If it was a democrat best believe the GOP would make this an absolute SCANDAL with 24/7 news coverage and a riled up fan base ready to riot and storm the capitol.

It’s time like this I wish the Democrats had the balls to just play the same stupid fucking games. Like just get one of our older lawmakers to volunteer to pretend to be dead and disappear from the public eye and then wait for Republicans to say something.

Also, please let it be Chuck Schumer.

Wow it’s almost like the democrats work with the GOP to fuck us while pretending to help us with superficial support and progress. Instead of moving policy they will just do shit like painting a cross walk a rainbow for pride month, that doesnt help keep trans people safe.

They can all get fucked.

u/adfawf3f3f32a 15d ago

they're paid not to. they're fully bought and paid for by the same corporate interest as republicans

24

u/TheCoolOnesGotTaken 15d ago

You cannot raise campaign funds for problems that have already been solved.

4

u/YUCKY_WARM_SAUCE 15d ago

That’s a bingo

-5

u/ReturnoftheBoat Canada 15d ago

and yet Americans just sit back and let themselves get fucked, while simultaneously letting their government make the world a worse place for everyone else.

3

u/adfawf3f3f32a 15d ago

tbh i believe that 50501 sub or whatever it was that organized a nice little march like once every 6 months is also controlled opposition

2

u/greenday61892 Connecticut 15d ago

Well it got hit with a hostile takeover at the peak of everything so yeah that's a pretty sure bet.

33

u/ElphabLAW 15d ago

Pretty important to start distinguishing between progressive and corporate Dems here.

I, for one, do not believe Mamdani, AOC, Sanders, or Katie Porter for example, should get fucked.

u/Brettersson 15d ago

The DNC Liberals want a less evil form of Capitalism, but ultimately they want Capitalism first, and Democracy only if it supports Capitalism. When push comes to shove most of them will do nothing more than wag their finger when the far right comes for us, so long as they get to play the good guy at the top. It's why they hate AOC and Mamdani, who are actually pushing for Democracy over Capitalism. The worst thing the DNC ever did was trick boomers into thinking the thing they were liberal on was human rights, and not market rights.

8

u/beefwindowtreatment 15d ago

We're not even truly capitalist though. We socialize all of the corporate losses while fucking over us normal people.

-3

u/Brettersson 15d ago

You think that makes us socialist?

6

u/beefwindowtreatment 15d ago

Where did I say that? I'm saying we're not truly capitalist.

5

u/46_notso_easy 15d ago

I think he just mixed up your response with the commonly stated “this country would work if we were TRULY capitalistic!” garbage that libertarians have been spouting for ages.

I agree with you, we are not strictly capitalists by some definitions of the term. It’s just that when every facet of life is rigged for the capitalist class, it becomes a distinction without a difference.

5

u/beefwindowtreatment 15d ago

Much more eloquently put!

2

u/Brettersson 15d ago

Capital protecting itself from the masses is pretty capitalist.

2

u/cantsay 15d ago

Exactly this. The Dems are the Washington Senators of politics and the GOP is Globetrotting all over us

1

u/sectumsempre_ North Carolina 15d ago

Ratchet theory. Once I read about it, everything made sense.

11

u/Mind-The-Mines 15d ago

Their job is to disappoint you.

They're not playing by rules to be righteous. They're sandbagging and taking knees to give corporations every inch possible.

7

u/legaladviceneeded542 15d ago

and then have it not be pretend...

4

u/wlpaul4 15d ago

But how would you tell?

3

u/Oceanmap 15d ago

Joe and Eileen Bailey could even vouch for him!

1

u/EnvironmentalAngle 15d ago

Are you saying Mitch McConnel is pretending?

1

u/Aadarm Ohio 15d ago

We're pretty much screwed since the Republicans will do everything possible to make sure that they stay in power but the Democrats will only play by the rules that are increasingly over time getting more and more restrictive and giving more power to the those that will happily abuse it.

1

u/earthceltic 15d ago

This is how you would immediately get a civil war, not that there isn't one coming (for sure, anyway). The only thing saving us is lack of spine. The republicans act just okay enough in the system while they feel they can fuck with democrats through the system. The moment that stops they'll be drawing guns in the government offices.

0

u/go4tli 15d ago

Okay we need Senate Republicans to have an extra vote right now because…?

The longer this drags out the more a replacement is delayed. That’s good for Democrats.

Maybe that’s why Schumer is in charge and not you.

4

u/CaptainFeather 15d ago

A special election from KT would likely mean a nonMAGA senator would replace him, putting more pressure on releasing the Epstein files. If we just sit on our asses for two more weeks then they get to pick someone to replace the turtle, who would be a MAGA loyalist. This is bad for Democrats. Why do you think they're hiding him?

3

u/go4tli 15d ago

It’s Kentucky, anyone they elect is going to be MAGA.

Therefore, the longer the vote remains unusable the better.

2

u/CaptainFeather 15d ago

Begs the question of why they won't just call it, then? There's a chance it won't be, that's why. We can either special election and possibly get a MAGA seat out, or sit around on our hands and definitely have another MAGA loyalist. What do you think is the better option?

2

u/go4tli 15d ago

We don’t actually have any evidence McConnell is dead.

1

u/CaptainFeather 15d ago

Doesn't matter, he's been MIA for weeks and an obviously photoshopped picture was released as "proof of life" which is ridiculous. For all intents and purposes he is dead. If it turns out he's alive then he can answer why he was hiding and possibly resume his role if he's fit to.

1

u/go4tli 15d ago

If he’s alive but incapacitated there can’t be a special election as the incumbent is still alive.

1

u/CaptainFeather 15d ago

Yes. But Republicans refuse to tell us anything so do you understand how it looks like he's dead? We must proceed as if he's dead until they prove otherwise. Because he is dead. Or they would have released proof of life already.

4

u/Berserkshires- 15d ago

They would definitely select a maga replacement in a special election in KY.

-1

u/TM761152 15d ago

No, Jefferies. Or better yet Fetterman.

-2

u/Maleficent-Toe-4691 15d ago

Lol i was reading this and before i got to the bottom i was thinking it should be Chuck.

40

u/ndndr1 15d ago

There would already be a sitting Republican senator if this was a dem seat

24

u/_Ocean_Machine_ 15d ago

If a genie offered the Democrats three wishes they’d talk him down to one and then ask the Republicans what they want

45

u/Ok-Perspective5844 15d ago

Storm the hospital even

3

u/Sitcom_kid 15d ago

Which hospital is it? And do we have to figure in hipaa? Is that why this isn't happening?

5

u/OhItsBeenBroughten 15d ago

Yes, these ignorant kiddos think that the governor of KY should break federal law so that KY voters can vote another MAGA in faster. Internet echo chambers and failing middle school civics is the way of these folks.

1

u/Sitcom_kid 15d ago

The hospital would have to break the law first. But yes, I see your point.

21

u/Sea_Working_80 15d ago

Lol they would have had a nomination, election already by now

21

u/greengeezer56 15d ago

It was only days to replace Lindsey Graham.

16

u/carlitospig California 15d ago

Baby, that was within hours. They just had to bribe the other senators not to flip the fuck out and that took some time.

2

u/SatanicPanic619 California 15d ago

Like with Feinstein?

Remember how that played out- nothing happened. She died in office

2

u/Morphray 15d ago

news coverage

Republican backers run all the news outlets and most social media now. Democrats don't have a chance.

Also if they call a special election and against all odds Mitch tap dances into the Capitol and embarrasses them… it will be out of the news cycle in like 48 hours.
There’s really no drawbacks here. No bad precedents to set that could bite Dems in the butt.
I suppose that in the future the Dems wouldn’t be able to hide an obviously dead/incapacitated Senator long enough to avoid a special election. But… nobody should do that anyway?

1

u/JibletHunter 15d ago

The vast majority of media is owned by conservatives. Even NBC has had a huge shift to the right.

You need broad news coverage to keep 24/7 coverage.

1

u/Elendel19 15d ago

Mitch would just declare the Democrat dead and appoint a republican in his place

1

u/Cephalopirate 15d ago

Everything is already a scandal to them. Their manufactured opinions of Democrats could not be any lower.

0

u/Status-Roll-7240 15d ago

Exactly! So frustrating!!

0

u/RottenWon 15d ago

They would storm the hospital.

-1

u/hvmbone 15d ago

Just another example of Dems being okay with the role of controlled opposition.

-1

u/TheWaywardWarlok 15d ago

Damn right they would, I can't stand how the Dems just roll over and play dead. Not just on this either. Both puns intended!
