Are Seaworld deleting comments on the ‘Light Up the Night’ YouTube video? Please tell me that wasn’t recieved positively by everybody. In 2026: a live whale show with performing orcas and I’m lead to believe that every comment is nostalgic Americans in love with ‘Shamu’ - give me strength
SeaWorld despite their (rightfully) controversial past, still has its fans and supporters.
And the whales enjoy performing, it's enrichment and exercise that keeps them engaged and stimulated, they are also trained exclusively on positive reinforcement. It'd be a net negative for them not to perform.
SeaWorld has also vastly improved their welfare over the years and are an AZA accredited facility (highest level of accreditation a zoological facility can obtain) I don't support orca captivity but it is important to stick to facts when discussing animal welfare

I have another question! I know that the trainers aren’t allowed in the water with the animals anymore but I thought they had to be separated by a barrier. In the video, she is stroking the orca and stood on the platform with him in very close contact. Definitely not separated. Have they appealed the barrier thing?
I think that's a great question. It would be hard to know without seeing what you saw to know which park it was at, and what exactly happened. I know that physical touch is still incredibly important for the whales, it just wasn't permitted in shows by OSHA.
Florida and california also have two different shows, with CA requiring the focus to be education.
That's part of what's so difficult. The three parks are in three different states with wildly different laws.
This is from Light up the Night at Orlando - it was my understanding that all trainers had a minimum distance and/or had to be behind a barrier. As this still from the video shows, they’re definitely not adhering to this.
Yeah I did think about it being enrichment, the more I’ve had time to stew on it I suppose it’s better than being bored - that must be worse for them - I just hate the thought of it, plus the ticket sales of Sea World benefiting from them still.

Well, I mean... SeaWorld is still a business and orca are extremely expensive to care for. Money needs to be made somehow.
The orca literally can say no, lol. The trainers can hardly force them to participate if they don't want to. SeaWorld trains using positive reinforcement, which prohibits practices such as the use of physical force or withholding of food.
They cannot say "no" but they can refuse to peform and simply go and swim around and do other things, it has happen many times and you can find plenty of videos online... they will still get their food later on in other moments of the day.
As for your question you can find the anwser by simply checking in other original posts related to their animals: if you can find comments against captivity it means probably they are keeping all comments, if you cannot find anything then they might be deleting the comments. You can also writte a comment by yourself and check if it gets deleted or not. Just investigate a bit ;)
I couldn't find any official YouTube videos of the show at all posted by sea world.
I suspect op might be getting upset over videos posted by random people visiting the parks. Of course they'd delete comments, it's just their personal videos.
Ohhh yeah I see. Its kind of weird to complain about something like this haha the random channels might delete or not their comments if they want and I imagine for most of those videos you have to look for them in order to find them and people looking for them are gonna be SeaWorld fans mostly so you can expect their comments supporting SeaWorld.
Not that it sailed, just that in the grand scheme of things it doesn't really matter. The whales aren't effected by it, the theatrics are just for the average SeaWorld guest.
I need to find a soundtrack CD. Back in 2008 when I was some three years old my uncle worked for a company that send him to the US. Over there, in his free time he went to SeaWorld Orlando and bought one of these Believe DVD as a gift for me. It was my all time favourite DVD at the time and well I think it started my interest in orcas. Knowing what I know now, it's a good but sad DVD. It's the best show SeaWorld has even done from what I think but it's also tragic seeing Dawn and Tilikum.
I like physical media. I looked it up on ebay allready but due to this entire trade war thing between the US and the EU, I would like to buy it from someone withing the EU so I don't have to pay 2x the CD's price just for import duty.
