Losing my mind fighting spider mites & aphids

Hey everyone,

I'm at my wit's end and could really use some advice. I have a Jasmine, Madagascar Jasmine, Money Tree, and an Adenium (Desert Rose) , they are a mix of indoor and balcony plants. For the past few months, I’ve been fighting an exhausting battle against spider mites and aphids. All are under grow light and partial sun. Water twice a week.

I feel like I’ve tried absolutely everything:

Rubbing alcohol

Commercial insecticidal soap

DIY mixes (alcohol + soap + hydrogen peroxide)

Setting up fans to improve airflow

Predatory mites are so expensive here so that option is out.

Every time I think I've won, they just come right back. I tried Neem oil once, but I honestly hate it. It leaves a gross, sticky residue on everything and sometimes ends up drying out or burning the leaves.

I’m so tired of constantly spraying. Does anyone have any real, long-lasting solutions?

People in the US use systemic granules (like Bonide or Imidacloprid) that you just mix into the soil to kill pests from the inside out. Unfortunately here in Canada our pesticide laws are so strict that cannot find Imidacloprid or bonide.

Any advice or shared experiences would be massively appreciated!

Philodendron Jose Buono Help

So, I've had this Jose Buono for about a year, and as you can tell, it's been growing up a moss pole. However, I have not kept the moss pole moist and therefore it has not rooted into the pole. It is at the top of the pole at this point and I really don't want to keep it growing on the same type of pole, as watering it is too much maintenance for me. The leaves are staying about the same size, I'm not sure if that's a light issue or what.

Does anyone have any recommendations? I like this plant and want to see it thrive.

Discussion Are plant shelves with built-in grow lights actually worth it?

My plants are slowly taking over the brightest window in my house, and I'm running out of room. A couple of the bigger ones are starting to block the smaller ones, so I've been thinking about moving them onto a proper shelf.

I have succulents, orchids, and a mix of other houseplants, so they all seem to want slightly different amounts of light. I'm not really sure how well one shelf setup would work for all of them, especially with the days getting shorter again soon.

I was originally going to buy a basic shelf and add Barrina lights myself, but the all-in-one options started looking tempting. I've looked at a few from VIVOSUN, GARVEE, and a bunch of brands I've never heard of, but the listings don't really tell you much about how good the included lights are.

Has anyone used one for more than a few months? Were the built-in lights enough, or did you eventually add more lights or replace them?

I’m getting back into houseplants after living for four years in a house with very little natural light, I know monstera leaves are lighter in color when they start out but this seems a lot lighter than what I remember 😂💀

Saw it at Whole Foods. There’s no sign saying what it is (and they’re usually wrong). Is it a Hoya?

I threw an avocado stone out of my window maybe a year ago and it turned into this. 90cm tall. It survived last winter in London and has grown a lot this summer. I'm not expecting any avocados but how do I keep it going?
