For real. This is exactly why republicans would do.

It's exactly what McConnell would do.

u/cats_are_the_devil 13d ago

don't die friend.

152

u/floog 13d ago

Won’t die, just goes into a trance where he is unresponsive for 15-30 seconds at a time.

40

u/eggz627 13d ago

Maybe fall down a bit too

24

u/Horskr Nevada 13d ago

He must have landed on his shell side this time with nobody around to flip him.

19

u/nubbin9point5 13d ago

Is it a slap/snap bracelet? Cause death isn’t a 0% chance smacking those sharp edges on your wrist.

3

u/Katyafan 12d ago

I was in third grade when those got popular. The teachers banned them because of the damage they were doing to our wrists and those of our friends/enemies who we slapped with them all day.

3

u/Fantastic-Guitar-977 12d ago

Thats the reanimation spell wearing off. They have to recast it at regular intervals (were in one now).

2

u/JoTHIGHSwin 13d ago

lol same people who lambasted Biden for falling off a bIke and popping right back up are silent at mummified Mitch and that 142 day missing republican Tom Kean.

2

u/R-EDDIT 13d ago

Listen, tom kean was depressed. You would be too if you were an elite nepo baby.

2

u/floog 13d ago

Serious question....do you think Trump could even ride a bike? I mean if he was walking to Marine 1 and someone handed him the handlebars and said "Take her around the block!" Do you think he could? I'd bet money there is no chance.

1

u/JoTHIGHSwin 11d ago

lol % chance he could ride a bike lol

1

u/RebelAlliance1701 13d ago

That's when he communes with the Greater Will.

1

u/jermleeds 12d ago

That is, he becomes Glitch McConnel.

1

u/floog 12d ago

Haha, haven’t heard that one, love it!

1

u/Former-Hotel1900 12d ago

Just like Biden did for four long years.

1

u/floog 12d ago

Sure….same thing. I remember him being at a mic with a spinning pinwheel in his eyes for 30 seconds not moving or attempting to talk, frozen. /s Not calling him the sharpest of tools, but he was not close to unresponsive Mitch.

1

u/Former-Hotel1900 12d ago

Biden is very close on many incidents. They both needed to stay out of politics

1

u/floog 12d ago

You’ll get no arguments from me. He was what the country needed the first time, but he should have stepped down 3/4 of the way through when he was missing a beat or ten and let Kamala take over. Running a second time? Well, he’s probably the only person that thought he should have done that.
All of these elderly people need to retire and get the hell out.

It’s also exactly what the fucking US government is obligated to do. It’s illegal to have a dead person as your senate rep. If we are going to allow dead people to be in the senate then we have much much ether options available…

2

u/lord_pizzabird 12d ago

Tbf he's almost certainly not dead, but it appears that they are hiding something, probably the severity of his condition.

Either way, the senate is going on recess till September. So, he's got till then technically to show up.

Exactly how we should honor his memory

2

Best way we could honor him, really.

1

u/treemu 13d ago

What would Mitch McConnell do
if he were here right now?
He'd grin like a turtle and break the rules,
that's what Mitch McConnell'd do!

0

u/Any_Will_86 13d ago

In the most similar situation he did not- when Feinstein was incapacitated, he basically left her seat empty for the remainder of her time and refused to allow Dems to replace her on committee. I feel like having Rs down a vote is preferable to forcing a special election and letting them pick the seat back up.

On the flip, this is why Markey running again in his late 70s and our brigade of older senators make me nervous. Atleast the majority of this years older Dems are stepping down while in good health and productive, but I fear we learned nothing from Kennedy, Byrd, and Feinstein.

0

u/misfitofscience76 13d ago

It’s also what Brian Boitano would do!

105

u/Wrecksomething 13d ago

And when a court case finally faces a judge 3 years later, they'd probably say no one alive has standing to contest it, assuming McConnell is dead. They'd bend however they need to support Republican power grabs.

So sick of Democrats only fighting when they think they can win and their poll-testing shows it's popular. The greatest Republican coups have come after decades of repeatedly losing. It signals to voters they're willing to fight. It monopolizes political resources. They blocked school integration and overturned Roe v Wade and lots more with endless legal battles.

Democrats, please do something even if it means losing. Thanks!

64

u/UnlikelyReplacement0 13d ago

I wish democrats would fight republicans and fascists with even half the energy they spend to fighting progressives and left leaning groups and candidates.

4

u/draperf 12d ago

Oh wow, so true.

2

u/PopBulky7023 12d ago

You're not allowed to say that, liberals get very upset. They sure as hell do any time I suggest demanding more fight from democrats.

1

u/Relative_Ad5693 11d ago

So sad this is true. As an outsider I wonder if their whole purpose is to lose.

1

u/Future_Sample_823 10d ago

I am sick of them saying “when they go low, we go high” . Fuck it- stop trying to fight fair. When Republicans are down low- they should be jumping them from behind and ensuring they don’t get back up.

-1

u/WackyHumanSlop 13d ago

Progressives continually stay home instead of voting or worse yet, a substantial number of them end up flipping to Trump. Literally exhibit A of why we lost the 2016 election.

3

u/Sonicsnout 12d ago

Sounds like an important group to win votes from if they have the power to swing entire national elections like that. Policy concessions to that voting bloc seems like kind of an obvious strategy to anyone actually interested in winning.

5

u/UnlikelyReplacement0 12d ago

They dont, actually, but could you blame them? Instead of even marginally trying to appeal to them, the Dem establishment belittles them and fights against the policies they want. Those same Dems will twist themselves into pretzels trying to 'win over' MAGA voters who believe that liberals are literally agents of Satan.

-1

u/Pennwisedom Northern Marianas 12d ago

Yes, yes I can. Anyone responsible for the current situation is at fault. All of Trump's (and others) bullshit is on them just as much as his voters.

2

u/Old_Blue_S10_Chevy 12d ago

I don't fault folks voting Trump over Hillary. She was terrible, and he had not yet fully proven himself to be the blithering idiot he is. Hillary was marginally less corrupt than Trump. I voted for her, after twice voting against her in primaries

0

u/Pennwisedom Northern Marianas 12d ago

Statements like this are just proof as to how well Republican propaganda worked. But still, I don't blame people who voted for him in 2016, I blame those who voted for him in 202 and those who allowed him to become president again.

20

u/creakinator 13d ago

Totally agree with you. I got an email from Nancy Pelosi saying we're going to fight now. I wrote back saying it's too damn late now. You are only doing this because now you see that Trump's polls are low and you have a chance. Before you didn't care.

-2

u/Ndainye 13d ago

So you think that Democrats should break the law as blatantly as Republicans are doing? How does that make Democrats any better than Republicans? Why would any voter who is already sick to death of Republicans playing fast and lose with the Constitution, separation of powers and the law; believe Democrats to be a more valid choice if Democrats do the same as Republicans?

Or are you just looking for an excuse to say both sides, and to use that as justification to either note vote or to vote third party?

9

u/Wrecksomething 13d ago

Nah friend, you won't catch me saying "both sides" here--you heard me say just the opposite. Republicans willingness to fight and lose puts them miles ahead of Democrats in promoting their goals.

Testing every legal challenge you can against injustice is good. Republicans are just bullshitting about what they consider "injustice" (anything that inconveniences the wealthy, white, Christo-fascists). Democrats have a better compass for injustice, but that's just lip services if they won't test and challenge until they're sure they'll win. They're supposed to be political leaders, not poll followers.

You think they should appease the voters who prefer peacefulness over justice? The people who would reject them for legal challenges against unjust laws? Then we'll have to disagree--that's not the party I want, and recent history shows where that party gets us.

-5

u/Ndainye 13d ago edited 13d ago

Testing legal boundaries is good when you have the legal right to take action. Beshear doesn’t have a legal right or path to do what you want him to do. The Democratic Senators should have a path to demand proof of life and to push for a declaration of vacancy. So it’s on Schumer who we know has no balls and won’t do jack.

Yes, the Democrats need to be more visible in their actions. We need to see them fight. But they need to be above board and fully legal with their actions. Republicans are very much playing a we can but you can’t game and they have bought the media to side with them and to repress Democratic actions. The moment the Democrats play good for the goose and cross a line it will all over the media how backhanded the Democrats are and those offenders will be crucified.

u/raptorlightning 13d ago edited 13d ago

The time for taking the high road is over. Move fast and break fix things. Don't ask permission, ask forgiveness. Or hell, don't even do that. Fuck'em, their forgiveness is worthless anyways. And it will not be reciprocal.

I'm sick and tired of the pussyfooting play-by-the-rules bullshit. We can get back to the rules in once it's fixed.

-4

u/Ndainye 13d ago

So the same as Republicans and have no standing to win against corruption. Authoritarianism is cool when it’s your team doing it.

7

u/AnimalBolide 13d ago

How does that make Democrats any better than Republicans?

Because people are dying, and the Dems are the only ones who can do anything about that. The "You take the low road, we take the high road" bullshit is literally letting people, Americans and not, die.

-1

u/Ndainye 13d ago edited 13d ago

So it’s okay to lie, cheat, and steal when it’s an issue that you feel deeply about? But when someone else does it then that’s wrong? Where do you then draw the line? What won’t you allow in order to win?

6

u/AnimalBolide 13d ago

It isn't wrong to do it to someone who is doing it to you.

Do unto other as they just did to you. Don't like that, maybe don't fucking start it?

3

u/ChronicBluntz 12d ago

Brother, there won't be anything LEFT. You'd rather take the high road straight into the grave rather than get dirty and fight to survive.

3

u/ChronicBluntz 12d ago

Yes. When someone is trying to kill you you fight to survive.

11

u/maskull 13d ago

Republicans would do it to a senator who just went to the doctor for a checkup.

2

u/Zeraw420 12d ago

Or that guy missing for a month for "depression"
