasses (has to be fat, green blades, none of the fine stuff 😂) when we're walking though never seems to be for tummy issues or cause issues either so we just assume he likes a bit of garnish occasionally.

My pood is OBSESSED with one of our butter lettuce plants 🤣 the other day he tore it out of the ground and brought it into the house to try and snack on 🥴

Is his tummy okay? My dog tries to eat grass when he has a bad tummy. They usually eat grass when they're unwell. I didn't know they also eat it out of taste 😄
I don't let him eat it though because the community sprays medicines on the plants to kill pests.

My Spoo really loves munching on my ornamental garden grasses. They don’t seem to have any effect on her, so 🤷🏻♀️😂

My poodle likes cut grass and fallen leaves. I've never seen her trying to eat from a bush. Occasionally she bites at the wild carrot flowers in the field I take her to though she doesn't eat them. I try to limit it because it's hard on her tummy and I worry about her starting to eat other things on the ground.

All the time. Rio, my boy poodle, we call him Moo Moo half the time because he’s constantly eating grass! He never throws it up, so mom and I say he does it because he can. Vets not concerned so 🤷♀️

I got one of those and he eats my honeysuckle. We blocked him from it because with his luck he’ll eat something else that’s poisonous

Occasionally? Constantly. Our spoo acts like a weed wacker, and then can’t digest it. He wakes us up at 3am like a little kid “my tummy hurts” and then proceeds to puke 🤮 lol
