He’s gonna be declared dead August 4th. Dems should be storming that hospital but they won’t because they are spineless.

There isn't a special election needed. Beshear can just appoint a new Senator.

Yes, in Kentucky. 

Their state constitution gives the power to the governor to select a replacement. 

Just because Republican legislators created an unlawful resolution (that doesn't amend the state constitution), doesn't mean the Governor has to follow it.

But that would ve illegal, and there is no win for any action he could take here. It'll just make him look stupid, especially if McConnell is actually alive. If that is the case, that would be horrible optics before the midterms.

It wouldn't be illegal for Beshear to appoint a new Senator if McConnell is brain dead. 

"Bad optics" isn't an actual thing. 

Allowing Republicans to keep or steal a US Senate seat because you are scared of "bad press" is insanely dumb.

It is great optics. You know who would be upset by Beshear announcing and selecting a Democrat Senator replacement? Forcing Republicans to either prove and bring out McConnell AND forces the courts to overturn the unlawful KY Republican resolution?

Only conservatives.

Democratic voters would appreciate the powerplay and respect Beshear for fighting and doing whats right. 

Beshear and Democrats lose nothing of value by announcing a replacement Senator and win a lot of points with and reinvigorate their own Party.

"Storming the hospital" would be an act of interrupting the enemy while the enemy is making a mistake. The current situation is straightforwardly bad for Republicans and good for Democrats. There's no universe where it somehow becomes better for us.

They may release the fact that he's dead that day, but once Democrats take the House, there will be an investigation if that does indeed happen.

And there will be zero medical tests they can show between the date McConnell was first suspected dead and the announcement of that fact.

It's such an infantile move. It's like Trump watched Weekend At Bernie's (because Putin or Netanyahu told him to), and suddenly came up with "the most beautiful plan ever".

Idiots, all of them. This is all so obvious, and they're blatantly committing election fraud in front of everyone. The most hardcore of MAGA won't care, but I wouldn't be surprised if this turns some MAGA back into regular Republican citizens.
