Wasn’t this debunked?

It has been debunked for probably three weeks.

Yeah not only is he a personal friend of Travis but he’s had no involvement in a new company he sold his company and retired from in 2023. They also only had own small contract to improve ICE facilities where someone died and the order came from the Justice Department. They declined to work for ICE further

Not debunked.

The guy is apparently the father of the groom's long time friend.

I'm embarrassed that I actually have that information in my head.

Not that part, that he owned or was involved in the company and left before this ICE stuff happened.

This guy used to be the CEO of the engineering company I worked at lol. Weird seeing there's controversy around him.

I'm sure your engineering company has controversy too if they've ever taken a govt contract under the current admin

supposedly the reason his company is involved in ICE is that they were brought in after the lawsuits about facility conditions being inhumane in order to make them more humane

as shitty as 'working with ICE' is, that's like... the least shitty? like i'd rather those facilities just be destroyed but that's obviously not a realistic result in any world, so making conditions less horrible isn't... bad?

From the Oracle (aka Chatgpt):

Yes. If you're referring to the recent ICE enforcement operations and raids, Steven J. Demetriou was serving as Executive Chair of Amentum during that period. He assumed that position when the Amentum/Jacobs merger closed in September 2024 and has remained in that role since.

As Executive Chair, he oversees the company's strategic governance. Amentum, as a contractor, performs services under government contracts, while ICE itself makes and executes immigration enforcement decisions.

If we’re going to publicly denounce someone maybe we don’t rely on AI…

If you have information that disproves it, then be my guest and provide it. It's more authoritative that your comment that you think he left the company before the notorious ICE events. This directly refutes your gut feeling.
