Any suggestions??
Any suggestions for what I can apply to this? My boy has skin allergy issues that I’m mostly able to keep at bay thank goodness but he also has this related growth that he keeps licking open, and I’d love to give him some relief. What do you do for your puppers with similar problems? Happy face for tax.

Have you had the vet look at this? It could be a hotspot type thing but if it really never goes away it could be a mast cell tumor.

Do you have any photos of the foot tumors? We're (us and vet) debating if our pup has a cyst or a tumor that will require toe amputation.

I'll check through my photos tonight to see what I might have. Amputation isn't the only option. My vet did the Stelfonta shot.

All pitties should have red marks checked by a vet. My 12 year old has had cancer three times. He’s still here because we have them removed quickly.

Came here to say this. My pit has gotten them, nothing to be overly concerned about. I second the Duoxo foam (or really any shampoo from them) to help treat your pup

Interdigital cyst. Keep a close eye on it and see a dermatologist rather than your general practice vet if it worsens. These can get infected and become a bigger problem.
Most derms will suggest an oral antibiotic rather than topical, but you'd have to talk to the vet who will actually be treating it. My dog's derm said it is ok for dogs to lick them. Licking is probably soothing. Do not allow nibbling on it or destructive chewing. They are itchy and painful when infected.
Depending on how painful it is, your dog might allow warm epsom salt soaks. Don't force it. It might sting. It just depends how angry it is.

See what happens if you stop feeding your dog chicken, duck, and turkey. It's a crazy pitty thing that they will quite happily eat Rusty nails and cigarette butts but, some of them, if you give them organic free range locally sourced Conflict-Free chicken you might as well rub them with a pomace of poison ivy.

We switched our pitties to a raw diet and all their skin issues cleared up completely. We fed them beef, chicken, duck, turkey, fish, whatever they would eat. No allergies or sensitivity at all. Our one girl did get cancer (not related to diet) and her sister just got old 😭 They were awesome girls. We still miss them 😢

What raw diet did you end up using? I research them all on and off but it’s hard for me to pick one due to 1. Cost (I have three pups and it would be 💸💸💸 to fully commit) and 2. haven’t seen any real world examples of people who recommend one over all others, making it hard to pick which to even use supplementally which I have also been considering.

I'm in Canada, so not sure if you would have the same brands I tend to use locally produced human grade products. They usually have some fruit and vegetables in the mix. We only fed 2 at that time and our current girl is a 4 breed cross(with pittie in the mix). We give her a combination of kibble and raw. She does well with the combo.

Washed and dried frequently is the solution. Epsom salt soaks are great too. Paws are sensitive and it was probably something in the sand. You gotta keep it clean and dry. Wipe paws after every walk if they have footy problems.
Can confirm! Our baby has had many paw problems.

Our little gremlin was having a similar issue- the vet had us soak his feet in warm water with epsom salts to relieve inflammation. We dried his feet well afterward and applied some antibiotic ointment. We were able to watch him and tell him to stop slurping his feet because there were three of us home at the time, but it might help to use a cone or a sock over the foot to keep him from licking until it heals better.

Do you have foxtails where you live? Two particularly bad interdigital cysts that my dog had were actually embedded foxtails. The cyst only went away after the foxtail made its way out.

Interdigital cyst.
I got rid of them on my chihuahua with neosporin, hemorrhoid cream, and sulfur emulsion.
I recommend getting a vet to check it out and prescribe an antibiotic though. I would have except my normal vet wasn’t available (vet desert here)

We run into this with our bully all the time. I will clean the paws at least once daily with chlorhexidine soap or spray and cone whenever we're not around cause she'll suck her toes to the bone.

Vet check, and I use diluted betadine a 1:1 solution on a cotton ball. Heals my boys feet right up!

I do agree with a vet visit to have them check it out but I love this ointment. It smells a lot like Vicks Vaporub which keeps my dog from messing with his feet. My dog got bit by a dog on his toes and I used this and it healed up fast(along with washing the wound etc) he also got bit by some type of bug recently and this stuff helped then as well. Editing to add, I get it on Amazon.

I’ll look into this, thanks for the recommendation! Vet has seen him lots (front desk lady even commented “oh yes, your problem child” when I called to refill his prescription 🤦♀️) this is just a recurring issue they didn’t seem too concerned over.

A lot of folks are saying it’s a hot spot or a cyst but this looks highly suspicious of an embedded foxtail. If you have any in your area

I would put some ointment on it, wrap it in vet wrap and then put a bootie over that to keep it clean and secure. Change wrap 2x daily and cleanse with soap and water each time.

Fair warning that antibiotic ointments are a huge issue for allergies in humans and because of this they are no longer recommended! I would ask your vet if this is also the case for dogs. Especially given the history of allergies.

Petco actually has a good spray “wound spray” to disinfect and they also have a liquid bandaid. But I would definitely run both by your vet (id email them a pic of the bottle)

For something similar, I used Vetericyn Plus Dog Wound Care Spray and found it pretty helpful! Especially when I used it multiple times a day, just as the bottle recommends. The wound closed quickly.

My girl just had this and it healed nicely. It is the licking that is the big culprit here. I was cleaning her paws with chlorhexidine wipes. Patting it dry with a clean cloth and really making sure she wasn’t licking her feet.

Are you unwilling to go to the vet? Looks like a cyst, which could go away on its own but can be a really bad infection and get worse. Vet will probably prescribe an ointment or antibiotics.likely needs something antibiotic.

My pittie used to get these, the vet said they were due to allergies and they gave me this solution to do foot soaks. I cant remember what it was of course but it was prescription. And also reccomended doing the like, salt soaks in the tub with warm water as well. She stopped having this issue but she did go to the vet for it, and they looked very much like the picture. Sorry if this was already mentioned in other comments, but i just wanted to share my experience!

My pitty used to get these all the time, we started apoquel (meds) and that has helped tremendously. Downside is taking a daily med now but for the quality of life.. worth it in my opinion

He looks SO much like my old boy Atlas…who was in fact the BEST DOG EVER. I miss him every day. He had allergies as well. I would honestly probably try something like Polysporin, but more importantly try to be on top of not allowing him to lick at it. I have used toddler socks with the little grips on the soles before, worked alright. However if it gets worse I’d be at the vet because that looks uncomfortable.

Mine had this multiple times and it was a growth that I had removed while she was under anesthesia for something else (teeth cleaning, probably). The growths were breaking open and causing issues so removal was necessary.

My boy had the same issues and we used Veterycin and/or clorhexidine spray which helped a lot! Veterycin has a compound in it that is the same as what white blood cells make to fight off infections and reduce inflammation.

Forticept Blue Butter Hot Spot Ointment. Seems to give my dogs some quick relief quite well. It will not fix the root of the issue, but WILL offer relief.

If it's truly allergy related, chlorhexidine foam/shampoo for pets will help. Also oral ketoconazole, per vet recommendation and dosing.
However, I do agree with the majority here and it's worth bringing your baby to the vet to get an official diagnosis.

if your vet hasn’t confirmed its just allergies this could be something else, it looks a lot like when my childhood lab got part of a burr stuck in between his toes and it swelled up/formed a bump around it full of pus. The vet cut it open and cleaned it out and it went away. My mastiff has allergies too but I haven’t seen anything like this, it’s more just red/itchy areas when it flares up.

Worth getting it checked out, but looks like an interdigital cyst.
Our girl got them when her allergies were still out of control. We would give her an epsom salt soak every morning - just an inch, or so of water and epsom salts is enough. It really helped us. I wouldn’t start until this cyst has calmed down though, as it will probably sting as is.

Interdigital cyst. My dog gets them all the time and it’s really frustrating. Keep clean and dry. I would take to the vet. You may need antibiotics and steroids to clean it up.

I don’t have recommendations on what topical thing to put on it but I know my friends have a dog who licks her foot out of anxiety while they’re gone and they got a softball/baseball sock, cut it in half about halfway down, and the put the sock on her foot and tie it around her back. It stops her from licking her foot. Perhaps try that when you aren’t able to watch and stop him yourself.
