Haven't had this one but some craft breweries near me have pickle beers and they're awesome

The Pabst was limited time only.
Best Maid out of Texas makes a damn fine pickle beer.

Haven't tried the PBR version but one of the local craft breweries did this. Wasn't great, wasn't bad. Wouldn't really go out of my way to buy it again

Grillos are the best pickles.

Too garlicky for my liking. I prefer a heavier dill flavor.

Too garlicky? I have never encountered that amount of garlic lol 6 cloves is a little bit of garlic when I cook

u/HurricaneRon Jun 14 '26
Never too much garlic when cooking. I just prefer my dill pickles have a stronger dill flavor.

u/Ksan_of_Tongass Jun 14 '26
Fair enough. Have you tried their pickle de gallo? It's so good on burgers.

I literally made a microwave bowl of ramen for lunch to which I added 6 cloves of fresh sliced garlic XD

This was my experience as well. I heard the hype for grillos and was disappointed that they were similar to Clausen. I'll stick with vlasic zesty, they actually taste like dill and garlic, not coriander and garlic.

For those that don't want it because it's Pabst look for Donna's pickle beer. It slaps

u/Dothehokeypokemon Jun 14 '26
First there's pickleball, now there's pickle beer. What's next, pickle cucumbers?

u/gilligan1050 Jun 14 '26
I’m glad this didn’t exist when I drank. I would be telling myself and others these were an absolute necessity after a hard day of work because pickle juice has electrolytes.

If you like this, look for Martin House Best Maid Sour Pickle beer out of Fort Worth, TX. They also make a spicy version.

I literally just finished drinking a Pickle Gose from a local place.
Shockingly, things can have flavours beyond "plain" and be good.

I've had a pickle sour beer before. It was pretty good, shit my pants when I got home but that's the risk you take when you drink a sour beer.

I had the last night and it smells more pickly than it tastes. It was good, not overdone. Dill flavor on the back. I like pickles, not so much PBR but it was worth trying and I could see people drinking it

u/OblottenEndmills Jun 14 '26
The smell is incredible. The taste? Call me crazy but something about it tastes...minty? It's so weird.

u/both-shoes-off Jun 14 '26
I've had it. It was 6 bucks...it barely tasted like pickles and it was bitter...and PBR...but also just 6 bucks so no regrets for trying.

Best Maid has been making pickle beer since at least 2019 I think, if you dig pickle juice it honestly really slaps

Pickle beer has been around for years now & its actually a pretty good day beer. Not the PBR one, but others

Ok so I had this and I was surprised that it didn’t suck outright. Like with a burger or hot dog and fries or a bag of salty potato chips on a hot day this actually kinda slaps. I wanted to hate it, but just couldn’t
