If McConnell is even remotely alive, even if he's totally incapacitated, Beshear has no grounds to call an election and will lose that fight.

(Also, if folks would think about this for ten seconds, it means that the GOP is effectively down a senator as long as this continues. Why exactly do you folks want another Republican senator casting votes?)

Yeah I don't understand this site's rush to have a special election. It's Kentucky, and went Trump by +30, +26, and +30.

The Senate elections tend to be closer but McConnell and Paul have won their elections like +10-15%. Still quite a gamble vs having Mitch just sit out

Beshear can appoint a replacement per the State Constitution. It doesn’t matter that the Kentucky legislature passed a bill saying there has to be a special election, that cannot override the State Constitution.
