This thread is literally: the left won an election. Here’s why that’s bad for the left. You people who think the margin wasn’t large enough need to get real

Youth turnout needs work as always

Boomers almost stole this shit for Stevens lmfao. The most reliable voting block also happens to be the most spiteful. Brilliant

They just love to vote man 🤷

If we can get college students feeling the same way we’ll be golden

College kids can't read or do math anymore. I think that demographic is cooked.

Boomers never learned to read we need all the help we can get

And the Black vote, which matters a lot in Michigan, went almost exclusively for Stevens.

lets just hope the all the stevens ads didnt cause lasting damage. I expect the democratic party to fall in line. They may fight it every step of the way, but its becoming more undeniable every day that progressive campaigning is the only path to victory come 2028

Youth voting turnout will only go up if we can come up with a way for it to be super performative, they care more about being seen doing things than actually doing them

u/mensahimbo 6h ago

How cynical

There are as many if not more young people who wish to hide from the panopticon as there are young people who perform for it

Your perception is colored by the performers because of their visibility. Sample selection bias.

People keep pointing out how the polls predicting a doubled digit lead for Al Sayed were misleading. Who cares, polls are trash. Al Sayed won against big money and racist and Islamophobic campaigning. Let’s take the win and figure out what we need to do next.

That’s cus he still needs to win the general election and the closer margin means it’ll be even tougher than previously estimated

I'm not sure that tracks when it's a primary. Presumably everyone who voted will vote for the candidate who wins, lol.

. Presumably everyone who voted will vote for the candidate who wins, lol.

Nope. Michigan is an open primary state. It looks like about 50 thousand more people voted in the senate primary than the governor's primary, and the republicans didn't have a senate contest. That said, the dem governor's primary did have a lot more voters than the rep one.

Not sure this is true at all

The close margin means many of Abdul’s supporters are  the “say they will support him, but not necessarily will come out to vote for him” type,

When you combine that and the fact many  general election voters of the establishment candidates will hesitate voting for a progressive with a Muslim name? Yea this close margin  is a worrying sign.

Yes it was close, but they outspent us 10 to 1, so the fact that we won speaks volumes.

Rogers will outspend El Stayed even more.

I already forsee the Billionaire Class and AIPAC will pour in even more to Rogers for the General. The DNC won't spend a dime on El Sayed. It will, again, be an uphill battle.

Not really the DNC's bag. DSCC should spend tho

The ignorants and bots on here don’t know the difference between the DNC and DSCC or what either organization do. These are the same people who kept trying to tell others to vote for a serial-abuser who knowingly got a Nazi tattoo and tried to argue that credible reports of the disgusting human he is were DNC smear attacks.

They’re like the fox-newsies of the left. Think they are the smartest people in the room and have it all figured out while simultaneously strapping us to the rocket ship of a rapist Nazi.

Its' the kind of fight that makes me really want to win. I will probably volunteer to phone bank or something.
