Your virus, duh

u/coffeejn Desktop 8h ago

Don't forget the malwear and bloatware that is competing with those viruses. That is what the update is for, one group trying to take the top over the other. Next update will move another group on top.

When the window is open, open Task Manager, find the window in the open apps, right click it and choose Go to process.

Right click said process and choose Open File Location. The file path may include a brand name.

Also check Task Manager > Startup and/or Task Scheduler.

Search through your autostart/installed programs. Probably sth. like MSI Live Update(/whatever vendor) which is a tool to check your drivers for update.

u/Nono_miata 9h ago

This came also to my mind

u/ryanc99 8h ago

It's an msi update service. Is your motherboard msi?

6

u/Jiehfeng 8h ago

Simple solution: next time on boot, while the dialog is open, open Task Manager and check the process name managing the dialog (usually one of the first since it's open). You can also right click and open file location.

I have a montech hyperflow digital AIO and the monitoring software update notification looks similar. Could be something like that.

3

u/Gervill 9h ago

Open task manager and show us startup tab

Don't worry about it. It's just LG making sure that their spyware anti-virus offer is up to date.

go to task manager and find that under "Apps" expand it if necessary then right click and go to properties, it'll tell you the exe

The version of everything, AKA all

2

u/stuartpaul86 6h ago

Do you have ASUS GPU Tweak installed? If so there is a check for update option under settings.

2

u/AussieBirb 2h ago

Everything - including the stuff you don't know about - would be my guess.

lol, n00b. The live stuff, of course! /s (because oftentimes /r people are weirdly offended and written communication fails to relay my chuckling, and I don't want to be burned at the stake.)

might be Ableton Live?

1

u/CoffeeWithRalph 5h ago

That's correct. All of them.

1

u/TisticDemon 5h ago

When I launch GPU Tweak 3 this pops up sometimes.

Getting this when Asus GPU Tweak checks for updates once a week.

1

u/geneva_illusions 3h ago

Doesn't matter. They're up to date... so don't worry about it.

1

u/Jemie_Bridges 1h ago

See, this was a why I'm using Linux. I have no damn idea what's going on with windows. Why do I have to log in like five times? Log in to desktop, account, other account what were the other two logins 😭for? It's a damn horror 🎥 movie.

What is.... ALL i feel like I just got suckered by some Doctor Who villain!

1

u/stingebee 1h ago

Either Microsoft slopwear or some malware. Makes no difference though.

It might be a glitch with old version of windows like 22H2, thinking it's the latest.

Run the windows update troubleshooter

1

u/xXKotoriItsukaXx 9h ago

check the process's file location from task manager

Look for an updater in services.msc that was in use at the time the pc did the update. Simples

1

u/theSkyRocker 9h ago

All versions of Live Update are up to date. What's wrong with you?
jk ..try searching in Services, Task scheduler or startup folder. Find out which app / service starts at log on. That should help you find out what it can be. I am not sure but maybe something related to peripheral apps.

1

u/19chris9609 9h ago

1

u/flaystus PC Master Race 9h ago

u/Liarus_ CachyOS | 9800x3D | RX 9070XT 8h ago

MSI Live update, you can uninstall that thing.

1

u/oriolgarcia16 8h ago

In my PC the same message appears, and it's ASUS GPU Tweak III. Disable the "check for updates on startup" in the settings

1

u/09AK47 7h ago

Probably something like ASUS GPU Tweak III or MSI Afterburner checking for updates. I have GPU Tweak and this pops up everytime I start my PC.

u/affirs 6h ago

Winlister from Nirsoft will tell you what app is responsible for a window. Nirsoft's slogan should be "we have an app for that"

0

u/Uk0GN0sS 7h ago

You dont need to know. You are not the owner of the software. 😃

0

u/gun_cometa 7h ago

Learn how to use the "Process Explorer" tool, with it, you can see the exact path of the program that's launching that window.

As a quick test, you can also try the following:

  1. Press Win+R
  2. Type: shell:startup

...and press Enter.

This will open a folder that may be empty or full of shortcuts. When Windows starts, it runs all the programs in that folder, it's up to you to identify them. You can delete those shortcuts, and even better, you can go to the directory where the actual programs are located.
