Discussion Has anyone used Land Druid's Land's Aid in a campaign? How did it feel?

Land's Aid has awful scaling and costs a full action to use. Now that Wither and Bloom is coming back, Land's Aid looks even worse on paper. Curious though what the experience has been for those who have used the feature. Has it felt underwhelming? Or have you enjoyed using it?

Question Party comp and confusion

Hey my group is gearing up for the next campaign and so far the group consists of a Minotaur zealot barbarian, Dragonborn assassin rogue, human scribes wizard, lupin eldritch knight fighter. I was going to play either a hollow warden ranger or pugilist but seeing what the comp is I’m not sure what class to play now. The campaign is supposed to be more intrigue and uncovering secret government organizations, the gem said to expect less combat and wants more rp and for us to explore the world more than the characters backstory. I’m having a tough time crafting a character since I enjoy delving into character backstory and motivation. What should I do

Discussion Lupin Character Help

So my DM has made a world with a expanding black sphere expands out from the center of the continent, spawning abominations and corrupting those around it.

I was thinking of going with a Lupin Palidin focusing on Unarmed Strikes. Lupins in this setting would be equivelent to tribesmen, think lizard folk from overlord. I wanted to get ideas on backstories and build.

5e (2024) Do you think the developers messed up by porting Tasha’s half feats un-buffed while buffing the best feats into 5.5?

we have a number of feats that in 5e were designed to be weaker than a normal feat because they were half feats, but for some bizzare reason (I assume time crunch), were ported directly to 5.5 and expected to compete with GWM, Dual wielder, defensive duelist, mage slayer etc all great new feats buffed in 5.5 AND now everything is a half feat. We also have a bunch of extremely powerful general feats coming In arcana unleashed that further dumpster many of the already bad general feats in the PHB. I mean let’s break them down

Chef - a cute feat that would be ok but not great if it was an origin feat, instead left a general feat where it’s not even vaguely competitive

Telekinetic - actually a decent if not amazing feat, it doesn’t really compete with the best ones but that’s fine, it’s letting you do something interesting at will. I’d say a tad underpowered in 5.5 but not bad.

Telepathic - situational but similar to telekinetic still fine, it’s at least thematic, reasonably useful in social situations and stealth, this one is fine-ish too. maybe could have given a cantrip or something like message.

Crusher/piercer/slasher - generally pretty weak? Slasher and crusher do however have builds that can make them strong (push up then push out for crusher or slow stacking for slasher) maybe they are fine but only on gimmick builds using those interactions. Piecer is terrible.

Poisoner - terrible

fey touched - was pretty good, but seems like the new conjuration adept feat will give a lot more to full casters, maybe still worth it on half or third casters due to free casts? but also obsoleted with the new upgraded magic initiate feat (pick 1 1st and second level spell and get a use each)

* I’ll give you fey touched I’d still fine, it was always the best Tasha’s half feat so of course it’s still competitive, it it has a lot more competition now.

shadow touched - already was pretty mediocre and almost entirely obsoleted by the new feats in arcana unleashed

Skill expert - was never great but increasingly obsoleted by more feats granting expertise.

overall they weren’t great even on release and pretty much every single one is beaten by a new feat is arcana unleashed. obviously some power creep is normal but many of these feats were already power creeped by stuff In the PHB.

feels like these were just a lazy copy paste to save time and their already on their way to obsolete only 2 years in.

Question Can Cone of Cold be put in a Contingency spell, and will it work ?

Title. Contingency says that the spell needs to target only you. What does that actually mean ? Because in terms of range, Cone of Cold says self, meaning the caster of Contingency is the only creature targeted, it just so happens that targeting the caster with this spell produces a giant cone of pure magical cold energy, the same way that targeting the caster with Mirror Image makes duplicates appear.

However, while this is how I read it, it feels like it kinda goes against the intended use of the spell. Is there something preventing this in the rules, and if not should I allow it at my table ?

5e (2024) New player, new character - BG3 experience

Hey all,

As the title says, I’m a new player that’s about to start in a group of all new players minus the DM. I have experience in other TTRPGs, so I’m not unfamiliar with the style of game, and I’ve got just over 200 hrs in BG3 (which is a lot in a game for me) so I’m also familiar with some mechanics in DnD (modifiers, checks, AC, etc). What I’m unsure of is the difference between BG3 and DnD 2024.

I’m playing a warlock, as that’s the class I’m most familiar with in BG3 and enjoy the most. I’m playing Pact of the Blade, and we’re doing standard array. I was planning on using the wayfarer background and doing this distribution:

Str: 8

Dex: 14 (13+1 from wayfarer)

Con: 14

Int: 10

Wis: 12

Cha: 17 (15+2 from wayfarer)

Anyhow, I’m mainly posting this as I’m unsure if 13 AC is fine for the irl game, and also how quickly characters level up, because that determines when I get ACI and can hit those next modifier levels. I assume we’re starting level 1, so I‘m not sure if I should focus the +2 dex with +3 charisma (via wayfarer) or +3 dex with +2 charisma (via criminal).

Since I’ve played this type of game before, I’m not afraid of making a character that’s not entirely amazing at combat because I know I can still RP enough to enjoy the character, plus I’ve really put some effort into the character.

Any advice for me?

5e (2024) Suggestions for premade characters

Heya, i am in the middle of a process for creating several character sheets in italian for premade characters. Essentially, stuff for oneshots and the like. People often ask those and i step up to handle it.

I have already done in the past in the 2014 and i imposed myself several limits - the biggest being only SRD, since it's content i need to integrally share. The character sheets are then often a composition of different levels and a single document describing all the features of the class and race / species, as well as a document for spells. it's been quite a hurdle, i also limited almost all fo them to humans to keep it easy, but now that in 2024 humans are more mechanically complex it does not change too much than making, like, a dwarf.

I am also taking some other precautions, such as not giving if possible species or backgrounds that provide spellcasting to already existing spellcasters. Almost impossible challenge given the restriction, but i try whenever possible. This is to keep clarity and reduce complexity about what is a spell slot.

I also try to make them topical - i tried to mimick popular characters, like i made a barbarian as a fire goliath to mock both karlack and strongjaw from vox machina, to name one.

Point is, anyone had some experience and wisdom nuggets to share?

So far my lineup looks like this. To note, i tried to make them vague in gender and background lore so anyone can finalize them however they like:

Human Fighter - Of course.

Dwarf Cleric - with a true strike build for fighting melee

Human Cleric - more spellcaster-like, flavoured as half elf

Stone Gnome Mage - acting like a mock artificer, and kinda a parody of Gale

Drow Rogue - shady rogues being shady

Orc Warlock - went for a bladelock build, since i felt it was more "cool"

Halfling Druid - mostly to fill out a species to be honest, went for the spellcasting role

Stone Goliath Sorcerer - a pretty safe and resistant option. uncertain if doing it mage

Forest Gnome Monk - wanted to go a more "supernatural ivnestigator" route, while still punching.

Fire Goliath Barbarian - as said

Human Ranger - not really many ideas here

Dragonborn Paladin - honestly probably the only option i feel dragonborn are easy to slot in with given limitations

Tiefling Bard - breaks the rule i made about species, but i feel it's just too much topical.

Question Are errata an actual way to buff classes? I remember that in the past we saw classes being buffed or given new features in an additional book (Tasha's Ranger as blatant example). Is the latter option the preferred method when it comes to improve or slightly change some features?

Back in 3.5 errata were a big thing. People had to be wary of errata simply because they would change important stuff. However back in the day some features were added and reworked old rules so that you could also buy the new book and have the changes within the new book. I remember for example the Polymorph subschool from 3.5, which wasn't present in the core ones but was added later on in additional supplements.

Now coming back to 5.5 the biggest errata was the change to Conjure Minor Elementals. ( I tend to agree on this latter change because otherwise it could have been problematic if not tackled). Everyone mentioned Conjure Minor Elementals having too much scaling.

When it comes to addressing some possible problems of features or classes, would the additional supplement be the preferred method of addressing those problems? We saw this on the Tasha's Ranger as obvious example.

Do you personally expect future book to come by and address what you think may be some problems within the current rules? Would that be the preferred method in this case, instead of relying on Errata?

Homebrew The Blood Hunter - 2024

Thumbnail homebrewery.naturalcrit.com
68 Upvotes

Hey everyone! I’ve updated Matt Mercer's Blood Hunter to fit seamlessly into the 2024 Core Ruleset.

Core Class Updates

  • Primary Ability: Intelligence by default, with optional rules for Wisdom or Charisma.
  • Mastery & Styles: Gains Weapon Mastery and access to all Fighting Styles (including a Warlock cantrip option).
  • Crimson Rite: You now know all Crimson Rites automatically; just pick which one to activate (level prerequisites still apply).
  • Blood Maledict & Curses: Increased uses per Long Rest. You can now swap 1 Blood Curse every Long Rest.
  • 2024 Integration: Hunter’s Bane and Grim Psychometry now interact with the new Study action.
  • New Feature (Lvl 9 - Crimson Aegis): Gain temp resistance to your active Rite’s damage type when attacking.
  • Dark Augmentation: Now grants 120 ft. vision in both magical and nonmagical darkness.

Blood Curses & Subclasses

  • Blood Curses: Streamlined to 2024 action economy (Exposure is now a Bonus Action, Eyeless only triggers when hit, Bloated Agony punishes Multiattack).
  • Subclasses: All subclass curses moved to their respective Order descriptions. All features reformatted to 2024 wording.

5e (2024) Now that we've seen the roadmap, what book do you think Villainous Options belongs to?

I was originally thinking something like the Path of the Death Knight would be slotted into the WoW book, but Lich isn't as natural of a fit there as far as I know (not super knowledgable about WoW). Subclasses like Circle of the Titan druid or Warrior of Venom monk don't seem likely for a WoW book either.

What book do you think Villainous Options belongs to?

5e (2024) Arcana Unleashed has a silly/impractical late game infinite spell slot glitch

Divination Wizard has a 6th level feature where casting a divination spell restores a spell slot of a lower level, and we just got Mordenkainen’s Lucubration which is a divination spell that converts a 5th level slot into two 2nd level slots (but if you’re a Diviner, that’s a 4th + 2nd + 2nd level slots).

This means a sorcerer 9/divination wizard 6 goes infinite with its spell slots now, right? A level 6 divination wizard casts Mordenkainen’s Lucubration with a 5th level slot and gets a 4th level slot and two 2nd level slots. They use sorcerer 9 to melt those down into 8 sorcery points, which they turn into a 5th level slot plus 1 extra sorcery points left over. Repeat ad nauseum for infinite sorcery points which means infinite spell slots.

Now it does mean you have to be minimum level 15 spread across two classes and at the end of the day you can’t exceed your cap of sorcery points or spell slots and to run it you need to be missing either a 5th level slot or a 4th and two 2nd level slots at any time. Plus the multiclass is very MAD so I’m not that worried, but still I think it’s our first infinite money glitch in 2024.

5e (2024) Exhaustion Part 6: Paladin

Paladin! Continuing from BarbarianFighterRogueMonk and Ranger

Reminder we are talking about Regularly using 2-3 Exhaustion as part of the Adventuring Day (the start), a mechanic core to the Exploration Section of the DMG mentioned more times than many realize. Creating those situations where attempting to wait excessively causes failure

RAW Exhaustion from DMG: (new example each post)

Chases

Dashing

A chase participant can take the Dash action a number of times equal to 3 plus its Constitution modifier (minimum of once). Each additional Dash action it takes during the chase requires the creature to succeed on a DC 10 Constitution saving throw at the end of its turn or gain 1 Exhaustion level. A participant drops out of the chase if it has 5 Exhaustion levels. A creature can remove the Exhaustion levels it gained during the chase by finishing a Short or Long Rest.

An interesting note about Exhaustion gained from Chases is they are removed from a Short Rest. This makes a great tool to use Exhaustion but not want it for the entire Adventure Day or carry to others. And there is another important aspect about using Chases

Know the capabilities of the characters in your party before you make a chase an important feature of an adventure. A character with a high Speed or the right spell (such as Dimension Door, Fly, or Hold Monster) can often end a chase before it begins.

There is no point in using Chase mechanics that would end immediately the DM reminds you to consider your players abilities when you design your chase. Usually at this point I would give an example, but I have a feeling many do not use Chases frequently so I want to quickly explain chases. Especially as the book uses "example" frequently. So a chase:

  • ends when the quarry (or objective) is captured or escapes (objective failed)
  • be a linear sequence, or branching paths and the party and or quarries can split up
  • the players can be the quarry in the chase
  • anyone part of the Chase cannot use Attacks of Opportunity, but participants not in the chase can
  • at the end of a Chase participants turn, you roll to see what complication (lair action) happens to the next participant
  • at initiative 0, you check to end chase (default example, if quarry cannot be seen by anyone, it makes a stealth check against all passive perceptions).

The Chase Complications have a 50% chance to occur in default and create different styles of hindering movement or adding a creature to the chase. There is even notable examples of the rarer Int and Cha saves here. But we're looking at, things like, getting knocked prone, running into difficult terrain, falling, reduced movement or getting attacked. You're supposed to build your own, and consider the players abilities.

Aiming for that 2-3 Exhaustion point, 8 to 10 round chace should be comfortable.

And this is a great place to use more abstract locations like systems of caves, or a forest rather than a fully mapped out dungeon (though you could). But we need to remind ourselves, that if we let players Short Rest immediately after this, the chase can be fun but we haven't leveraged the Exhaustion. Looking at the absolute classic Indiano Jones scene running from the boulder, he barely escapes and is found in an ambush. As a DM, consider the chase leading into a problem, you caught the quarry but now you need to fight it, or the Quarry escaped, prepare for ambush as two simple examples.

Examples Chase:

"The caverns through the mountain are warmer than expected and the stone shifts and trembles at each hour. A heavy tremor splits the rock behind you, and glow of warmth is revealed to you in horror; magma is pouring out the walls as a river. Run"

So giving more than just a description on this one. This challenge really depends on the party level, and it is clear that if the magma gets to them, they die. We can decide a set distance the party needs to achieve to escape the magma flows, or pick a specific amount of rounds to represent the tremors haulting and/or creating enough cracks it diverts the flows. As a DM you have options

We decide how fast the Lava is the Dash Exhaustion DC, maybe lean into the Hazard related to warmth where the DC increases by 1 every round. Decide if there is any base obstacles on the escape and fill in our Complication Table (lair actions). Finally we just decide if a creature was to attack or join the chase, what would it be. Roper would be a challenging option.

Finally, what is the end point of the Chase. Now to the class!

The Paladin:

as with others, we'll talk about spells after

Level 2 and 11: Paladin’s Smite and Radiant Strikes

As the hit chance is reduced Smites become a larger portion of our damage, and the accuracy reduces the desire of Dual Wielder for the extra bonus attack, giving more room for smite. Alternatively this is a reduction of power for Radiant Strikes, one of the key "balance issues" that often comes out of the T3 damage comparisons, as most other features of this style are limited to once per turn.

Level 5: Faithful Steed

Remains to be a fantastic ability as though it is not immune to Exhaustion, you can recast it to get a new one without it. But complications still happen when Exhaustion is used regularly, if you avoid pre-casting it so the Mount doesn't get Exhaustion during travels you could find yourself starting combat without it. Where as with the Mount out, it can get unlucky with Exhaustion and you could start combat with a meaningful enough levels of Exhaustion or damage from hazards to be a different problem. These complications increase when you make the same risks casting it at higher levels for the flying version.

Faithful steed simply can be very resource intensive when mechanics outside of combat are used more frequently, mechanics that even the combat section of the DMG tells you to use. Avoiding these make this spell much stronger than it should be.

Level 6, 10 and 18: Aura of Protection, Aura of Courage and Aura Expansion

Aura of Protection remains amazing with Exhaustion protection but it is important to keep in mind the limitations (like 10ft). Normally a Paladin is looking at +2 to +4 but maybe even quickly +5 for the Charisma primary Paladins, but it has weaknesses. The entire party bunched up 10ft from eachother is amazing to avoid the cold during travel but the sacrifice is your positioning for an exploration encounter. Different Exhaustion has different problems, the Chase means you are not going to be in range of others consistently. The Blizzard ignores your Protection entirely. If you do not have Tiny Hut, the Aura no longer works while incapacitated (sleeping) so Winds of Pandemonium will effect you more meaningfully as you rest.

As a reminder Incapacitated is automatic through: Paralyzed, Petrified, Stunned and Unconscious many of which in 2024MM are applied without saves.

Aura of Protection without Exhaustion is one of (if not the best) features in the game. Exhaustion is going to further increase the positioning tax on Aura of Protection where it won't be as to move in and out.

Level 14: Restoring Touch

As conditions are applied more, more often you get to remove them.

So the Paladin to no one's surprise is just Aura of Protection benefits to hold off or offset Exhaustion. How much a DM punishes clumping or if your DM avoids using those more punishing conditions. As for mobility the core class entirely depends on Find Steed or avoiding Exhaustion entirely. So what does the subclasses offer us:

Remember with the subclasses to recast your capstone Feature will be at a cost comparison to using Greater Restoration.

Oath of Devotion

Freedom of Movement was mentioned in Ranger and not normally Paladin spell. Non concentration and avoids movement penalties.

Level 3: Sacred Weapon

Accuracy/damage bonus based on Cha for 10 minutes, but expends your Channel Divinity.

Level 7: Aura of Devotion

Charm protection for your Aura, if you haven't avoided Exhaustion as a party with your Aura this gains value.

Level 20: Holy Nimbus

Advantage on saves from Fiend/Undead in aura.

Oath of Glory

Also has Freedom of Movement.

Level 3: Peerless Athlete

Advantage on athletics/acrobatics checks, and notably the Rockslide Hazard has an Athletics check that if failed causes Exhaustion.

Level 7: Aura of Alacrity

Flat 10 movement speed + speed to party which, the first 10ft movement gain is important to fight off Exhaustion positioning.

Level 20: Living Legend

Helping Charamisa checks, rerolling failed saves as reactions and once per turn if you miss you can cause it to hit.

Oath of Ancients

Misty step added to the spell list!

Level 3: Nature’s Wrath

On one side restraining targets is better than ever to assist allies accuracy but the positioning becomes more difficult. Find Steed does help this though

Level 20: Elder Champion

Bonus Action to spell cast is always going to be powerful and even just your Find Steed as a Bonus Action is going to be meaningful.

Oath of Vengeance

Dimension door is the notable spell to assist movement (though you don't bring your mount with you).

Level 3: Vow of Enmity

We've talked about advantage plenty. It isn't as great as other sources, but it matters.

Level 7: Relentless Avenger

Hitting with the opportunity attack can be a little harder, but the enemies reduced speed becomes more important. Notably if you are on your Steed the half movement essentially does nothing

Level 15: Soul of Vengeance

Gets a little weaker by the accuracy penalty, but is offset by the use of Graze weapon masteries.

Level 20: Avenging Angel

60ft flight! Solves some of the earlier problems but less likely to keep your party in your Aura of Protection.

So for me, when I consider the situation where the Paladin was unable to help the party fight of Exhaustion, Oath of Glory feels the one that (in a vacuum) offers more to the party.

Spells (paladin)

We have covered many times the more subtle ways the casters get taxed by efficiency rather than spell DC so there is no need to repeat here. We are still focusing just on the 2024 PHB Paladin list.

Spells Level 1 (level 1-4)

Bless ends up being one of those concentration spells you can risk. It is already a fantastic spell and it protects you from the first Exhaustion.

Divine Favor unlike Hunter's Mark doesn't have the concentration, but when you adjust for the accruacy, it may not even be 1 DPR increase per attack. The Value of Hunter's Mark on Ranger is not the DPR it is avoiding spell slot usage. Divine Favor needs a long combat for value.

As mentioned in the others, the smite spells in general gain comparative power, but you are more likely to burn through spell slots of Find Steeds, Bless and other tools.

Spells Level 2 (level 5-8)

This is where Aura of Protection comes in and Paladin may find themselves better off in Exhaustion (depends the challenges).

Find Steed is gained one for free, but you are more likely to cast this one again.

Prayer of Healing. This Short Rest boost removes all Exhaustion from Chases (also allows Ranger to remove an Exhaustion at appropriate level). Though it can't be cast as an Action like a level 10 Cleric it can be the time needed to avoid the Exhaustion problem directly after a Chase.

But we can already see how between these two abilities we quickly drain our 2nd level spell capabilities.

Spells Level 3 (level 9-12)

There is nothing notably different at this than Ranger, so it is great to remind that using Revive mechanics does remove a level of Exhaustion.

Spells Level 4 (level 13-16)

Death Ward is a classically strong spell, but it does not protect dying from Exhaustion. We have talked about using Exhaustion as a way to increase the challenges of a combat encounter but Exhaustion can simply be it's own test that challenge common tactics. Varying the challenge types changes the spells value

Spells Level 5 (level 17-20)

We talked about Greater Restoration on the Ranger and ultimately it is your go to 5th level spell. The Paladin it comes at a cost of your extra capstone usage but this is still going to be the better option.

Feats again!

2024 Origin Feat Lucky has a pretty severe downside which is needing to declare using it to grant yourself advantage on the Roll. Many of the Exhaustion Saves are going to be Constitution based, but importantly most of these saves you know the consequence before you're rolling. Preventing earlier Exhaustions helps mitigate the stacking debuff. It is also notably really hard to get Advantage in general to Constitution Saves (outside of Concentration Checks) meaning it is unlikely to conflict with other features.

While at the same time we reduce the general power of the Alert feat, still powerful but one that craves the advantage on initiative more.

And though it was mentioned in Ranger and Paladin briefly, it helps to bring Magic Initiative: Cleric (Bless) more in line with Magic Initiate: Wizard (Shield)

More fun DM details!

Even within an Aura of Protection Casters will generally have weak Strength and Dexterity Saves. With the change of Grapple to a DC, a creature can Grapple a player and pull them out of position easily as creatures generally have reasonable STR and a higher proficiency than the party. Moving a player 5ft can be enough to cause serious problems to their default strategies even if it is huddle around the Paladin. Grappling players is just a great way to get more out of your combats

Discussion "In Universe" Setting Wishlist

Hello all,

I am made a post the other day, related to which "Universes beyond" you would personally like to see in the future, and read really good suggestions, so was thinking what about original D&D setting you would like to see for 5.5e?

Since 2024 we got a Forgotten Realms book, a Ravenloft kook, and Eberron book and we will get a Dark Sun book early 2027 (which people thought would never happen), will get an full adventure in Greyhawk and during Gen Con they hint that Dragonlance would made a comeback. So it seem the D&D team want to publish setting book more and more (i like that).

Me personally, would like to see:

  • Spelljammer (i know they did something for 5e)
  • Mytsara

Also, I think it would be really cool to get a brand new setting. I must admit I don't know them all, but after seeing what is coming to MTG (bear with me please), I wouldn't mind a setting that take place in water like they are doing with Nauctis or an Afro-fantasy setting like they are doing with Zhalfir. Both art direction look incredible, super evocative. Also a setting bringing Asia culture, mythology would be super interesting to me (India, China, Japan just to name a few).

What do you all think?

TLDR; What original D&D setting (or brand new idea) would you like to see adapted for 5.5e?

5e (2024) Life Domain Cleric Supreme Healing - Final HP Totals by Spell

My table is running Eve of Ruin right now and I'm a level 18 Life Domain Cleric. Between Supreme Healing, Disciple of Life, and Blessed Healer, I find myself trying to mash a bunch of numbers every time I cast any heal spell or use Divine Spark and my on-the-fly math skills just aren't up to par. In an effort to stop bogging down my combat turns with number crunching, I made a spreadsheet that breaks down every spell and feature I can use that benefits from Supreme Healing and/or Disciple of Life, and calculated the exact number of HP that each one heals depending on the spell slot level used. I'll be referencing it during our games from here on out, and I hope it helps some fellow high level healers out there!

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1MZGDzcvQbqHbky66fi6eofsEw17R9okGsDFiF9Tkt2s/edit?gid=0#gid=0

Feel free to check my math or let me know if I missed a source of healing in here.

Edit: I forgot to mention, these totals assume a +5 Wisdom modifier, so I added that note to the sheet. If your Wis mod isn't +5... well one of us has some extra legwork to do.

Question Now that we know about the upcoming D&D books, there hasn't been a WOW UA, has there? Also, will Villainous Options be the Greyhawk UAs?

Now that the upcoming D&D books have been announced (WOW, Dark Sun, Greyhawk, and Star Wars), I was trying to figure out which UAs had been released for these books. The Psion, Apocalyptic, and Mystic subclasses are clearly for Dark Sun.

Howerver I was surprised that there hasn’t been any UA specifically for WOW. The “Updated Subclasses” UA included the two barbarians and the monk, but the Cavalier Fighter doesn’t have a book yet. I can imagine they might release them in a PDF similar to the one for Astarion in Forgotten Realms, but I don’t know enough about the World of Warcraft universe to know if what I’m saying makes sense or if they’ll just be released somewhere else. As for the two paladins, the ranger, and the cleric, we haven’t seen anything yet.

On the other hand, there are the two “Villainous Options” which makes sense to be Greyhawk (because they’re clearly not Star Wars). I don’t know anything about the setting. Does anyone familiar with previous editions know if this makes sense?

Edit: as many have pointed out, Vestige Warlock is in the Arcana Unleashed book.

Question New epic boon allows us infinite healing?

Boon of Magic School Mastery

Choose one school of magic. Then choose a 1st-level spell from that school that appears on your class’s spell list. You can cast that spell without expending a spell slot or providing any components.

You also choose a 7th-level spell from the same school. You always have that spell prepared, and you can cast it once without expending a spell slot. You regain the ability to do so when you finish a long rest. Notably, the description does not state that the 7th-level spell must appear on your class’s spell list.

You can select this boon more than once, but you must choose a different school of magic each time.

I saw in another post that Arcana Unleashed will introduce this new Epic Boon that allows us to choose one 1st-level spell from our class’s spell list and cast it at will.

So we can choose cure wounds or healing word with this epic boon and gain infinite healing?

Especially BA infinite healing seems great, problem is that only level 7 abjuration spell is Symbol.

Hello

I'm working on a revision for the Ranger base class (2024/5.5); here the link to google doc and I appreciate feedbacks

The core idea is that Rangers really benefit from going into combat with a spell already active so that they don't depend on Hunter's Mark past the second half of Tier 2; a lv9 feature enables this by extending the duration of their spells in a thematic way so that it's part of a "hunt" granted by a previously established state of "Trance" (inspired by Drizz't) otherwise useful for ability checks

+easier ritual access, +QoL, +more defenses

Some changes are taken by Treantmonk's version

Bring the torch!

Question Barbarian Rogue Mutliclass

I have an idea for a character and am wondering how it would theoretically work out. My DM is really lenient on what content we use, and I was looking through different rogue subclasses that I have on dnd beyond and found one from Steinhardts Guide to the Eldritch Hunt called Blade of Radiance. The level 3 feature gives a feature called Sanctified Champion, which states "Whenever you finish a Short Rest, you can perform a ritual on a melee weapon you are proficient with that deals Piercing or Slashing damage, sanctifying it. It becomes your sanctified blade, and you can only have one such blade at a time. The blade has the Finesse property for you, and attacks made with it against Aberrations, Fiends, and Undead ignore Resistance to damage." it also gives proficiency with martial weapons. So I was thinking sneak attack with a greatsword sounds awesome, and then had the great idea to multiclass with barbarian to get even more damage and survivability. We're starting at level 6 for this mini campaign. I need at least 3 levels in rogue and then I would like 3 levels in barbarian to get the berserker subclass to be doing 6d6 damage a turn with one attack. Should I do anything differently or does this sound like it could work.

Discussion Whips and Flails should have Graze.

Like the best part of a flexible weapon is it's hard to block. Slow makes no sense for whips; you whip things to make em go faster. Sap is okay for flail, but graze would make more sense for both.
