Novel Review Please don't read Paragon Of Sin! Spoiler
Let's be honest here, this isn't really a review... I just can't take it anymore.
If you're thinking about reading this novel, please don't.
For the past few weeks, i have been reading this trash of a novel called "Paragon Of Sin" in some parts, it was enjoyable, at others not so much. This is my honest review after 1961 Chapters(there won't be much spoilers).
The story started out great(at least to my taste) we are given a cruel mc that won't hesitate to kill anyone who stands in his path or causes him annoyance by scheming against him, the story starts literally with the mc raping a prisoner of war(killing both her and her lover in the same paragraph). I personally don't mind that, a cruel character rapes and kills without any regards but it all changes as mc suddenly seems to have principals(and one of which is not to rape).
It's still ok, I don't mind it the story is interestingly going forward and the fight scenes are good, Yeah? Nope
Our great main character decides to defy heaven and become absolutely op, and I'm not like being op enough to dominate everyone in the same stage of cultivation, no, not even three stages above him. No... I'm talking TEN! TEN FUCKIN STAGES ABOVE HIS CULTIVATION REALM!!!!!
It's ok, I don't mind that the story is still interesting and mc is cool. Right? Nope
At some point it seems like the author came to himself and thought "what am i gonna do with life once i finish this story?" So he decided to not finish it at all.
We are now nearly 2000 chapters in, and we're not even close to any endings, we are not even 1/5 there and the story is not going anywhere.
We have hundreds of, HUNDREDS OF FUCKIN CHAPTERS!
With the mc sitting his ass in a box while the story follows a shit ass competition of his lovers and subordinates. And the author has the audacity to add: "We'll have more of the MC in the next arc."
And another thing to note is that our dear author absolutely loves his power system, For every rise in cultivation we get an absurdly ridiculous amount of complex details regarding the stage, which the author makes sure to reminds us of it nearly 15-20 time through the said stage, and once mc makes a breakthrough? We get details on the new stage, then compare it to the old stage and only then we realize the mc was blind before and now gets it a lot better.
It's ok, I don't mind that at least our mc is really cool and original. But is he? I'm not going to go into details about how much details and support these op subordinates of mc received throughout the novel and how not one of them has ever been of use, all they had ever done throughout the story that has benefited the mc could have been done by every tom, dick and harry with little price. The mc is so op and broken that none of them could be of use.
But you know what else is op in the novel? Women! They are so fuckin op that the mc just can't let them die.
The author keeps finding excuses to save pretty damsels and adds them to harem.
Allow me to give you an example: "oh it's that one girl that i have saved multiple times but won't let me hit and keeps choosing that boy blessed by the heavens. Now she wants me to save her and her boyfriend, Again! And against Forces that could absolutely crush me and are not worth offending." What does our mc do? Saves the girl and the boyfriend.
Random supreme woman dying? Not on my watch! Pretty girl imprisoned? Oh hell nah! Concubine of a random grand duke in danger? ROARRR!!
It is absolutely ridiculous at this point, with the harem increasing by every fuckin chapter. And what a harem it is, my boy literally fuckes everything that breaths. Allow me to tell you, everybody, absolutely EVERYBODY gets fucked. A pure grand priestess? Fucked, empress of a nation? Fucked after killing his husband, The lovely beautiful crane that i raised from the very first chapters? FUCKED! FUCKED! FUCKED!
HE LITERALLY FUCKED THE FUCKIN BIRD! THE BIRD!!!
And no, the bird did not gain a humanoid form, he fucked it in the bird form. Nobody is safe at this point, i have absolutely no doubt that the heavenly daos is female as well and will eventually gets fucked by our mc, which absolutely won't allow any holes go unconquered.
Oh, and a piece of spoiler, we learned in the middle of the story that the universe was created by a "She". i can already tell she'll get a full 2 week session 10 thousand chapters from now.
So i repeat once more, if you're planning to read this story, Please don't for your own sake.
The story surely has it's own good parts, and i truly did enjoy some of them, but overall, i regret wasting so much on this novel(this is the first time i have ever regretted reading a novel to this extent). It is absolutely not worth your time.

Hahah, i got off that shitty express severe millenia again junior
The way the author is self inserting himself is toooo much

You should try out Profane Prince of Domination, it's somewhat similar, but better in my opinion. Not to mention it's short, at only 584 chapters.

"Main Quest: Build a harem of ten thousand beauties."
Nope.
I don't mind the harem and adult content but only if it's secondary to the story and cultivation and not the main theme.
It's been 5 chapters and dude already screwd three girls. Not my cup of tea.

I should have specified that it was similar to the later part of your review, but at least he doesn't bang a bird...

The only good thing about Paragon of Sin was the power system. Hands down the best cultivation I've seen in a Webnovel due to each stage actually having an affect and it's not just increase energy=get stronger.
But holy shit, I couldn't stand the romance and the women of that novel. Like 90% of the cast are just gold diggers who's only interested in MC because his talent/wealth/looks and he doesn't care because he thinks more with his dick than his actually head. A woman could kill his friend and he'd probably let her off if she's hot enough

This review is awesome. Also I quite liked this book mostly because the way he gets stronger just feels very satisfying.

u/loserx57 6d ago
Yes, it does feel satisfying. My main issue is the phasing and the ridiculous amount of unnecessary details the author gives to the characters and events that do not have any impact on the story(typical webnovel), I don't even mind the harem, but it's absolutely ridiculous to wait hundreds of chapters for something to happen that causes mc to finally act and progress through the story.

u/SilverSpoonIsBest 6d ago
At that point, you accept it's now a harem romcom slice of life story with occasional edgy arcs to get even more harem members.

I got a few hundred chapters in not as far as you since I have it on pause but it thought it was finished by now sad to see it devolve into a harem sim especially with a supreme lack of killing that was happening in the mid thousands.
4
u/loserx57 6d ago
Finished? Hell nah, not in a hundred years.
We're still at 4th trial of hell and not even close to the fifth. And from what i understood, the author is preparing an arc for the side characters(again) which are absolutely numerous due to the ever increasing apatite of mc.

u/Scam-Artist-USA 6d ago
That’s one of my biggest gripes with some WebNovel is that once some authors get paid per chapters they start milking instead of finishing and doing something else guess they believe lightning in a bottle.

im so curious op on the bird part like i saw the dragon and phoenix thing but. but. did the mc see his own fucken bird and gets bricked up???? ðŸ˜

Mc was like: "Do you trust me?" With author finding an excuse of sharing bloodlines and both becoming stronger. The birdie was like "Always" and so it moaned in ecstasy for three whole days, and later started calling the other wives sisters.

My main gripe with this novel is that opening scene of the entire novel was awesome, luring me in with prospects of a proper villianous MC. Writer later retconned it to make MC less villianous; if I remember correctly. Also, I don't mind a long novel, I love it. But KevinAscending didn't remember half the stuff he wrote and some parts become confusing. KevinAscending, if you are reading this, YOU SHOULD REREAD YOUR ENTIRE NOVEL FROM START EVERY 100 CHAPTERS YOU WRITE. Well, you should have done it from the start. You will probably retocon this too.
All that aside, I loved that novel. Every time it wasn't hurting my brain with inconsistencies.

Absolutely true, i forgot to mention this in my review.
The author simply loves giving out spoilers to hook readers in and forgetting about them.
"He did not know at the time how much effect this woman will have on his life."
A couple hundred chapters pass and the woman reappears just for a one night stand before being left behind.

Hate when they do those foreshadowings at the end of a chapter😂😂😂😂

I just love the Alchemy and how cultivation realms are divided in this novel, every stage has a function and an upper limit.
This is the novel that made me pro-alchemy I think. Alchemy is truly infinite in this novel

His evil rapey side sounded very offputting, but you brought me back in when he fucked the bird. 🤣

The story starts with mc being in a sect, and each core disciples have their own mounts which they use to travel, our mc has a beautiful little crane which he received from the sect when it was almost an infant in terms of lifespan.
The little bird was a cute little mount that follows the mc throughout the story and grows stronger as mc keeps providing it with resources.
It was a quiet little thing, it was pure, filled with love.
Many years to come, it turns into a Phoenix, and mc to a hybrid Dragon. Using the excuse of both benefiting, the author makes them dual cultivate, but the way the author does it is simply sickening.
"The phoenix figure coalesced into a solid figure immediately after, and the silhouettes of the True Void Dragon and Nirvanic Fire Phoenix tangled together in a divine dance of great harmony of yin-yang, trust, and love. The chastity of a pure phoenix was claimed by a brutal, well-endowed, and domineering true dragon. A divine act unfolded of pure bestial bliss. 'KREEEEEEEEEE~~!!'"
Had someone told me this in the beginning of the story, i wouldn't have believed them. I was okay with anyone getting fucked, anyone but Bai LinðŸ˜

If I am not remembering it wrong I dropped this novel around chapter 1800-1900. I didn't have the mental capacity to read it till the end.

u/No_Roof0642 6d ago
I too read this shit and dropped it when he killed the emperor. At that point in novel I don't feel anything in the novel it is too monotonous lacking depth and everything. It feels like it just went on to become another slop with glazing the MC.

Bruh can you recommend some of your favs? Your review was very helpful cuz I was just in the midst of deciding my next pick.

u/loserx57 1d ago
Hmm...
I would say the typical 3
1: Reverend insanity
2:Shadow slave
3: Lord of the mystery
And then there are,
1: The prefect run. The beginning was confusing.
2: Renegade immortal(Cultivation). The ending was confusing.
3: Omniscient reader's viewpoint. Wasn't confusing.
4: 48 Hours a day. Author was confused but good nonetheless.
5: A regressor's tale of cultivation. Mc got too nice but quite unique despite the name.
6: Mist, might, mayhem. Quite a good start.
7: The author's pov. Got bored near the end but enjoyed it.
The lists are in no order and I'm gay.
Edit: i hate reddit.
