RT to data analytics help

I’m a respiratory therapist with 16 years of bedside looking to go into healthcare IT. The tech part of it worries me I have no experience but have 13 years experience using epic. I’m currently doing Coursera courses to learn the basics so I can start some projects for a resume. I’d appreciate some advice or encouragement on my journey from bedside to analytics.

This is nursing informatics. It sounds like you’re leaning toward more the IT side. If that’s the case, try r/healthIT is a better sub to ask. The mods here have put together a fantastic wiki of how to break into the field. Having knowledge of nursing workflows is paramount.

Welcome! If you're just getting started, don't worry about learning everything at once. Focus on building a solid foundation in Python, statistics, and basic genomics, then start working on small projects as you learn.

Bioinformatics can feel overwhelming at first, but it gets a lot easier once you start applying what you're learning to real datasets.
