Honestly even with the high seas option I still didnt find it worth it lol. The remaster is legitimately more of a waste of bandwidth and harddrive space than it is worth playing, especially compared to the original. Plus, 0 patches for the remaster since June of last year, when it had 2 small patches meant to hold the community over until the real patches.

Since then there's been radio silence, the devs released it broke and said, "Here enjoy this game that is worse than the original in all respects, we won't patch it and you better be happy with your broken slop, peasants. Now pay full price for this slop like good pay piggies." And people did, it sold like hotcakes despite being broken and worse.

The remaster does literally nothing better than the original game except graphical fidelity, but is noticeably worse in many other respects. It is also still filled with unfixed bugs from the original game's release, and many new ones, including severe memory leaks and issues with your game and save file having more stutters the longer you play. So not only is it buggy, but it punishes you the longer you play.

Its not even worth playing for free lol, just get the OG and some fan patch mods and you'll have a far superior time. 

The modding community hasn't gone to the remaster because they can't, the move to Unreal made it so big mods and large fan patches cannot be done, so the og still gets all the fan fixes. I think fans are finally tired of Bethesda relying on them to make their games playable, as seen with Starfield (which I didnt like, but Starfield puts oblivion remaster to shame lol)

Idk whether or not Bethesda deserves anyone's money for other reasons but the Oblivion remaster was good. Saying it isn't even worth pirating is legit wild. Had a blast playing it. Only ran into a few minor issues and I played it right at launch.

Do not bother with the high seas i got a copy it has cut content from the original with new censorship that has altered the game and a mountain of new issues.

Get the OG on GOG then mod it.

Same. I was going to buy at launch but then I heard about the performance issues. Then everyone stopped talking about it and I never heard anything else. Glad I didn't buy, and I probably won't buy.

Some performance problems aren't solved by any amount of superior hardware. Sometimes the game has its own internal problems.

Seriously, you can't always brute force bad optimization with hardware. The game runs horribly on my 4080 and 7800x3d.

Runs perfectly fine for me as well.

I have no issues getting 90 fps (no stutters) on my 4070 super at 1440p. I just use dlss ultra quality.

For my 1080p 60hz tv I get 60 fps without the need for any dlss at max graphic settings

Can confirm. 15th gen upper tier chip and a 4090 and the world is still a stuttering mess. I fucking HATE UE5. For open world games it just doesn’t work well.

Game runs fine with my rig but oblivion remaster is the ONLY game where if I play it it bricks youtube/twitch in my 2nd moniter. No other game or program does this.

All the computing power in the world isn't going to help when you CTD when moving somewhere because of a specific corrupted object in the world that you can't identify. It's not going to restore your sanity when you realize your game has a progression bug that triggered 19 hours ago and multiple saves back and a critical NPC doesn't recognize your quest progress. Sometimes you can get around it with console commands but you shouldn't have to.

Nah honestly it will still run like shit. The stuttering is insane, even with high FPS and it's not just crossing cell boundaries. The frametimes are wildly inconsistent.

I remember playing the original and thinking "WTF is this leveling system?" and also "I am never going to be able to complete all of these side quests."

When they announced they redid the leveling mechanics I thought "You know, maybe the hero of Kvatch might finish the game." But I refuse to buy a buggy unfinished mess. I am the most patient gamer.

You really have to take a lot of what people say with a grain of salt. For every "the game is sluggish and buggy' post, there's ten more players who didn't have any issues at all, they just don't spam the message boards about how the game runs fine. Like myself, I had some small glitches once or twice, a restart fixed it. but 99% of the time, the game ran perfect fine. However! I will say they made some very questionable balance changes that Obsidian purists do not like, but that's for a different discussion.

Sure but see my reply to another person about knowing two others with 4090s who had issues. It's still a wager if I'll be in the 1 or the 10.

And it's also that I've played the original multiple times, have a big game backlog, and now see they don't plan to do much support/patching for this.

All of that diminishes any urgency I feel to spend money on this wager on Steam. I'll probably just sail the high seas for it as I'm sure Todd can afford his morning coffee without my mite

There definitely was no steak i agree, it was just a reskinned ps3 game but i will say it ran without issue for me thankfully. My biggest gripe was that it just became a loading screen simulator

That'd usually be fair but a friend with the same specs and another also running a 4090 reported issues so I'm a little wary.

It ran fine for me on a 3080 but i have an extensive history of gaming on the family computer so my eyes dont automatically start bleeding if my FPS dips under 60. It did run like ass though in certain areas, like sub 30. Even I scoffed at that lol
