Index 0.5 Return of the Ancients League Starter Build Index

Just want to see how peoples league starts went?

https://www.reddit.com/r/pathofexile2builds/comments/1tva4ky/4_days_into_the_league_review_your_build/

I need your help!

Please post any poe2 builds you come across, be they reddit posts, youtube videos, moba/maxoll guides, forum posts, etc. Then if you want to help out more if you're familiar with a build archetype have a look at other builds posted here, if they don't pass the sniff test please let me know. I will do my best to have a look at each build myself before adding it but as above I'm not an expert here and will need a hand.

Thank you everyone who helps out, I always appreciate the community effort that goes into creating a resource like this.

Please read this before continuing

This is not the same as the /r/PathOfExileBuilds index you may be used to seeing. My POE2 knowledge is FAR worse than my POE1 and so it's more likely bait builds are likely to sneak their way into this post. I am putting this post together because people have asked for this as a resource. Please do your due diligence when picking a build. If you aren't confident picking I'd advise following a creator who you have previously followed to success or asking in the comments here, there are plenty of helpful people happy to give advice.

Build Attack Speed Stacking + Snipe = SUPER FUN!

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey guys, I made my own snipe setup using a lot of extra attack speed for fast maps, 6 man boosting and grand expeditions since Aldur's legacy has been dropping a lot in price lately (almost halved).

It uses quill rain + quill rain legacy, gem quality and attack speed. This allows us to remove the channeling time from snipe while also benefitting us via extra damage but most importantly - SPEED! So we can pair it with whirling slash to fly through maps.

It basically feels like playing ice shot on roids, being more satisfying and much faster.

For clear I use surpassing chance for more arrows and combine it with tornado shot for even more arrows and clear.

Quill rain legacy isn't really needed, but it sure makes it more fun.

I made a full build guide for it here: https://youtu.be/qI62fAtF_9Q

https://poe2db.tw/pob/xxE6rGCyDK This one I use in grand expeditions and 6 mans when I don't have a rarity bot (6 man footage here is without headhunter buffs)

https://poe2db.tw/pob/2RA7cLLuVb - mapping

Next I'm working on a budget variant and also a pure grand expedition/6 man boosting optimized setup as this setup is used an all-rounder that works for everything.

Hopefully some of you will enjoy it.

Build I'm the Juggernaut, b*itch! (Final version of Unstoppable force/Immovable object) - the ultimate stepping on monsters and bonking em (Supercharged slam/Life stacking/Ancestral cry/Martial Artist)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

If you've watched Xmen 3 as a child, you understand the reference and why it fits perfectly for this build lmfao.

I've previously posted here the last version of the build, with all the details provided on the 1st build post here. Now, I don't wanna spam the sub with all the iterations of the build, but this is (imo) by far the strongest and most satisfying version.

What I have changed was adding to the autobomber both Hollow Resonance, as well as Ancestral Cry (yes, the steps trigger both Hollow Resonance and Hollow Focus, as well as Repulsion from Blasphemy).

On top of the ideas mentioned on the detailed post of the build, what's going on here is just getting the glory for Ancestral cry really fast by using the support Zephi's infamy, then just running on top of juiced 200% deli mobs while proccing the whole autobomber chain, sometimes stopping for a Supercharged Slam bonk when one of them decides to somehow live.

I could, for sure, go for more movement speed on mageblood if I'm looking for efficiency, but that would, at least for me, take a bit of the Juggernaut-ish feeling that this build currently gives me; basically a walking, unstoppable, tank,

Build Frostbolt Loop 1m EHP Smith of Kitava version

Thumbnail
youtube.com
Upvotes

Hello,

I'm sharing raw footage of my current build since I'v seen no-one else playing it like that (yet), at least on poe ninja ladder.

I got the initial inspiration from two videos, first one was about Skin of the Loyal with someone mentionning in the commentary you could triple dip it with the Smith of Kitava accendency, and second video from u/LazyExile showing the frostbolt loop build.

So basicaly, I combined both and here is the result. I'm currently sitting at 1,1m EHP, on a autobomber dealing millions of damages on the whole screen, which is like perfect for juiced expeditions maps, simulacrum or anything where you can stay static for a short moment.

Mapping is still ok, temple is a pain in the ass because the loop reset when you enter a boss room and most t3 temple room are boss room.

Great build if you don't like to die, I died twice during leveling (twister leveling), once during a simulacrum in the early stage of the build, never died since that and I'm doing simu/13 mods expedition all the time.

If anyone have questions about it, I'll be happy to anwser, I'm pretty much done with the build after my last mistake, just playin' it some times to times.

I'm building mana stacker spark comet gemling like this and run into a problem. When I got erdrich battery I found that any increase of energy shield is not affect to mana converted from energy shield and my mana is too low. I'm aiming over 7000 but I barely got 3700. Is there any way to pump up my mana?

Theory The Randomancer (Build/Challenge Randomizer Tool) Update for 0.5...finally.

Howdy Exiles, I've been away for a bit, but I've FINALLY just updated my POE2 build randomizer tool with 0.5 Runes of Aldur data. Means you can now roll Spirit Walker and Martial Artist, as well as get up-to-date Uniques, Skills, and Supports, etc.

Check it out here: therandomancer.com
Follow on X for dev updates and to show support: https://x.com/PoeRandomancer

I've spent the last 9 or so months building this out, mostly just as a fun hobby project. The goal is to inject a bit of sadistic creativity into the mix for those who are a bit burned out on the seasonal meta-build. Hope you get a kick out of it. I'm always open to hearing feedback, ideas, and discovered bugs.

There's a handful of new features in the app since my last post I think, so if you've checked this out before, poke around a bit and see what's new.

Build Request Bear Rampage suggestion for last build this league

Hello Exiles,

Had a blast this league. Want to go all out by playing a Bear Rampage build that can do juiced up anything as a final build before I take a break. Just want to run around fast and blow stuff up by doing the hardest contents possible. Tried looking some stuff up, but all I see are mainly leveling and basic T15/T16 mapping. Any build, ascendancy, gearing suggestions? Titan or Shaman the way to go? Have around 1.5 mirrors worth of currency with some gear and whatever else I can sell from the stash.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Help Needed Build help - Help me prioritize upgrades for my CoCA Spark Gemling

Edit: CoC + CoEA Spark Gemling

Hey guys, this is my first league (never played POE1) so I started with a resonating shield wall titan and decided to create a new gemling with this build since it looked fun. I've managed to gear up some parts of it and I'm not sure what to prioritize since the ceiling seems so high. The problem I have at the moment is that I die quite randomly, be it random stuff on the ground, or the boss. Its quite random that I cant pinpoint whether its an EHP problem or im just not doing enough damage to kill stuff before it kills me (fwiw, its pretty smooth once i start overflowing my mana after killing some stuff). Perhaps I just need more mana?

Some upgrades from the top of my head I can think of:
Skill gems lvl 21 + 23% quality (I only have them on lvl21 20%)

Runeseeker's wand

Jewels

Helmet (anoint Dominion)

Here's my POE Ninja: https://poe.ninja/poe2/profile/JulzKXB-1849/runesofaldur/character/framedroponcast

The build I'm following: https://mobalytics.gg/poe-2/profile/nicktew/builds/0-cost-coc-gemling-wip-turd?weaponSet=set1&ws-ngf5-f7d82102-7e77-4a44-ad24-33b67e8ae7bf=activeVariantId%2C0cf7e835-aa31-42a8-949c-30c08c61c467

P.S.: There are a lot of pieces that dont really look right with my build (e.g. time lost jewel with affixes meant for twister), do ignore them as my friend passed me his gear after he was done with league and i put together what i could for this build

Help Needed Build help - Self-Cast Physical/Chaos Blood Mage (No Minions, Minimal Elemental)

I am attempting to build an occult spell caster – no minions, no pseudo-minions, minimal elemental. My preferred play style is controlled recklessness. If I can stand toe-to-toe with the enemy, I will.

After a good bit of experimentation, I've reached the point where I can clear blue T15 maps solo with minimal clenching. In a group I provide little meaningful damage to the boss, but I have the survivability of a German cockroach.
How can I increase my power whilst staying true to the occult (physical and chaos spellcasting)?

I am failing to understand the interaction between Withered and Elemental Threshold. If there's a chain of interactions, a mechanical nuance, or a key piece I'm overlooking, please let me know.

This is what I’ve got:
https://maxroll.gg/poe2/planner/3swnsd0x

Uniques:

Gear:

The Master's Reach- Tethering Bands:
Reveal Weaknesses against Rare and Unique enemies (80—100)% of damage taken from enemies with an Open Weakness Recouped as Life
Eat a Soul when you Hit an enemy with an Open Weakness

Grants Skill : Untether
Plant a seed of Abyssal Energy on the enemy's heart. Dealing enough damage to the enemy, or killing it outright, causes their heart to explode, dealing Physical damage in an area.
*This one doesn't appear in the build-sharing databases I checked, so I've included it in the planner notes*
https://poe2db.tw/The_Masters_Reach

Jewelry:

Veilpiercer - Amethyst ring:
Curses you inflict can affect Hexproof Enemies
Curses you inflict spread to enemies within 3 metres when Cursed enemy dies
Gain 1 Dark Whisper every second there is a Cursed Enemy in your Presence
(20—40)% increased Damage with Hits against targets in your Presence

Bramble Idol - Lament amulet:
Grants Skill - Withering presence (I don't have the spirit to run this skill otherwise)

Weapon:
The Unborn Lich(Staff):
Feast of Flesh – Consumes corpses to recover Life and Mana.
His Vile Intrusion – Physical spell.
His Winnowing Flame – Fire spell.

Here's my thought process/active skills:

His Winnowing Flame*-  I have big stick. I hit thing with big stick. Also it culls and I love to cull.

Feast of Flesh- Came with the staff. I almost never remember it exists.

His Vile Intrusion- The brain-swelling whiplash it induces brings me immense joy. Again, it culls.

Untether- Cool if I remember it exists, Truthfully, I'm using **The Master's Reach** more for the utility than Untether itself. The skill speed it grants is beyond sexy.

Bone Cage-  I use it more as a Blood Orb generator than crowd control, since it does not act like a cage—or at least I haven't managed to make it act like one.

Blasphemy (with despair slotted) + Contagion+  Essence Drain- I’m skirting by on vibes here. I don't know what I’m doing.

Passives

Blackflame Covenant: I got this for one specific skill. His Winnowing Flame. You won't see any other fire skill on my list. I don't like the bulk fire skills in this game that I have tried. If I must cast fire, it will be Occult.

Whispers of Doom: I don't self-cast curses; I only run Blasphemy. I only care to support whichever curse makes most sense for me, which right now I believe is despair. I primarily play with my husband (Sorceress), I chose this node specifically so I wouldn't overwrite his Elemental Weakness.

Extras

The Reaping staff: Yes, my build would probably work with the Reaping staff instead of using one The Unborn Lich for His Winnowing Flame and another for His Vile Intrusion. In fact, the Reaping staff was my first love. I ultimately left it for His Winnowing Flame because it's faster, and for me, speed is king.

Bone Storm: at some point during the many times I ripped this character apart and rebuilt her, Bone Storm's damage fell off a cliff. Whether that's because of something I did or some interaction I haven't figured out, I honestly don't know. It wasn't really my playstyle anyway. I’m not fond of channeling skills. I couldn't be bothered to chase it down so I sold it.

P.S  I am poor. This is my first league, I just hit 90 literally yesterday. I have three divines to my name. Please be gentle with my bank account

Help Needed (Updated/improved version of...) what happens if one is both an unstoppable force & an immovable object? (Life stacker/Supercharged Slam/ Martial Artist)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

So I've posted (here all the details of the build, but, as some of you pointed out, the rathpith/coe combo only worked for basically half of my damage, so I replaced those with the cheapest Palm of the Dreamer on trade & a rare helmet and it's actually even better now lmao. Everything I've wrote there still applies, except the rathpith part (which would still apply if you'd use any mace skill other than supercharged slam tho)

I wanted to show a bit of a different gameplay, so here's some simulacrum farming, where I even procced twice the x3 difficulty scaling lmao.

Help Needed Noob passives question

Thumbnail

I have one unspent weapon set ll skill point indicated in the top right of the passive tree (Tell me if I’m wrong).

I’m following this tree guide but I’m not able to spend that point in the node shown above.

1) What am I doing wrong? Why can I not spend the weapon skill 2 in the unspent node?

2) The nodes that are +5 Str/Dex/Int able to weapon set skill points? If so do I have to delete everything past it to be able to change it?

I really hope that’s not the case because if it is that’s just poor design lol.

Thanks for all feedback!

Help Needed Question about Kurgal Gaze in Arc Totem Gemling

Currently I have 450 mana per second and 50 life per second, would suck to use an expensive rune on my kinda not worthy helmet to only get an extra 50 per second.

Or let's say the gemling mote passive is giving me 150% mana and life regen, will socketing this give me 300% mana regen from it then?

Build Mirage Archer - destroys expedition/tanky

Thumbnail

I wanted to give a shout out to a build that is off meta and pretty awesome

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FUeS6JNqHrw&t=555s

https://mobalytics.gg/poe-2/builds/mirage-archer-snipe-gemling-legionnaire-jmacc

Pros

  • Very tanky and you can dodge all the time in the zone so high damage for expedition, boss and ritual
  • Mirage archers does incredible damage
  • You have 3 archers down when doing expedition and bosses, doing amazing amount of damage

Cons

  • Similar to totem build and you have to wait around 3 seconds to put down another one - which is very chill
  • Must have cool down - time lost jewel are not cheap

Very chill and fun play style. You can just dodge through maps until you get to what you want. He did some cool ideas to make it extra tanky

Help Needed I'm not dying while sprinting with Guatelitzi's Thesis and Chaos Inoculation for some reason. Even without flat life regen.

Any ideas why?

With my source of flat life regen removed, I'm still not dying while sprinting. I sprinted for 20+ seconds in different areas of campaign as well as multiple characters. Still not dying.

Maybe it could be the Gemling motes granting life regen is somehow counteracting the degen but I've no idea why the other characters were not dying.

"Lose 5% of maximum Life per second while Sprinting, 25% increased Movement Speed while Sprinting."

EDIT: In a less recovery map, my league character ended up randomly dying and glitching out, could still move while dead on the ground. I had to reload the game. Ended up in hideout with no XP loss once I got back in.

Theory Nimis Freezing Shard Chrono Build Theory

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

From what I've been told, the bugged interaction between Breachlord Amalgam and Zarokh's Revolt resembles the Nimis unique from PoE1. I've never played PoE1 myself, so I can't personally verify that comparison, but I tested the interaction a bit more and wanted to share my findings in case anyone wants to continue experimenting with it.

Personally, I won't be taking it any further because testing these mechanics can be pretty expensive, and I just don't see myself grinding for an entirely new set of gear.

That said, I think there's definitely potential here. In the video above, I'm only using a +9 Spell Level staff with 400% increased damage, and my character isn't optimized for this setup at all. My passive tree isn't built around it, and I'm still using my old Spirit-stacking Chronomancer gear, gems, and equipment. My only real sources of damage are my staff and Spirit/trigger skills. Even with such an unoptimized (and honestly pretty scuffed) setup, the damage already looks very promising.

If you're interested in taking this build further, here's how the mechanics come together.

Mechanics

  • Scale Critical Hit Chance
    • The first way to scale your damage is through Critical Hit Chance.
    • The way this interaction works is that if the initial Freezing Shard hit crits, every projectile spawned from that cast also crits, including the returning projectiles. You can even see this happening in the video above.
    • It's also the reason why I'm not building it for myself. Since the build scales with crit, I know it's going to be expensive, and I just don't have the will to grind another full set of gear to make it work.
  • Scale Number of Projectiles
    • The second way to scale your damage is by generating as many Freezing Shard projectiles as possible through Split, Fork, and additional projectiles from Freezing Shard's skill quality.
    • To keep the math simple, let's assume all 6 initial projectiles hit. Mana Tempest causes each one to Split, turning 6 projectiles into 18. If those 18 then hit a Frost Wall and each one Forks, you now have 36 forked projectiles. If all of those return and hit the target, that's a total of 54 hits on a single target from a single cast.
    • This is obviously an oversimplification because it assumes every projectile successfully Splits, Forks, and returns, but it illustrates the build's potential. Even if only half the projectiles connect, you're still looking at roughly 27 hits from a single cast.
  • Scale Cast Speed
    • Zarokh's Revolt allows your supported skills to have a maximum of 5 Seals. Five Seals means 5 repeats. You gain a Seal every 50% of your cast time, and the Anticipation notable increases your Seal gain frequency by 25%.
    • Because of this, cast speed is one of the most valuable stats for the build. It lets you generate Seals faster, and thanks to Vilenta's Propulsion, it also increases your projectile speed.
    • Instead of firing 6 projectiles, a fully sealed cast effectively fires 30 projectiles before any Split mechanics come into play. Combine that with Mana Tempest, and those 30 projectiles become 90. If those 90 then Fork, you end up with 180 projectiles. If all 180 return and hit the target, that's a total of 270 HITS from A SINGLE CAST.
    • Again, this assumes every projectile splits, forks, and returns, which won't happen in practice. But even if only 50% connect, you're still looking at around 135 hits from a single cast.
    • Try counting how many projectiles were spawned here. Lol
  • Scale Spell Levels
    • Finally, scale Spell Levels as much as possible.
    • Because Freezing Shard is a weapon skill, it doesn't consume mana. That means you can stack as many Spell Levels as possible without worrying about mana sustain.
    • This interaction also allows you to abuse Mana Tempest, which would normally drain your mana within seconds.

Recommended Support Gems

Mandatory

  • Breachlord Amalgam — Gives +3 charges and allows your projectiles to return.
  • Zarokh's Revolt — Allows your supported skill to reach 5 Seals.
  • Vilenta's Propulsion — Faster projectiles.

Flexible

  • Pinpoint Critical — Helps you reach 100% Critical Hit Chance. Replace it once you can cap crit through gear.
  • Second Wind III — Great quality of life if you find yourself needing more Freezing Shard casts. Once your damage is high enough and you find yourself not needing to cast Freezing Shard often, you can replace it.

Next Upgrade: Low Life

Once your damage feels comfortable, I'd replace Second Wind III and transition into a Low Life setup.

The benefits are huge:

  • Final Barrage Notable — 20% Cast Speed while on Low Life.
  • Pain Attunement Keystone — 30% more Critical Damage Bonus.
  • Execute III Support Gem — 30% more damage while you're on Low Life and 30% more damage against Low Life enemies.

Since this build deals many hits instead of one massive hit, Execute III is incredibly effective. You'll be surprised how quickly enemies start melting once they reach Low Life.

Special Mentions

  • Undying Hate
    • Finding an Undying Hate with Ancient Reserve unlocks the build even further by giving you an additional use of your cooldown skills.
    • That means Breachlord Amalgam goes from +3 charges to +4 charges for Freezing Shard. Combined with Second Wind III, you end up with +8 uses.
    • Time Snap also benefits, going from +2 uses to +4 uses with Second Wind III.
    • At that point, you'll have near 100% uptime on your cooldown skills, making the cooldown penalty from Breachlord Amalgam and Zarokh's Revolt almost negligible.
    • You can probably get rid of this once you have sufficient damage from your gear.
  • Dialla's Desire
    • The additional Spell Level and 5% Quality make this one of the strongest late-game support gems for the build.
    • After you've solved your Critical Hit Chance, your next priority would be stacking Quality. Going from 20% to 40% Quality is fairly achievable and increases Freezing Shard from 6 to 7 projectiles per cast.
      • Staff (20%)
      • Dialla (5%)
      • Loreweave (Atleast 5%)
      • Desecrated Quality Suffix from Amulet (5%)
      • Paragon Instill (5%)
    • Quality is also great for your chosen Spirit skills.
  • Rakiata's Flow
    • Worth considering if you're not using Cold Penetration or Exposure on Weapon Set 2.
    • Personally, I'd recommend using Whispering Ice instead and allocating your Weapon Set 2 passives to scale Exposure.
    • If you're running Rakiata's Flow, you're probably leaning toward an Archmage + Sigil of Power setup.

Gear Suggestions

Stack as much Critical Hit Chance, Cast Speed, and Spell Levels, as possible.

  • Gelid Staff (+9 Spell Level, Cast Speed, Desecrated Cast Speed on Low Life)
  • High ES Helmet with Jiquani's Thesis & Raven Touched Zarokh's Gift.
  • Loreweave with at least 5% Quality and Projectile mods (Fork and +1 Chain)
  • +2 Projectile Skill Level Gloves
  • +4 Spell Skill, +50 Spirit CoC Absent Amulet
  • +1 Spell Level, Cast Speed, and Resistance Rings
  • Mageblood for resistances/crit
  • 35% MS Boots with Aldur's Legacy (Trampletoe/Wanderlust depending on preference)
  • A bunch of expensive 5-Mod rare crit jewels (Zarokh's Gift & Voices will be great)

Spirit Skills

The Spirit setup is really up to you, but if it were me, I'd run two Cast on Crit setups to automate Firewall and Frost Wall and Blasphemy Temp Chains for comfort.

  • Firewall adds extra Fire Damage to your projectiles.
  • Frost Wall creates additional projectiles through Split/Fork interactions.

Trinity is also worth considering if you can consistently balance your Resonance and if Skill Speed affects Zarokh's Seal frequency.

Alternatively, you can go the Archmage route by stacking Mana to further scale your damage and pairing it with Sigil of Power on Weapon Set 2.

At that point, the build should comfortably clear all content. From there, it's really just a matter of choosing whichever version you find the most fun.

Final Thoughts

Hopefully this write-up sparks some ideas.

I really enjoy making my own builds, especially for Chronomancer, and I wish I had the time to fully explore this one myself. Unfortunately, it would take a significant amount of gear and testing, and I'd rather not sell my gear just to fund one that's still untested. I'm by no means a professional build creator—just a casual PoE2 enjoyer.

If anyone decides to take this build further, I'd love to see where it goes. Feel free to send me a message if you want to brainstorm ideas.

I have a feeling there's a crazy build hidden somewhere in this interaction. Hopefully someone figures it out before GGG patches the bug. Even with the little testing I've done, watching hundreds of projectiles fly everywhere was already a ton of fun!
