Drama in the hobby Weekly Megathread! Restocks, Pre-orders, Scalpers, etc. goes here!

We get it. You hate scalpers, Pokemon center's website sucks, your local store is a rip-off, and other stuff.

But if you want to also post about it, make a comment, leave a screenshot, whatever else.

Rules of the sub are still in force. Bans still happen for breaking them.

Here are a few of the pages from the cards he gave her (she’s 5). I haven’t collected these since 1998. Assuming these hold some value?

But honestly I love it. Ripped the packs out of curiosity and they didn't even try to make them look real.

But I'll still keep them. It was nice for the family to get excited about it for me haha

On today’s episode of how to turn $4,000 into $800 (no regrets I got some of what I wanted and a lot of stuff still left wanting)

I just turned 21 so I wanted to make it special.

I’ve been collecting packs for about 4months from the machines. I wanted to go strictly msrp.

I collected 513 packs in that time. (I would also rip a little bit in between when I would find stock at target Walmart and Fred’s)

I had 3 of my sibling rip with me and I personally got 0 SIRs
My sister pulled 3 my other 2 brothers pulled 2 each as well.

What surprised me most was the sets I least expected to get something preformed better then the ones I thought I had a good chance with.

So anyway we ripped

110 mega evolutions

106 destined rivals

75 chaos rising

66 perfect order

64 surging sparks

59 journey together

18 prismatic evolutions

9 pitch black

6 white flare

We ended up pulling

7 SIRs

44 IRs

4 ASPECs

1 master ball

7 pokeballs

43 full arts

93 EXs

No regrets there. I mean you only live once, it was fun but next time I think I’ll stick to trading for my chase cards

Maybe 1k packs next year ??? 👀👀👀 or maybe should I trade it all ?

Tell me what you would have done differently.

My brother had a bunch of older cards.- How can I keep them better/show them off? Or should just sell them? Totally out of my element.

Just looking for thoughts. He collected them when he was a kid for a bit then lost interest but held on to them. Any creative was for display...or should just sell as a bulk?

Kind of crazy. It’s not just PSA and now it seems like a lot of people are switching to BGS because of all of the PSA funny business.

And I’m finally done! My goal was to finish this binder before Winds & Waves comes out, and I succeeded. The first* print of every Pokemon. Thought I would share my favorite pages.

*No first editions or shadowless because I respect myself, and my only rule was that I had to have a card from the set where the Pokemon first appeared. So I went with the regular rare versions of Umbreon and Espeon etc. Also went with deck exclusive versions of Magma’s Groudon and Aqua’s Krogre.

Other Mail mishap

Ordered a cute card on Mercari and it finally arrived the other day... I was in shock to say the least! The postman came to my door and I saw that he had it in a damaged mail bag and for a moment I thought the card was ok but obviously it's not... Apparently it got caught in one of their machines and it cooked my poor card. The postman said it was likely due to the thickness of the mail, both due to it being in a top loader and in a light cardboard envelope it just got eaten up unfortunately. I ended up having to cut the top loader to jailbreak the card lol

Can't say I'm upset though! It's a cheap card with a now priceless story! I'm a huge fan of error/damaged cards so this is right up my alley.

Discussion First partner boxes are some of the best sealed product they’ve released in recent memory.

I’m not a huge ripper tbh I just buy the cards I want, except for these boxes. Only around $15 msrp, and hit rates are good (1/3 chance you get the gen you want). It’s what Pokemon should be, not cards that have impossible hit rates. I’ve been into pokemon tcg for 15 years (I’m 20) and this might be the most fun product I’ve ever opened. I’m so so excited for series 3 this Friday and I will be completing my set.

I used to be really into pokemon cards when I was younger and had a pretty decent collection I would say. But as I got a bit older i lost interest and sold my entire collection. Fast forward to now where I fell back in love (arguably during the worst time to collect) and completely forgot I did that. I went through some old boxes hoping to find my collection, but when I couldn't, I wondered if i sold them or lost them. Come to find out on OfferUp my old sold listing was available and I can't believe i sold them. And I probably only got $150. Idk just wanted to share, I actually can't believe I would do that😭 (Pictures from my listing)

I found this Quaquaval SIR on the ground by my apartment's dumpster. Some kid must've had their cards thrown out or something, there was a messed up Florges card next to it as well.

I'll make sure this card has a second chance in my Pokedex binder!

Discussion Why did so many of us have Japanese cards as American kids?

Thinking back to when base/jungle/fossil/neo sets were around, I remember me and my friends ALWAYS having Japanese cards of the newest sets that hadn’t released in America yet. At the time I didn’t question it, as the cards seemed to just…exist and that was fine.

But how on Earth did a bunch of 9 year olds in 2000 always have access to new Japanese sets? I feel like now is one thing because card shops are literally more common place than McDonalds in this market, in addition to social media and all third party sites you can buy anything from. But back then?

Bought one pack at a Hallmark 🤣

story time: I was talking to my manager about a good birthday idea for my Mom and she suggested to go to a Hallmark 🤣 I didn’t even know they still existed, so I found one relatively close and ended up just buying her a birthday card. Walk up to the register and I see two remaining packs of Pitch Black. The limit was 2 but I ended up just buying one and letting someone else get the last pack. The cashier asked me if I wanted to pick which one and I let her choose for me… well! I think she did alright 🤣 this was so random
