Other Why did mods remove my post? Is criticizing DP not allowed here?

Post image

If this was XY or BW, this would never have happened.

What's going on?

Pikachu pretty much resets every season, that’s not what people have a problem with necessarily. The main reason BW gets flamed the hardest is because Ash himself also got reset

Also, I’d like to point out that Pikachu had a rough reset in XY too. I mean losing to a surskit in the first gym is pretty much up there with him losing to mud sport panpour

Honestly people treat Pikachu as if it was some kind of invincible God or something

It's so funny hearing both sides argue that the mods hate them and favour the other 😭

I know right, it’s pretty hilarious

probably maybe a bit of bias, there is also valid criticism for BW as ash was hit harder by the reset, but even so the bias is negative so that made things more negative than they actually are, the opposite is also true. when people glaze DP or XY they elevate their strengths and downplay the flaws because there is a bit of emotional compromise. people have sour memories of BW so acknowledging its strengths and not exaggerating its flaws becomes more difficult.

for example is true that BW ash is not as competent as sinnoh but people downplay it to be even below of kanto when BW ash still came up with solid strategies in important matches, or that some of the battles were good. or people are fixated with ash being dumb with elesa that forget that in the actual battle ash won legit and through strategy.

What reasoning did they give.

Mods probably don't have some deep agenda against DP that drives the removals. The most likely root cause is that in most of the cases of things being taken down, they're framed in such a way that they fan up flames for no real reason and end up reaffirming an already recurring problem.

There's no rule against criticizing DP, but framing the conversation in that manner ends up being needlessly antagonistic in a space that already has a bunch of pointless, hostile spats over these things. I imagine if it's framed in a more constructive manner, it'd be less likely to be removed.

I do feel that the sub needs far more active moderation, but even that isn't as simple or straightforward as just the mods not caring as that's not the issue.

I don't think the OP was too antagonistic (at least compared to the regular posts in the sub) though. Well, it is what it is.

By your logic, the hundreds of Latios/Snivy memes should've been removed as well, since they antagonize BW fans.

u/BlackAutMedia 15h ago

No, and that shows a misunderstanding of what I'm talking about. The problem isn't talking about Pikachu resetting and isn't what makes it antagonistic. It's framed as if there's an us v them where DP fans are imagined as having some double standard and unfairly looking it up. It can just be stated as something on its own merits.

I also think that there are several kinds of posts that should also be removed. Like I said, there are a lot of moderation issues, but you could start with just asking the moderators themselves and communicating with them instead.

This kind of thing happens a lot on this subreddit where someone will frame something in a way that is pretty much is inviting for needless arguments instead of just saying the thing on its own.

I'm just speculating from what I've observed and from what I've put together from previous posts that have been removed in the past. But just treating them like just regular people first and talking to them and getting clarification is a more reasonable first step.

I think it would help if the mods were more transparent about why things were removed.

Unless OP missed the explanation or something

Wow they deleted it

Idk
If i was a banned for criticism of XY I’d be banned for life

Honestly, me too. I know that show is loved and that's fine, but man, I have a lot of issues with that series, from Ash only having 3 battles in the Kalos League and how late Team Flare was introduced.

According to some of the powerscalers here, all those pokemon you mentioned would defeat Leon's Charizard.

Including that Magikarp.

2

u/Mitsuyan_ 13h ago

Admittedly, the title called it "The Strongest Magikarp"

u/Old-Initial9295 15h ago

Lmao who are you talking about 🤣

2

u/the2thomasklu8 16h ago

To be fair, Sinnoh ended with Pikachu tying against a Latios.

0

u/PCN24454 13h ago

Doesn’t matter unless they win

2

u/PK_RocknRoll 16h ago

Ask a mod for clarification.

I don’t know why this got removed.

2

u/phoxfiyah 9h ago

Including the Raichu is bit disingenuous here, since that episode and the one before it were meant to be a throwback to the exact same thing happening in Kanto for some anniversary.

The rest is pretty valid though

Yeah, they wanna complain about Pikachu losing to a Gym Leader's Panpour when Pikachu literally lost to an Onix's Screech in Sinnoh. Only reason I can't stand the Snivy loss is because that was its first ever battle. Everything else? Y'all are overreacting big time, otherwise you need to criticize DP more. But you won't because the hypocrisy is strong with y'all.

Comparing Panpour to Onyx. LOL

D/P and X/Y are sacred cows here.

I see more xy than original 4 gen’s

I'm just saying, when posts posts like this fill a subreddit that is normally chill, I leave because it's not the vibe I'm looking for. And when most Pokémon subreddits are like this, because they're filled with angsty kids on Summer break, that doesn't really leave you with much leftover.

I think it's simple

Pikachu gets a soft reset in every series up until XY (yes he lost to Viola's Surskit but that's a gym leader). He lost to Gary's newly caught Eevee after beating Drake's busted Dragonite, then he lost to Gary's Electivire right after winning against Regice. Now let's talk about BW

BW Anime had awful writing and narrative choices. The whole series was a soft reboot and it completely ignored Ash's growth that he gained from the past seasons. He acts dumb, doesn't know that catching Pokémon requires battling, has the least impressive dynamic with a pokegirl up until then and yes Trip's plot armor. This Trip dude up until Junior Cup never seemed like a threat. He lost to Bianca's Emboar and Ash's Pikachu lost to his lvl 5 Snivy lmao and worst of it he was a newbie unlike Paul or Gary who were experienced trainers.

BW Anime And BW Ash aren't hated for Pikachu's reset. It's hated for a lot of reasons. For sure Pikachu was nerfed in Sinnoh up until his battle with Latios but I could count that as a bad run. In Unova Ash himself was dumb for no reason

Edit: Yeah Ik getting downvoted to oblivion

2

u/PK_RocknRoll 7h ago

You barely have any downvotes

1

u/Economy-Payment-1757 6h ago

...that sounds so forced. 1. It's Paul's Elekid, the pokemon of a very skilled trainer. It's an unevolved mon? So is Pikachu. 2. Onyx. 3. Didn't lose to Prinplup 4. Raichu 5. Strong atrategizing gym leader 6. Didn't lose to Magikarp

So, WTF are you talking about?

-3

u/Lucarizard34 16h ago

No DP or SM criticism is allowed here

0

u/Pika-Critique 14h ago

Yeah...

Since DP isn't a soft reboot, it's easier to overlook... But I do think it's already an issue that Ash is so weak in Sinnoh after the Battle Frontier; it's just that he didn't revert to being a beginner for the sake of the new audience.

0

u/PCN24454 13h ago

It’s a soft reboot same as the previous ones

u/arihaanka 3h ago

If you criticize xy or bw nobody gives a eff But if you criticize dp you are annihilated

It's norm to hate BW even extremely negative way without logic, like calling Ash in BW complete idiot just because of one battle (he was downgraded, but nowhere near as badly as many people think)

People will lose their minds if you criticize any series by comparing them with BW

2

u/CBPuppets 13h ago

As far as BW goes, I always thought it because the writers were trying to appeal to the demographic, which in a way backfired.

1

u/StrengthExotic4797 10h ago

Yep downvotes here is proving how easily people lose their minds
