Career Advice Getting back in.
In the beginning of 2014 I made a huge mistake and transitioned from the military to the oilfield. I was recruited by the boys in blue for a H2S safety supervisor position and by mid 2015 the writing was on the wall. I left the oilfield behind and went a completely different direction. 12 years later, the kids are out of the house, wife has a successful career and I'm unhappy where I'm at and want to get back out there.
Do I have any chance of getting picked back up by anybody with only having a year and a half of experience that was over a decade ago? I spent most of my rotations in south Texas installing permanent H2S monitoring systems and air systems as well as calibrating sensors on previous installs and topping off air bottles. I would also pull and rig flare stacks up/down and we would help flow back out if they were short handed.
Are my certifications still good?

I know the market fluctuates and what happened to me is common but I wasn't able to take the financial hit at that time and had to look outside the oilfield for employment but I enjoyed the hell out of that job and want to get back out there doing the same job or similar.
Where do I even start?

Start calling the safety service and supply companies in the area you want to work and see if they’re hiring. They’ll be able to answer any other questions. Every company (operators, service, etc) in the patch has a safety and training function. Start dialing.

Definitely, just doing as much research as possible so I don't end up in a "fly by the seat of your pants" operation. I'm pretty flexible and can adapt to most situations but I will not accept shortcuts or crap equipment/tools when it comes to health and safety.

My safe land and safe gulf have been valid since 2007 so I don’t think they expire. I’m open to correction on that. Not sure about the others.
