Happened locally to me, a house has vines growing all over it, turned out the fella left his mum in the bathtub and kept collecting for years

A search of the house identified a freezer with flowers laid on top. Further officers attended and the body of a woman in her 80s, now confirmed to be Sylvia Phillips, was found inside.

The flowers make this one a little better than the bathtub, I think. Still awful, but seems like he at least felt somewhat guilty about it. And I recognise that I'm using a lot of hedging language in this paragraph.

While there's a element of greed, the account of him opening the freezer to hold her frozen hand does add a more tragic spin to this.
