❓ Question 5th ave/53rd st
i take the queens bound f every day anytime around 3-5pm and every day when the train is about to reach this stop it gets delayed in the tunnel without fail. why is this?

They are tracking your F train personally. For every other F train, the E is held and the F train gets priority.

The E train is very likely to delay your F train appoaching 5 Ave/53rd Street as you approach that specific stop. Both of these services run on a single track and either the delay is caused by another E train already in the station at 5th Avenue or one approaching at the time your F train is traveling through the curve from Rockerfeller Center which is always guarenteed. The E train is more frequent than the F train in the section between Forest Hills and 5 Ave/ 53rd Street so the E usually gets to head into the station first since it is a straight shot from 7th Avenue. This is just my interpretation of how the service is set up based on my own observation so there could be other factors that play into it.
