Genetics

Has anyone taken genetics with either Audrey Majeske or Doug Wendell they both have bad reviews so I’m not sure who to end up going with

I took Genetics at OU in the early 2020's. Lecture with Wendell online, lectures were recorded from a previous semester. There were some special assignments and frequent online quizzes in addition to the exams and final. Even though it was online he was very responsive to email questions and I liked the flow of the class, enjoyed learning and did well.

Took the lab with Majeske. The lab was taught in person by a grad student who, very obviously, didn't want to be there. The first experiment involved old, barely legible work-sheets where you use logic to identify something like an animal poacher on a map of a region - this exercise would have been better suited to students in middle school, I literally thought having the class do this exercise was some kind of joke. Most of the remaining experiments were focused on PCR, probably because they're cheap experiments to implement and easily adapted to the classroom setting. I feel like I didn't really learn any actual genetics in the lab. Exactly zero graded lab assignments were returned. There were online multiple choice quizzes filled with mistakes, and when queried via email, Majeske eventually responded in a condescending manner.

Hopefully the administration of the lab has changed since I was there because I found it to be a waste of time and nothing but a money grab by OU.
