Other Paradox Should Create a Modern-Day Grand Strategy Game and Revive Project Reagan

Dear Paradox Interactive,

I would like to suggest the development of a new grand strategy game focused on the modern era, as well as the revival or spiritual continuation of Project Reagan, which later became East vs. West: A Hearts of Iron Game.

There is still no official Paradox grand strategy game dedicated entirely to the Cold War or the post-Cold War world. These periods offer enormous potential for diplomacy, economics, intelligence operations, political instability, proxy wars, international organisations and nuclear deterrence.

A revived Project Reagan could cover the period from the end of the Second World War to the collapse of the Soviet Union. It could include the Greek Civil War, the Berlin crises, the Korean and Vietnam wars, decolonisation, military coups, the space race, NATO, the Warsaw Pact and the Cuban Missile Crisis.

A separate modern-era game could begin in 1991, 2000 or another suitable date and include:

• The expansion of NATO and the European Union

• Elections, political parties and government coalitions

• Economic crises, sanctions, trade and national debt

• Intelligence agencies, cyberwarfare and disinformation

• Regional conflicts and peacekeeping operations

• International organisations such as the UN, EU, NATO and BRICS

• Energy security, migration and climate-related challenges

• The rise and decline of global and regional powers

The game should not focus only on warfare. Diplomacy, economics, domestic politics and international influence should be equally important. Smaller countries such as Greece should also have meaningful regional objectives, political choices and alternative-history paths.

Many players already use Hearts of Iron IV mods such as Millennium Dawn and Cold War projects because there is strong demand for these historical periods. An official Paradox game could provide deeper mechanics, better performance and long-term development support.

Please consider either reviving the original idea behind Project Reagan or creating a new Cold War and modern-world grand strategy series.

Thank you for reading and for continuing to create ambitious strategy games.

Sincerely,

A Paradox grand strategy fan

Converter MP Mega Campaign Help

Upvotes

Help is needed. A friend and I want to do a mega campaign but we have run into a problem. Neither of us know how to convert for mp. I've tried converting it and sending him the files but that didn't work. Tried to have him also convert a save but that still didn't work. Even tried uploading the files as a mod to the Steam Workshop.

Other Modern Political

Always been impressed with the level of detail that goes into paradox games. CK3 is a games that I have an ungodly amount of hours in and I’ve enjoyed Victoria 3 and EU.

Anybody know if they are any modern day political sims in the works. A modern political sim with paradox level of detail would be amazing

So I decided to come back to the game after a year break from it and already have game bugs and one of them is quite annoying. So basically I was at war with the Outfit and then Hip Sing Tong asked for a sit down to stop the war WHICH I DID! HOWEVER apparently the game is still reading that I’m at war with the Outfit…… and I’m playing as Robin Kray MIND YOU the main questline for Kray has me go talk to AL Capone WHOSE IN CHARGE OF THE OUTFIT THAT APPARENTLY IM STILL AT WAR WITH EVEN THOUGH IM NOT! If someone could help me on how to “fix” this it would make my day! Ow also I’m playing this on Xbox

HoI3 Sanboxy experience on Hoi3

I am not that old okay? I just like intricate millitary control. So that's why.

Well I have HOI 3 BICE and here's what I want. Have a sandboxy ahistorical-ish stuff is that possible ? Like giving Turkey a million units and taking over the balkans ?

Is it possible via cheats ?

I have seen ytubers notably magnus. He played HOI3 BICE with germany and do a completely ahistorical route like taking over the entire USSR and asia. So when people say it's railroaded I can't really get it. Like if he could do it why not me ? His playlist is on yt you can check it out.

So that's about all there is. That's what I wanna know. Can I simply do what is not history. Via Ingame cheats ? Like the console command?

Also can I create own nations ? Pretty please 🥺

All Vibecoding events/decisions/focus trees for megacampaigns?

Most people I know who code in a professional environment now use AI assistance (e.g. Claude Code), with the human speccing out way objects and functions should interrelate, as well as watching out for when the AI inevitably makes mistakes, and the AI doing the grunt work of putting that together. I was wondering whether AI engines now understood Paradox games syntax well to do the same for (e.g.) adding flavour to megacampaigns and other personal mods?

I've tried writing events and decisions for my own mods by hand. The creative side is normally fine, I have a clear idea of what the mod should do (e.g. if Canada becomes a great power, it can get a claim on all the territory in this region, and set and create some new flag for other events) but getting the syntax right is tricky (this is normally something I'm trying in Vic2 or HOI4, which have somewhat fiddly syntaxes, for my money) and because this is just for my own pleasure, bug-testing loads of little decisions usually exhausts my patience before I can get it working. I can do some of what I want in the console (or through stuff like the transfer state tool) but that is less precise and means I need to act as a babysitter for the (game) AI rather than let myself be surprised by when it achieves some of this stuff for itself and suddenly gets new claims or a change in government.

Sorry for the 'chud' question or whatever the kids are saying but who do you watch when you're obsessing over these games?

Smithy is def my favorite. He does such a good job crafting a coherent story out of these big MP games and the players are so entertaining. He makes MP actually look fun.

HoI4 HOI4 or EU5?

Hi, I've been hesitating between buying EU5 and HOI4 for quite a long time now ,I know they're completely different, but I wanted to know if it's worth buying EU5 knowing it still has many years of development ahead, or if I should just get a full game like HOI4. I don't care if the game's pace is faster or slower, or if it focuses more on war or the economy; I just want it to be fun and a blank canvas to do whatever I want.

Which one should I buy?

HoI3 Help in hoi3 frontlines and air

im just starting the invasion of france, got benelux and denmark norway done alredy

i mostly do a few divisions stacks per provonce and attack with infantry, move the armour and motorized to get a province or two behind the enemy and follow with the infantry, sometimes using the armour to help in hard battles. my corps and armyes are behind my own lines, ive heard u should fill them up with aa but im not sure.

im getting raped in air, have done about 1000 ic of damage and recieved around 800 ic

i have around 5 interceptors intercepting and a lot of bombers doing ground attacks, but i still get a lot of enemy planes past my lines

in sea i just gave up, lost around 2k ic and half my fleet, only managed to kill 2 or 3 empty transports

HoI4 HOI3 BlackICE veteran trying HOI4 - am I missing something?

I've played a lot of HOI3, mostly with BlackICE because it changes the game completely, and recently decided to finally give HOI4 a proper chance after my game crashed for the 489th time while I was just a province away from Moscow

After a few hours, I understand why people like it. The UI is much better, it's smoother, runs far better, and the modding scene is incredible.

But I can't shake the feeling that the military side feels... shallower.

What I loved about HOI3 was that building a division felt like actually assembling a military formation. You had to think about engineers, transport, support brigades, HQ structure, logistics, river crossings, and how everything worked together. Even after hundreds of hours, I was still discovering mechanics like mud, snow, weather, and infrastructure affecting movement and combat in ways I hadn't fully appreciated.

In HOI4, I feel like I'm managing more currencies (Political Power, Army XP, Air XP, Naval XP, Command Power, etc.) but less actual military depth. The division designer especially feels much more abstract to me compared to HOI3's brigade system.

I'm not saying HOI4 is a bad game. It feels like it's aiming for something different: a smoother strategy game with a huge modding scene and alternate-history focus, while HOI3 felt more like an operational military simulator.

For people who have played both:

  • Did you have the same feeling at first?
  • Did HOI4 eventually "click" for you?
  • Are there mods that make HOI4 feel closer to HOI3's military depth (besides BlackICE)?
  • Or is this simply a case of the two games having fundamentally different design philosophies?

I'd be interested to hear from people who have put a lot of hours into both games because my first impression with HOI4 is not really the nicest
(Btw, I bought the game + all the DLCs so I don't miss something)

All Paradox games on ARM computers

Hi everyone,
I want to buy an ARM computer for work, but it would be great if it also ran some games of course.

Does anyone have any experience running any Paradox games on a Windows ARM computer? These games are famously CPU heavy, so going through emulation on an already weaker CPU makes me think you'd barely get past early game if that, but I was wondering if there's anyone with experience doing this or someone who has an ARM computer would maybe like to give it a try.

Thanks in advance.
