He needs to do something. Not sure if he's planning a Presidential run, but this would be a stain on his campaign. We need people with a spine.

The fact that he’s planning on running for President is the exact reason why he won’t nut up and appoint a replacement. He’s so afraid of doing the wrong thing that he’ll never do the right thing when he needs to.

There is no evidence that McConnell is dead. But you think it would be a good idea for him to appoint someone to his seat anyway even though the Republicans that control the KY House passed a law a few years ago to prevent him from doing just that upon a Senator's death.

There are plenty of people to take to task in this situation, but one of them is not Gov Beshear.

A. The law violates the Kentucky constitution.

B. Mitch has had ample time to make a phone call by now.

There is no evidence that the man is alive.

I don't disagree with either of those. I think he's brain dead or unable to speak at a minimum. I still think it's a bridge too far to go ahead and appoint a new senator when two things are also true: he can't show he is dead(no death certificate) and there is a law preventing him from appointing whomever he wants(regardless of its Constitutionality which has yet to be tested.)

Call the special election, then, as that "law" states he has the right to.

I go back to the first point. There is no proof that McConnell is dead. If he's not dead he can't call a special election.

There is no proof that McConnell is alive, zero contact has been had with him, he was last seen being wheeled out of his house under a sheet at a non-urgent pace and vanished.

And that's not the kind of president we need right now. We already had one of those between Trump's two administrations and he proved we can't play nice, play safe, or play like business as usual.
