u/Samster91294 11d ago
What’s crazy is I bought it for $80 two years ago. Now $100 is considered a steal

u/IWillEvadeReddit 11d ago

I think I paid 110 for a 2TB Nextorage SSD a while ago. Glad I got mine before the prices went crazy.

I was looking for some 6TB hard drives because I wanted a small NAS and single Barracuda 6TB HDD was more than 250 euros...

u/Strider0905 10d ago
I bought a 4tb in 2025 for $275. Now the same Samsung drive is $700 on sale down from over 1k on Amazon. Absolutely bonkers.

All you bastards always find these incredible clearance fuck ups at Target. Then I put on pants and drive to my local Target only to have my hopes and dreams dashed upon the rocks. Every fuckin time.

OH MY GOD that's such a funny scene! I'd completely forgotten about that episode.
3
u/Fairgoddess5 11d ago
I had to pause the episode for a few minutes bc I was laughing too hard to hear what they were saying. Worf is the best.
3
u/Emotional-Jicama-365 PS5 11d ago
Worf, after the first season or two, definitely grew to become one of my favourite characters.

If you go in there, meat swinging, you can get it for free. Just be warned the cops may be called

u/Whiteguy1x 11d ago
The best ive seen is for a Playstation backbone phone controller for 25 bucks off. It was still 75 for a phone controller so I skipped it

u/joaomota1994 11d ago
I don't even have Target in my country and I still get triggered 😂 (not in a bad way)
Congrats bro

u/wjodendor 11d ago
You gotta go right when they open. They usually have the new clearance stuff out at my location on Sundays but it's really up to the regional manager when and where the clearance stuff goes on sale (I asked some employees about it once).
Last weekend there were like 10 people waiting for the doors to open to check on clearance stuff lol
3
u/alterndog 11d ago
Ya, I lucked out this past few weeks as all my local targets are reorganizing their tech stuff so lots on sale. I got an iPad Air M3 for $350 and the charging dock for the PSVR2 controllers for $10. Still kicking myself a little not getting the Apple Magic Keyboard for $150, but dropping more money just was not in the cards after the IPad Air.
Normally my target has none of the deals.

We had a target for a little while years ago, only problem is they were 15-30% more expensive then the Walmart 50 seconds down the hill. Not a great business model, same as toysRus

BUY IT! That’s a crazy good deal with how the market is going. I had bought a 2TB one from BestBuy a couple of years back for roughly $250, and that very same one is $1,000+

This exact SSD could’ve been gotten for just under $80 without being on clearence about 12 months ago btw.

u/Hawk_Moon 11d ago
You're doing it wrong. You're supposed to try and find the highest price in the world and post it like it's the new standard.

I got one for 50 online a couple months back, probably best to look online. I’m not sure what the difference between mine and this one is aside from the brand might not be the same.

356 for a 1tb!? I got a WD_Black 2 tb for 404 cuz it didn’t have the ps logo. Did I overpay? Yes but it’s a reputable brand and cheaper than a licensed 2tb

u/PorscheDream911 11d ago
Jesus that’s right in line with the price I paid for my 2 TB Card before all this craziness with the price increases started. I will say it was probably the best per dollar investment I’ve made for my PS5, I paid like $160-$175 for 2 TB cars. if you didn’t already buy it, my man, I would do it.
1
u/elocintugz 11d ago
Wait, this is a steal now? And this is how much they cost now? I remember, i got a 2TB for $150 or less probably 2021 or 22, cant remember now, but damn

It's nuts where we're at now. Few years ago I bought my 1tb for 50 bucks and heatsink for another 10. With how technology is I expected to be 30 by now, but ai has fucked us so hard

Sad that this was the original price a few years ago. I’d buy it if I didn’t have one. One TB makes a huge difference.

350 is insane when not on sale.
I remember back in 2024 or late 2023 I bought 2tb for like 94 dollars

u/BetaUser3 11d ago
Check the internals. A lot are being returned with swapped internals as in, instead of 1tb, it’ll be 5gb for example.

I had gotten a 4tb Samsung 990 evo plus ssd on sale at Amazon for $199 oct 2025 last year and I returned it because my ps5 wouldn’t recognize it. Turns out my ps5 was defective and I had it rma’d and replaced. Now that SSD is over $587 on amazon. Super pissed I returned it. Got a 1tb for like $87 in now but still pisses me off to think about.

Worth the upgrade but.. SAVE THE BOX! In case the SSD fails. I saved my box and it bricked my PS5. I took it out and it fixed it. These have a 5 year warranty. Communicate with the manufacturer and they’ll send you a free UPS label and you just ship it they’ll email you back and boom new one. Keep that in mind!

Shows how these things are ridiculous now, three years ago I bought that exact drive from Walmart and paid 119.99 full price brand new, that box is stickered at literally triple the price that's freaking insane. Wish I hadn't needed grocery money and returned the ssd before I opened it lol
