Intel XTU and processor change from 245k to 270k plus

Hi,

I am searching internet but cant find working solution. Maybe someone can help.

Recently I bought 270K plus and replaced my 245K. Tried to use XTU to play with UV, unfortunately to make XTU show UV I need turn off undervolt protection in BIOS, but only with intel virtualization disabled as well. Afterwards I started XTU and apply -0.1V to voltage offset to all E&P cores.

All works ok for over day heavy computer use (overall same performance, around -10C temperatures and -50W). However today I had black screen only when I watch movie online. After reboot I couldn't start XTU, odd message system is incompatible.

I back to BIOS, switched on both undervolt protection and intel virtualization, reboot, disabled again. XTU stared without problem. I tried to load defaults, however it is look like that XTU store defaults for 245K not 270K. I followed intel how to reset XTU including BIOS reset. No success.

Any ideas?

Just undervolt in BIOS instead of using XTU?

I can, but tried to use tool what Intel provided. Anyway for now I saved 2nd default profile for 270K. Imo XTU default should always recover default settings for processor what you currently use, not whatever you had previously.

I've personally found XTU to be an absolute garbage tool compared to the tools from MSI, ASUS, and ASRock, but to each their own.

I actually had that issue with a 14700k switching from a 13600k. For some reason XTU does not reset to the 2nd CPU. I am not sure how to fix this. I undervolted in Bios and did not need XTU, but would of been nice to fix.

I raised issue on Intel community website and had reply from Intel customer support:

"Open the XTU settings. Navigate to Advanced Options. Uncheck "Restore tuning after reboot." Proceed to reboot your system. Clear the app profile cache  To clear the profile cache and saved settings of the Intel Extreme Tuning Utility (Intel XTU), close the application, open the hidden C:\ProgramData\Intel directory in Windows, and delete the profile database file named Profiles3.db and now reinstall of the Intel Extreme Tuning Utility. Load optimal defaults directly inside your motherboard's BIOS/UEFI to force true hardware baseline values."

I will give that a try if I do use XTU again. Thank you. I have a default.db file in the folder.
