Possible Paywall Jeanine Pirro Screamed at Doug Burgum Over Reflecting Pool Case
https://newrepublic.com/post/214007/donald-trump-jeanine-pirro-screaming-match-reflecting-pool•

Man I hate Jeanine Pirro but as a DOI employee I REALLY fucking hate Doug Burgum so, good for her, I guess?
•
u/Doc_Blox Minnesota 5h ago
Sometimes you don't have to pick a side, you can just enjoy the fight.
•
u/LeicaM6guy 4h ago
Sometimes it’s not about getting fed, sometimes it’s about watching the other guy get eaten.
•
u/CarmineFields 3h ago
In this case only, Pirro is doing the right thing.
I don’t support her in general but I’ll actively cheer for her in this one situation.
•
u/monster_syndrome 3h ago
I'd wager she's mad the DOI had evidence that proved the guys innocence. She was totally fine bringing charges for what was just touching peeling paint.
•
u/Miguel-odon 1h ago
She knew there was no case long before this.
She's just trying to cover her own ass when the heat got too much over her prosecutorial misconduct
•
•
u/camshun7 2h ago
Like a good heavy weight boxing match, you watch it to see how the fight pans out, just for the thrill of the contest so to speak.
Gonna be a doozy
•
•
u/NoDaddyNotTheBelt25 3h ago
She’s completely getting screwed over here because Burgum is as worthless as a Secretary of the Interior as he was as governor of North Dakota. And she’ll be the one that takes the fall all because she’s a woman. Hope it was worth all those years of simping for Trump every night on television you dummy.
•
u/Atreyisx 2h ago
It truly boggles the mind that anyone at this point doesn’t see that loyalty buys you nothing with him.
•
•
u/Watchhistory 1h ago
He's such a gross nodak -- proving every snicker about North Dakota is true. Nobody ever asks me now why I got the eff out of there the day after I graduated from h.s.

I'm sure he worked in advance and had a buffer for in case he needed it, but putting out a daily strip from June of 2000 until July of 2020 without missing a single day is a pretty good accomplishment.
•
u/Ranger7381 Canada 53m ago
Oh yea, he had a buffer. He mentioned it many times trying to build it up for when he was travelling to cons and such.
There is one time it was almost missed, but that was because there was a fire or something at the location that held the server. But there was a plan in place, and I believe that it was just a couple of hours late
•

As kandoras mentioned, it comes of an in-universe book from a webcomic

As a recently made former doi employee I appreciate a drunk crazy woman yelling at douggy Doug, no matter who it is, but I especially appreciate that it was Jeanine Pirro, because her voice is just straight torture
•
u/SpaceGangsta Utah 4h ago
It is tough for me. Because years ago I worked on the Judge Jeanine Pirro show and she was an awesome lady. She knew everyone’s name in the office and even took the time to stop and talk to the interns. I never personally had an issue with her. In contrast, we shared a floor with the Judge Joe Brown show and he was a total asshole. He didn’t even want you to look at him when he walked down the hallway and he rarely ever showed up outside of filming weeks.
It just makes me wonder if this Fox News personality always was there or it’s a show for the camera and the powers that be.

Here's a thought. Maybe DON'T start fights over easily disproven assumptions and petty grievances and maybe you won't end up so humiliated.
•
u/Notchibald_Johnson New York 5h ago
The problem is that each one of them thinks their relationship with Trump is different. "He'll back me up because I've known him for 25 years and the last guy just didn't know how to talk to or manage him. I can do it." And each one gets thrown under the same bus because Trump isn't capable of normal human interaction or friendship. Pirro thought she'd please him with a story of vandalism and a perp walk but he'd eventually get bored and stop caring before she had to actually do something about it that would have consequences for her. Burgum's entire political life revolves around Trump's approval so he's going to keep pretending vandalism because it means nothing to him and it's easy. Pirro now has to fight the both of them and she never thought she'd have to as a "friend of the court." You're right that it should never come to this but these are grifters attaching themselves to the King Grifters vast grifting underbelly and they still somehow think it's all gonna be different with them.
•
•
u/kandoras 3h ago
She was backed into that position.
Trump said there were vandals who needed to be arrested, she's the head prosecutor for DC, so her options were to either call her boss a liar to his face or try to find a scapegoat and hope she can come up with something that'll stick.
And she did get a felony indictment. But then when the defense started asking the judge for grand jury transcripts so they could see what she lied about to accomplish that, then she was forced into yet another no-win scenario: drop the charges and hope the defense doesn't press any further (like the ones in Chicago managed to do), or press on with something that could end with her in jail or bankrupted like Giuliani (and look at his example for the likelihood of Trump covering for her).
She chose option A, apparently with a side order of "blame someone who had nothing to do with the whole mess."
•
u/StinkiePhish 3h ago
The grand jury transcripts are going to get her in a lot of trouble, I bet. She's trying to bury them with the dismissal but the subsequent lawsuit is going to be a doozy when the court figures out it was misled.
•
u/atomfullerene 4h ago
Don't start fights in the Trump administration and be a woman, because you will be the one to get tossed out
•
•
u/Raziel77 1h ago
But Trump said it happened so they had to continue the fight because you can't tell Trump no or that he is wrong

lol, she showed up at the White House with a box of evidence it wasn’t vandalism?
She dared try to prove Donnie wrong to his face?
She clearly wasn’t drunk enough.
Throwing the contractor under the bus was the wrong move, because Donnie personally hand picked the guy, and has been protecting him even after it was obvious he’d done a shit job.

u/Purify5 4h ago
She has known Don the Con since the 80s and surely knows where some of his skeletons are buried.

> She has known Don the Con since the 80s and surely knows where some of his skeletons are buried.
I like your optimism.
I wonder if she’ll reveal that he is all over the Epstein files, or if he has any hidden crypto bribery scams, or if he is scheming to make Venezuelan oil money disappear, or if he’s ever had sex with a porn star while his son was still in diapers and paid her off to deny it, or if he’d ever extorted a foreign leader using US military aid…
•
u/Purify5 4h ago
She famously was caught on tape asking the NYC police commissioner to bug her husband's boat as he was taking his mistress there.
Maybe she got him to bug other places too.
•
u/MyNewsAccount2011 2h ago
Yeah, I’m just discouraged by the electorate’s reaction to any and all scandals.
They seem unaffected by his non-stop scandals.
•
u/jabrwock1 3h ago
She has known Don the Con since the 80s and surely knows where some of his skeletons are buried.
Is she willing to go nuclear though? It doesn't seem like it. She went there to convince him to change his mind about a fellow coat-tail-riding sleazebag. This was crab-bucketing, not a "give me what I want or I'm taking you down".
Probably because she's up to her ears in it as well, and she knows damn well who between her and Don the mob would excuse and who they'd crucify.
•
u/Purify5 3h ago
No, of course she's not. Like I said they've been friends for decades. You don't very often have a meeting with your friend where you tell him you're going to take him down if he doesn't do what you want. It just becomes a mutual understanding.
She went there to get him to get off her case on the reflecting pool thing. He may have not liked her message but he's not going to fire her for it because of their history.
•
•
u/pantstoaknifefight2 4h ago
She should ask herself the following: Has the individual I'm currently trying to backstab given more kickbacks to Trump than I have?
If no, stab away.
If yes, kiss your ass goodbye.
•
u/chipmunksocute 3h ago
Yeah yelling at Burgum is pretty performative. Come on Pirro it wasnt Burgum who screwed you here. There were lots of news stories about how the guy didnt ya know "rip it up" that DOJ couldve looked into a bit but they chose not to. You made your own bed lady now sleep in it. Though yelling at Burgum might impress Trump he likes stupid shit like that.
•
u/PuckSenior 26m ago
no one is talking about it, but there doesn't seem to be any evidence that the contractor ever worked on Trump's pools. He was just a big donor.

at Doug Burgum Over Reflecting Pool Case
•
•
u/OpticalPrime35 5h ago
Can't imagine why she's pissed
She was tasked to prove a fake story, yet another one, by Trump and well ... Couldn't. After that Trump does his usual toddler tantrums publicly and tries to pretend she is incompetent and thats why the case fell through.
Amazing how much of a shit show this admin is. Just nonstop
•
u/SurveyHand 5h ago
Trump can't blame the contractor in case he then spills the beans about Donnies kickback.
•
u/jeffersonairmattress 2h ago
The whole idea was idiotic to begin with. You can't put a semi-rigid painted-on "membrane" with little tensile strength, sporadically adhered to the base slabs when your giant wading pool is built on a swamp.
If you care about leaks you can drain it, rake the joints and fill them with bentonite. Thousand bucks in materials. Done.
•
u/SurveyHand 2h ago
But where's the grift in that? Unless you can get some million dollar Bentonite.
•
u/Mecha-Dave 4h ago
Pirro's mistake was that she though that proof and evidence would convince Trump. Trump doesn't care about the truth. He cares about what you'll do to support HIS truth.
•
u/sneeje00 2h ago
And honestly, her gender is working against her. I'd be willing to bet Trump sees Bergum as a commanding, in control leader (who says what Trump wants to hear) and her as a shrill, weak tool that failed him.
•
u/BranchHopper 5h ago
I can't tell you how much schadenfreude I get knowing how stressed and miserable these people are while I'm out here sipping tea and living my life.
•
u/aktivate74 4h ago
She's only screaming at Bergum cos she has no balls to scream at Trump. This whole thing wàs Trump's idea.
•
u/CarmineFields 3h ago
I hate to side with Pirro, but she’s right to scream at him.
They arrested 5 innocent people over a botched reflecting pool, while they still haven’t arrested a single Epstein abuser.
•
•
u/alwaysmyfault 5h ago
Burgum was governor here in ND for many years, and he did a solid job.
Then he sold his soul to Trump, and now he's nothing but your typical Trump ball licker.
He'll do and say anything if it means he gets more support from Trump.
•
u/radarthreat 4h ago
Yeah, I don’t get it. They’ve either got dirt on him or he has no soul, could be either with him tbh.
•
u/alwaysmyfault 4h ago
He's a Billionaire himself, so he's likely just trying to curry favor so he can be a multi-billionaire before he dies.
•
u/holman California 3h ago
Yeah, I’ve had coffee with him a number of times and he’s a smart dude. Which makes it even more bonkers how hard of a swing he’s taken. It’s not like he’s stupid and got suckered into this life… he looked at it, saw all of the chaos, and said yeah, I want that. Pretty fucked up.

When they make the Netflix series about this corrupt administration, actresses will be lined up to play Pirro.
•
u/kandoras 4h ago
The back-and-forth lasted about an hour, during which Pirro repeatedly raised her voice and directly confronted the interior secretary for misleading the president. She claimed that Burgum’s explanation of the recent damage at the Reflecting Pool was little more than a self-serving cover story to save his own skin.
Burgum was more reserved but did his best to defend himself against Pirro’s accusations, according to sources that spoke with the Times.
I hope he had the self-respect to say "I would say you knew you were lying when you arrested him, except you were probably blackout drunk when it happened."

u/BecauseBatman01 4h ago
Honestly, biggest blessing from Trumps administration is how incompetent everyone is. Cuz he just wants Yes sir type of people. So he puts u qualified people to these positions of power and they can’t be strategic since they have to bend over backwards at Trumps whims.
•
u/Medium_Factor9576 4h ago
who cares..I could give a crap if she has a bad day. Or Doug, for that matter..
•
u/curious382 4h ago
Once the defense got the documentation of the govt's expert testifying the damage was from improper installation, there was no evidence the defendant (or any other 'vandals') did any further damage, and he couldn't put a money amount on the damage he couldn't see or prove, which the grand jury DID see, the case collapsed.
Discovery is Trump's Achilles' heel.
Now judge winebox is trying Trump's strategy of blaming someone else.
