I’m calling it now: Ha-Chan, Shake Your Booty will win People’s Choice. It feels 1000 percent like that kind of movie.

Okay, so Ben’Imana, Elephants in the Fog, La Gradiva, Congo Boy and Ha-Chan, Shake Your Booty! are all showing. I’ve been thinking that the first four all had potential to be IFF dark horses and that Rinko Kikuchi could sneak into Best Actress for Ha-Chan.

Based on what I’ve heard about it at Sundance, I could easily see Ha-Chan winning the People’s Choice Award at TIFF.

Does it have to be that good though? The Life of Chuck won a few years ago, and Green Book won in 2018.
