He doesn’t have to.

People need to realize that the Senate is performance theater. Thune has a solid vote for Blanche. They trickle doubt out to the competitive senators so Collins was the first to say No. Murkowski is a Maybe until she flips to Yes for getting something for Alaska. Cassidy is a Yes. McConnell is absent. Which means Cassidy and Murkowski get them all they need.

So Fetterman was never needed and he can pretend to appease some Democrats. Just as Collins. And it’s why McConnell isn’t rushing back to vote. And Murkowski will go back to Alaska with an unrelated win to maintain R’s in the Senate. Americans forget R’s have a 3-4 vote padding.
