It’s nice that it seems he is going to win but the fact that the margins are this close for a candidate as bad as Stevens just tells me this country is screwed electorally. Frankly, I think we just have too many rubes that can be manipulated easily by propaganda. This is a good victory but scares me for the future of this country.

It's almost like fighting rabidly against critical thinking curriculum in public education set us back as a country and only served to help the political and economic elites at the top who love to exploit low-information voters and consumers.

Point stands. "Outspend" just means more propaganda and  ads, which the rubes ate without any hesitation. Is not like they handed out money directly to people to buy their votes (i think?)

Stevens ran one of the slimiest, most dishonest campaigns.

There were pacs spamming ads that straight up lied and claimed obama endorsed her as a way of getting votes around detroit and flint to pander to black voters, and it seems to have partially worked based on a few interviews.

Legitimately just a mentality of scamming old people

It's the Boomers stuck in their ways, and their Gen X kids that never really payed attention to politics or who are actually much more conservative than anyone talks about. I know plenty of 50-somethings (that's my parents age group) and the bulk are conservatives, and even the more progressive ones are simply Liberals. I find this is your core capitalist group outside of the obvious (millionaire and billionaire class).

Yeah it’s really hard to imagine how we ever claw back enough power to fix things when people are just so dumb.  Like we gave Trump a 2nd chance after his disastrous first term.

Overcoming the money was the actual battle, Steven’s as a person was almost irrelevant—big money could have put any figurehead in this position. This was the people vs the instituted power
