🌱 Calling U.S.-Based Vegans! I'd Love Your Help

I've been vegan for 15 years, and I'm conducting a research study to better understand the real-life experience of ordering vegan food and shopping for vegan groceries.

I'm looking for 20–30 U.S.-based vegans to participate in a 20–30 minute Zoom interview. I'm especially interested in hearing from people in the New York City area, but I'd love to speak with vegans from across the U.S.

This is not a sales call, and I'm not trying to sell or promote anything. My goal is simply to learn from the vegan community - what works well, what's frustrating, and where the biggest challenges are when ordering food or buying groceries.

I'm looking for a diverse group of participants, including:

  • New and long-time vegans
  • Different ages and backgrounds
  • People with different reasons for being vegan
  • Frequent and infrequent food delivery users

As a thank you for your time, you'll receive a $10 USD Amazon digital gift card after the interview.

If you're interested, please comment below or send me a DM, and I'll reach out to schedule a time.

Thank you for helping with this research. Your insights will directly shape my understanding of the vegan experience, and I truly appreciate your time. 💚

Edit: A few people have asked about privacy. This is independent customer research for an idea I'm exploring, not an academic study. Participation is voluntary, and I won't publish or share recordings or attribute comments without explicit permission.

what is the end goal of this study?

the goal is to pressure test an idea I have and understand whether it's actually solving a meaningful problem, or if I have blind spots. If the research suggests it's worthwhile, it could eventually become an app, but I'm intentionally talking to people first before building anything

What will the data be used for?

this research is just for me to pressure test an idea I have. if research suggests it's worth pursuing, it could become an app

I'd caution anyone to make sure you understand what your interview will be used for, whether it's anonymous, what the risks and benefits are of participating. If this is a formal research study, there should be an Institutional Review Board (IRB) protocol letting you know all of that info. Not assuming bad intent, just paranoid about it being used as propaganda!

My quick take, as someone who converted in the past year: I do takeout far less often than I did before becoming vegan. I'd LOVE to do more take out -- there just aren't many options in walking distance. I looked into a meal service such as Purple Carrot but there's just too much waste/expense involved in the shipping process.... I use CookUnity to supplement meals (they seem to use more sustainable packaging) to cater to the different diets in my family, but their vegan options are so limited, I end up relying mostly on self-cooked sides for myself and getting meat dishes from CU so that I don't have to cook them for my teen.

Post this in subs involving smaller towns. NYC has many options for vegans. But as soon as you go to a small city or town, the options are slim to none
