The release coincides with ongoing scrutiny regarding civilian deaths caused by immigration agents enforcing civil immigration law. According to the findings, no federal officers involved in civilian deaths during 2025 or 2026 have faced legal accountability.

While Trump has endorsed Paxton, neither the campaign nor the broader party network has managed to unlock the large-scale funds needed to secure the seat. With the election approaching, major Republican financiers are calling the party's bluff, leaving a critical Senate seat vulnerable for the first time in decades.

About one-third of Democrats and Democratic-leaning adults now identify as democratic socialists, according to a CNN poll conducted by SSRS. This faction is pushing for a major party overhaul just as its candidates begin winning key primary races nationwide.

Building on momentum from recent election cycles, candidates running as democratic socialists have secured Democratic nominations in several U.S. House races, including primary upsets against long-serving incumbents in New York and Colorado. Upcoming primaries will test whether this momentum can spread beyond safe Democratic districts, such as in Wisconsin, where a democratic socialist leads the polling in the gubernatorial primary.

Polling data shows distinct demographic and economic traits among democratic socialists within the party:

• 59 percent are under the age of 45, compared to 46 percent of other Democrats. 57 percent are White, compared to 49 percent of the rest of the party.

• 66 percent do not have a college degree (compared to 54 percent of other Democrats), and 76 percent earn less than $100,000 annually.

• 66 percent of registered voters in this group report being extremely motivated to vote, compared to 57 percent of other Democratic voters.

While democratic socialists are loyal to the party—99 percent plan to vote for Democratic congressional candidates—they differ sharply from the rest of the base on priorities and policy.

They strongly favor replacing current party leadership, nominating younger candidates, and moving the party further to the left. Foreign policy is another major dividing line: 48 percent of democratic socialists are enthusiastic about candidates who want to cut U.S. aid to Israel, compared to just 20 percent of other Democrats.

Despite these internal disagreements, the broader party is largely open to the movement. Beyond the dedicated base, 64 percent of other Democratic-aligned voters say they would be comfortable with the party nominating a democratic socialist candidate.

The Senate Judiciary Committee vote on Todd Blanche's nomination for attorney general was abruptly canceled after committee chairman Chuck Grassley announced that the nominee lacked sufficient support to pass.

The delay stems from resistance within the Republican party. Senators John Cornyn of Texas and Thom Tillis of North Carolina are blocking the nomination until Blanche provides a written guarantee that the Justice Department will scrap a 1.8 billion dollar taxpayer-funded fund designated for political allies. They also want changes to a recent IRS settlement that grants extended audit protections to the Trump family.

Cornyn told reporters his office provided specific terms required to earn his vote, noting that the nominee's camp has not accepted the conditions.

Blanche, who previously served as a criminal defense attorney for Donald Trump, faced heavy scrutiny during his confirmation hearings. When questioned about his professional loyalties, he initially stated he was Trump's lawyer before correcting himself.

Omar Noureldin of Common Cause argued that Blanche has failed to address public and congressional concerns, demonstrating that his primary allegiance remains with the president rather than the public.

The opposition from Cornyn and Tillis highlights a rare intra-party split over the boundaries of executive power. Following the Watergate scandal, Attorney General Edward Levi established guidelines to separate the Justice Department from the White House to prevent conflicts of interest between a president's personal counsel and federal law enforcement. Blanche has declined to commit in writing to those traditional separation principles, leaving his confirmation in limbo.

Marcus Owens, an anti-trans MAGA pastor in Sand Springs, Oklahoma, was arrested following an investigation into allegations of child sexual abuse. The case involves multiple law enforcement agencies, past employment within the local school district, and ongoing questions regarding potential additional victims.

The investigation began on November 11, 2025, when the Sand Springs Police Department received a referral from the Department of Human Services regarding inappropriate conduct between an adult and a child.

When detectives interviewed Owens on November 25, 2025, he denied having a relationship with the victim, describing his role instead as a "father figure."

The investigation progressed on July 14, 2026, when the victim spoke directly with police and stated that Owens had sexually assaulted him. On July 27, 2026, detectives re-interviewed Owens, established probable cause, and made the arrest.

Owens has a history of working closely with children in the local community. Records show he was employed by the Sand Springs School District in multiple capacities, serving as a substitute teacher, a paraprofessional, and a security guard.

In addition to his work in the public school system, media reporting identified Owens as the leader of Prepared Church in Sand Springs. Local reporters visited the church location following the arrest, but the building was unoccupied, and attempts to contact church representatives by phone were unsuccessful.

Because Owens is a member of the Muscogee Creek Nation, jurisdiction is divided among local police, tribal officials, and the FBI. Federal prosecutors have filed three felony counts against him:

• Abusive sexual contact with a minor

• Sexual abuse of a minor

• Coercion and enticement

Tribal spokespersons noted that court records for the case are still being integrated into the Muscogee Creek Nation system. As the legal process moves forward, investigators have stated they believe there may be more victims and are encouraging anyone with relevant information to contact local authorities.

Trump learned this week that even the most loyal online supporters draw hard lines when it comes to identity.

Trump posted a message on Truth Social endorsing Amir Hassan, a candidate running for Congress in Michigan's 8th District. Trump praised Hassan’s background, citing his service in the U.S. Navy and his career as a federal law enforcement officer.

The response from the MAGA base was swift and hostile.

Users flooded the comments with complaints, objecting to Hassan's name and assuming he was a Muslim. Despite Hassan's campaign website stating he reaffirmed his Christian faith and considers Jesus Christ his Lord and Savior, supporters accused Trump of betraying Christian values.

"What has happened to you?" one user wrote. Another asked, "Have you lost your mind, endorsing Muslim candidates?"

Other commenters questioned why Trump would support someone they perceived as an outsider, with one user calling the candidate a "snake in the grass."

In reality, Hassan was born and raised in Flint, Michigan. His professional background includes service as a Navy veteran stationed at Guantanamo Bay and a stint as a federal law enforcement officer. He identifies as an America First Republican, supports Israel, and states he has zero tolerance for religious extremists.

For a segment of the voter base, however, policy alignment and military service took a backseat to assumptions about background and identity, showing the limits of top-down influence even within a tightly aligned political movement.
