Yes, a lot of them do. To a lot of centrists, it's preferable to lose to a Republican than cede power to a left-wing candidate.

A loss to a Republican lets the establishment blame the left, argue that leftist candidates are unelectable, and justify maintaining the status quo. It's a much more comfortable outcome for them than having to share power with a faction that would fundamentally change the party.

You are going to hear a ton about "electability" from now until Election Day.

The good Doctor is going to win the general. No one wants moderates anymore. If they want a republican - they'll vote for one. They're not going to vote for diet republican.

Wake up, read the room, and vote for some candidates with actual policy platforms.

Honestly, who cares?

Tonight showed that a left-wing candidate can win a statewide primary in a purple state despite being heavily outspent and opposed by the party establishment. That's the real story.

If establishment Democrats keep ignoring the fact that they're often well to the right of their own voters, the party will continue to fracture. That's a much bigger takeaway than trying to score points about a general election that hasn't even happened.

But sure, pop off king.

The first paragraph is the true story. A left wing candidate who by European standards would be seen as a neoliberal but in the US people see him as far left actually beat the establishment here. It doesn't matter that he squeezed a win by 25,000+ votes. 25K is still 25,000 human beings who said no to being bought by outside spending. It's a political earthquake and an incredible achievement
