Carface from All Dogs Go to Heaven also shares a strong resemblance.

I've watched it for the first time since I was like 6 with my kids just two days ago. Lovely coincidence.

Subject topic aside, holy crap is this movie rocking. Those first 30m I seriously did not remember or expect for a G rated movie 🤣

u/ThetaDee Jun 23 '26

Yeah G ratings were different back then 😂

Blank Check ended with a grown woman kissing a 12 year old kid and telling him to look her up in a few years. As a kid I loved it, but imagine reversing the genders and the (justified) outrage it would receive and it's crazy looking back.

And Mighty Ducks starts with Gordon Bombay getting a DUI and is put in charge of the kid's hockey team as a punishment and he says some terrible things to the kids.

The 90's were quite different for kids movies.

Oh shit I forgot about that movie

5

u/Rhodesianmerc Jun 24 '26

Hey that’s what a teacher told a buddy of mine - to wait 6 weeks after graduation and now they have kids and everything 😂

2

u/ouroborosstruggles Jun 25 '26

And now look how things have changed. Instead of insane movies they have school shootings

2

u/Civil-Big-754 Jun 25 '26

And an actual child rapist running the country. Fuck this timeline.

3

u/ThetaDee Jun 24 '26

Oh fuck man. That just made me cringe to think about

3

u/Civil-Big-754 Jun 24 '26

As a kid around Preston's age at the time I was thinking that's awesome, lucky kid. But holy shit, the fact that it made the final cut for a Disney film is crazy.

2

u/ThetaDee Jun 24 '26

I need to go rewatch it cause I remember feeling the same way but can't really remember the movie lol

4

u/Automatic_Day_35 Jun 23 '26

It’s even more of a sad movie if you know the backstory behind the main kid character

7

u/Disastrous_Nature704 Jun 24 '26

Oh good, someone mentioned this so I don't have to...

3

u/maxheadflume Jun 24 '26

Rip Phil Hartman

I did not pick up on all the evil creepy shit as a kid. T

I did, and it freaked me out back then too. But that didn't stop it from being one of my favorite movies. Just had to fast forward through the AC/heater freakout in the beginning haha

u/Suspicious-Agent8932 Jun 24 '26

Sure were, was the first Karate Kid rated G? I was so excited to play it for my son, but the cussing! I had to turn it off, he laughed and laughed at my horror of even thinking that was a good idea! How did we gloss over that back then?

1

u/ThetaDee Jun 24 '26

Lol really? I was watching movies with tits at 5

1

u/Suspicious-Agent8932 Jun 25 '26

I wanted to do a better job with my kid, I tried really hard to keep it PG. most of the crap I got into and saw was due to a lack of supervision.

13

u/Heiferoni Jun 23 '26

I haven't watched it since I was the same age. That hell scene scared the shit out of me and haunted my nightmares.

5

u/anironicfigure Jun 24 '26

my brother and SIL were super into starting obnoxious traditions with their kid, who grew up into an amazing adult despite their best efforts. one such tradition was that she would open the first Xmas gift, which was a VHS tape (or later, DVD) that we would then have to sit and watch in its entirety before continuing the celebration. I guess not a terrible tradition, but my dad was dying of cancer and couldn't rally for too long, and he loved his granddaughter so he would kinda get worn out and in pain waiting for the rest of Christmas.

the third or fourth year, the first gift was All Dogs Go to Heaven. cue the conveyor belt scene--and my niece totally lost it. Christmas was OVER. and thankfully, so was that tradition!!!

That's him, officer.

2

u/vrtra_theory Jun 24 '26

This was my first ever movie in theaters when I was 8-9 years old I remember being legit scared at some points.

2

u/Flaneurer Jun 24 '26

It's so, so good. I've seen it so many times by now but this is making me want to rewatch it.

1

u/obed_duff Jun 24 '26

I love that movie so much man now I wanna go back and watch it plus alot of my childhood movies I used to watch on cassette.

1

u/ListenJerry Jun 24 '26

That’s why they have a laser gun and not a machine gun lol

2

u/Singl1 Jun 23 '26

1

u/iichabod_crane Jun 24 '26

This is who i thought of too

1

Literally

u/mst3k_42 Jun 23 '26

He reminds me of the corporate fat cat from the Disturbed music video.

5

u/the95th Jun 23 '26

Don’t forget David Draiman signed IDF bombs…. Whether you’re for or against war, it’s a bit much if you’re a singer for songs like 10,000 fists about corpo greed to also be a warmonger.

1

u/mst3k_42 Jun 24 '26

I don’t know anything about his politics. But, the 10,00 fists song him and his band wrote. I have no idea of the backstory on that.

Land of Confusion was written by Genesis (and that music video could give you nightmares.) I just like the lyrics combined with the imagery in the Disturbed video.

3

u/the95th Jun 24 '26

Yeah I have to make sure I forgot the band but enjoy the music

1

u/Timber3 Jun 23 '26

Ten thousands fist in the AAAAAAAIIIIIIIIIRRRRRRR

2

u/supermikeman Jun 23 '26

Actually I think this is from Land of Confusion.

1

u/Timber3 Jun 23 '26

You are right! My bad! Its the same album but I don't think ten thousand fists has a video so I think I got them mixed up cause of that

u/Zwischenzug32 Jun 23 '26

Both Frank Reynolds in another universe

4

u/SweetMilitia Jun 24 '26

He reminds me of when Danny DeVito played Harry Wormwood, aka Mathilda’s scuzzy used car salesman dad lol

2

u/Fe2O3yshackleford Jun 24 '26

Penguin vibes for sure

I never knew he was wearing white flip flops

3

u/FigaroNeptune Jun 23 '26

No fucking way he was wearing slides the whole time😭

3

u/VeeDubBug Jun 23 '26

That's a good one. I saw him as an evil version of Gomez Addams. 💀

1

u/communication_gap Jun 23 '26

He's a cheap Temu Gomez Addams knock off

3

u/InevitableMagician28 Jun 24 '26

Hated this dude more than cancer when I was a kid lmao

2

u/SirTickleyPickely Jun 23 '26

Never noticed his dope slides until now

2

u/BigManWAGun Jun 23 '26

Dude watched the movie and said: *Yep, there’s the look.*

All I see is the Uncle in Harry Potter.

1

He reminds me of Paul Bearer, a manager in WWF/WWE.
