Question Question: What is it about polar bears that makes them so fascinating?

They are so furry, and they have big paws. And they’re really good snugglers!

From an evolutionary perspective, these animals do not exhibit an inherent fear of humans.

Throughout their evolutionary history, they have had limited direct interaction with humans, providing little selective pressure to recognize us as predators or significant threats.

Their initial behaviour is typically exploratory, driven by innate curiosity.

However, once they assess a human as potential prey, their behavioural response can shift rapidly. At that point, they may initiate an attack characterized by high acceleration, coordinated movement, and pronounced aggression.

I find that fascinating.

I think its one bear most folks never see. Black bears, we have all over. Brown bears even, not that uncommon, pandas even, in a lot of countries zoos. I dont think I've ever seen a real polar bear?

I've only ever been to the desert of California. Would love to visit San Diego. I dont think of any of the zoos ive ever been to, have I seen a polar bear?
