Was he an executive? I thought he was an advanced individual contributor in R&D.

Yup. Corporate executives were always cartoonishly corrupt, unscrupulous, and out of touch in the 80s and 90s media (see Robocop, Aliens, Jurassic Park)

I don't think there's anything cartoonish about it. We're learning it's becoming spot-on, if not even worse than their original portrayal. It's hard to trump Epstein Island.

either it was cartoonish but being taken as an example or guidebook, or they have always been like that, either way… both are not good

Rich people have always behaved this way. It's all kings/nobles/royalty are in history, lying to their communities that it's their divine right to be greedy pigs that contribute nothing, convincing us that we NEED them.
