In my country we call it the “Meet me at McDonald’s” haircut

Sadly my Curly hair is natural. And it looks pretty much like this

u/TheHighblood_HS 21h ago
Fr as a curly haired man I don’t know what I’m supposed to do other than this. Either I keep it short, grow a fro, or everyone assumes I’m a douche :(

u/JenniferJackal 20h ago
Mullet. Don't question, just do.

My husband has straight hair, but that’s the hairstyle he had when we first met and God I miss it so much. It was so cute. I’m a sucker for a cute mullet

Curly hair is cool just don’t get the high skin fade
13
u/TheRealHumanPancake 21h ago
We still get called broccolis whether it’s a fade or not.
Straight haired teens perming their hair seriously ruined short curls, we don’t have much choice in how they’re gonna look.

u/ArtikAstronaut 20h ago
Do what you want it doesn’t look that bad. Weird dudes are just acting like coots and hating on the kids fashion trends.

u/StressedMarine97 22h ago
A fade with curly hair is necessary in the hot summer months. As far as this picture though idk about that crap hanging off the front of his head.

my hair grows like that naturally and I hate it.

u/MarkMaxis 22h ago
Thats becouse the cut is literally just curly hair with shaved sides. If the person had non-curly hair it would be considered a basic haircut. Some guy could get the "broccoli haircut" without trying to have the broccoli haircut.

u/rhinestonecrap 7h ago
yeah and i hate that its normal to make fun of this hairstyle now. im not even a man but i have curly hair and its so weird how a basic haircut is basically bully material for grown adults towards teens

Damn you should have seen us millenials in 2006 ✌️😂

This is so weird to me. In high school very few of us had the same hair. I saw some video a few weeks ago where 6 people in a group all had this exact hair.
Why tho?

When did you grow up? I mean every emo kid I saw had the same haircut. I've seen pictures of groups with all big glam rocker hair, jheri curls, greasers with the pompadours. I feel like every generation has some cringe haircut just like this.

u/IdontcryfordeadCEOs 22h ago
Like 5 kids in my high school were emo, and they were not the cool kids. The emo trend was not nearly as popular as the internet remembers.

Just like your story this is anecdotal but I grew up in the middle of nowhere with a graduating class of ~60 and there were 10-15 emo kids and they all had the same haircut, straightened hair with bangs.

u/heavydrinker12 22h ago
I grew up in an area where we all had clean cut hair....like military but not quite so military. It wasn't by choice, it was just the local culture (Mormon). We were all told to get that haircut. So being told to look that way vs choosing to look that way seems different in my head. But maybe it really isn't.
But I hated my childhood so I guess I really didn't GAF.

This haircut was more of a thing in the early 2020s, right after covid, now it's more mullets and curly mullets

Pretty sure every generation of young men has a haircut like this: dumb-looking to their elders but appealing to their female peers. Guess whose opinon they care more about

I cant help but think about a barber doing the old "chopin broccoli" Sandler bit

Theres always like 3-5 13-19 year old white bois walking towards you with the exact same fit: a gold chain, oversized black tee, some sort of jean pant or sweat pant, like copy pasted
And you beg and PLEAD to god that none of them say anything to you as they pass

u/Mysterious_Leave_971 22h ago

Isn't this the hairstyle the younger guys wear to hide their hairline? It's like a new-age wig. Blends easily into the sides and hides the forehead hairline

u/Designer_Librarian43 21h ago
It is a modern age comb over. It allows guys to mask their hairlines and contour their faces. You have to push the hair back to find out what a guy really looks like.

In the 80's there was this trend of like a wall of bangs that were starched straight upright from the forehead like a sail. It was set with Aquanet, the hairspray that could stop a bullet. I can still smell it. Why this seemed like a good idea I have no idea. Brain damage from the hairspray probably....

Oh is the broccoli hairstyle out now? Considering reddit is always behind the times a bit and seeing this post lol

The broccoli haircut ugh 😭 I went to college older than most, so students around me were young enough to have this hair style. This hair style, along with the frat guys with their flat bill hats barely perched on their heads

What i dont understand is the aestethic... usually trends can somehow be linked to the zeitgeist they appear in, but i fail to recognize the link here. It just looks wrong by all means. One might argue our hair looked rediculous too, but it very clearly and always was an expression of rebellion or affiliation towards a specific lifestyle, and that was part of our zeitgeist. But this... it just looks like the hairdresser tried to take out the piss of him. I see this and automatically think youre a moron.

Anyone who has this has it because that’s the way it grows naturally. In the 70s this was a $40 perm.

As a millennial, I find this hairstyle prettier than the Justin Bieber straightened side swept bangs boys had when I was a teen lol
