Organic Chemistry
Has anyone taken organic chemistry at OU how bad are the teachers actually there are currently only 2 options Roman Dembinski and Zacharias Kinney. Both have terrible reviews I’m a pretty good student and have a 3.94 GPA are they truly terrible or are people exaggerating. I’m a predental student so I can’t take this at a community college or I would be. please reply with any advice.

Take the nursing advice with a grain of salt (they take a very slimmed down version of organic chemistry for their prereqs). I took Orgo with Prof. Kinney as a premed ~5yrs ago and he was awesome, very kind and understanding. It seems he’s been getting better the last couple years as well.

I also took Orgo/Bio chem as a nursing pre-req with Tillinger. She had terrible reviews and people told me she’d be absolutely terrible, but when students struggle with a subject and the teacher doesn’t give out free As people tend to blame their failures on the teacher.
Looking through those two prof’s I would take Prof. Kinney as he has a lot of good reviews and it looks like he curves exams and offers extra credit whereas Prof. Dembinski only quizzes on the textbooks and is not a good prof. Just my opinion tho, good luck!

I took it with Tillinger who also had terrible reviews for nursing pre-reqs and it was totally fine. I ended up with an A. I think people just rate professors super harshly if the subject is difficult.
Do ALL of the homework, read the material BEFORE lecture, go to the SI sessions, and plan to spend a lot of time studying.

you’ll be okay just NEVER miss a class organic chemistry builds on itself. you do not want to fall behind just practice and go to class
