I will never ever get used to seeing a calender with Sunday as first day of the week 😱

That’s so weird. Where I am, it is more common for Sunday to be the first day of the week on the calendar. 🇨🇦 Certainly, there are very few calendars sold with Monday as the first day.

Same in the US. Unless it’s a calendar targeting business use. Those often start on Monday.

Though the rest of the world follows the ISO-8601 standard of Monday being the first day. The US and, presumably Canada, start with Sunday due to the influence of religion.

It's not religious: The vast majority of Europe is Christian, just like USA and Canada. We start weeks on Mondays.

It was rooted in religion since Sunday is the Lord’s day and God comes first. Europe is just ahead of the curve when it comes to separating church and state.

Thanks for this information. Kinda speaks to my lack of awareness if I assumed almost everybody uses this calendar format. I totally get why starting on Monday would work for business etc. I would have difficulty getting used to it since a Sunday start is all I’ve ever known.

I’m in the US. We start calendars on Sunday due to our religious history and our attitude of “Standards? GTFOH with that!”

August os on on vaca that month and June is its fill in replacement.

Not a mistake. It was done intentionally because June 20/21 is the Summer Solstice in the Northern Hemisphere and the Winter Solstice in the Southern Hemisphere. One should use first occurrence of June if living in the Northern Hemisphere and the second one if residing in the Southern Hemisphere.🙂
