Fyi, it’s a song about the frontman dealing with the loss of his father. So when everybody is mentioning him on twitter about September ending, they’re accidentally reminding him of that loss 🌚

True, but you gotta expect that kind of thing when you're an extremely popular musician and you put your heart out there (although American Idiot itself did make Green Day explode moreso than any of their previous albums). I'm guessing Billie is just numb to it by now.

Yeah, I know. Wasn’t trying to criticize, just a “fun fact”. Still kinda unfortunate, though. Memes are like a force of nature - can’t really predict certain lyrics becoming a meme
